Title: Install Chip & Bios
Post by: Zekke on September 27, 2004, 09:26:00 PM
Okay, I figured how how to install the bios....I flashed the bios with X24983.  It worked fine at first but now whenever I turn on my xbox it goes to the regular dashboard. The orginal.  The OS doesn't even show up anymore.  Any ideas?

Thanks

Ahh, another testament to how bad the solderless adapters are.  Your chip became misaligned, you must open it up, take off the adapter and realign it.  Like I always say, if you have to ever open your xbox after installing a chip you might as well solder it.

I'm 100% sure its the alignment.  If you check for continuity on the pins against the lpc and the d0 to the wire you will see what points are not aligned.

If the chip is red, then it's most likey d0 that's the problem. It needs to make good contact. You can even solder just d0 if you like...

A lot of the time, the SL Pins on the Adaptor force themselves out of the LPC because they're way tougher than they should be, you can fix this by simply applying a little weight on top of the chip. That should hold the little fucker right in there.

These problems aren't caused by bad D0 contact as often as you might think.

thanks for the input. my computer has been down for a few days but when i pressed down on the chip it did bootup the way i expected it to.  what do you guys suggest i do about the weight issue?

Search in this forum for the paper trick or solder.
