Title: Os 2.1.0 Does Not Work For Me.
Post by: counter terrorist dan on December 17, 2004, 11:00:00 PM
retry it with the cd method. I've done it the cd way everytime i flash a xenium, never fails. The hard drive method sometimes seems to have problems with many people though. You may need to use the nifty recovery switch too.

Did you unlock your hard drive first?

dry.gif and the xbox led thing turned solid red.

I used Avalaunch to transfer the recovery.bin and it worked first time.

Could we investigate this matter further Artifex? If this is truely a bug then it'll cause lots of people to screw up thier chips with a bad flash!

You could prevent the recovery.bin on the hd from being used by temporarily disconnecting the HD.

Yes, I think the DVD should be scanned before the HD too.

Remember to delete the recovery.bin after succesfully doing the upgrade.

Is anyone else having problems with OS 2.1.0?

First of all, please don't say that my chip is a clone.  I'm not in denial, I'm just 100% sure that it is real.  I bought it from www.divineo.com, I've matched it with the pictures, and ran the xbe test.  My Xenium Ice chip is real.

I used the HD recovery method twice now.  Both times I got the recovery screen and then it powered down when it was done like it should.
I didn't try the iso method because I don't feel like wasting a CD. (I'm tight like that)

When I power on with either the power or eject button, I get a blank screen and the eject button flashes green.  If I press the eject button again, it goes into recovery mode, loads the recovery.bin file on the hard drive, and then powers down again.  I get the same results every time.

My EEPROM is good.  I was able to revert back to OS 2.0.0 and everything works great again.

btw  My xbox is a 1.1

Any Ideas?
Thanks beerchug.gif

The same thing happened to me. You can't unplug your Hard Drive and then go into Recovery Mode because it checks for a HDD. Therefore, you can insert a stock HDD or any other HDD temporarily and burn the Xenium OS onto a CDRW/DVDR/DVDRW or whatever. Just insert it in your drive and let it update. Make sure the hard drive with Xenium OS is NOT in and another Hard drive with NO recovery.bin on there is plugged into your Xbox.  wink.gif

If you don't feel like making an ISO cd, I used the hdd recovery.bin and made a data cd out of it.

Worked perfectly two times in one day (first was 2.0.2, then 2.1.0)

I did try just unpluging before trying the backup hard drive.  It just sat at the recovery screen looking for IDE device.  I don't remember exactly what it said, but it didn't look like it was going to work.  I waited for a minute, but maybe I didn't wait long enough. dry.gif

I told you to put in ANY hard drive that DOESN'T have a RECOVERY.BIN on it.  wink.gif

@ Master-Chief

I had exactly the same problem as you, I always used to go the HDD route for easiness ,never again.

Yes and I feel it should scan the DVD unit b4 the HDD.
