Is it possible to update the Xenium OS using a PC programmer. My Xenium is fragged after trying to update the OS using the HD method. The Xenium just flashes red and will not boot. I have tried removing and replacing the mod. Mod chip working ... try to update OS .. mod chip not working.
Any suggestions on what I can do to get the xenium happy again? |
Does it Frag (Flashing Red, Amber, Green) or does it flash Amber then go solid Red?
If it is the second then you can still to the ISO install if you have a burner and disks that are redable in your XBOX.. Just make the iso and power on your XBOX
The flashing amber means it is searching for the recover.bin.
If the upgrade starts, it will flash Red,Green,Red,Green for a min then shut off.
It does the orange, green, red flash and the LED on the modchip is red. I have burned a CD and it does not try to update from it.
When doing an OS update via the E: drive method, ensure your HD is properly jumpered. (Cable select)
When trying to do other method, ensure your switch is in the right position.
When updating, the box will show a splash screen, flutter the lights, and eventually Turn the XBOX off itself.
When you power it back on you should be at the new OS screen and see v2.0.0
With E Drive method, seems many people are neglecting to switch the jumper to CableSelect

| I'd sure love to try that, but because I can't boot up with my modchip attached I can't. |
you don't understand so listen up... a jumper is a PHYSICAL object that connects 2 points letting electricity flow through them and thereby changing the function of the device...

| Does anyone know how I could get my xenium running again? Can I put the OS back on the mod using a PC programmer? |
no it is not possible

| I appreciate peoples responses, but no one is actually answering the questions I'm asking or suggesting any possible fixes other that what is in the documentation for the xenium. |
fixes have been given.. you fail to understand and use them... there aren't any "secret" ways to fix it
and you have tried flipping the recovery switch?

| assure you my clock is always set, i have been vigilant about it for a long time (ever since the original mame-x). |
Your xbox time resets after unplugging it for a couple of hours.
Burn iso version to cd-rw
(burn image dont drag drop)
flip switch to revovery
and update will take place

lol - yes, i do know this , you may have never seen me post in this forum before but i've been around for quite some time.
@Milhousen - today or tomorrow i will try the hotswap and will post results here - will of course be using the cd version - (should give me a fraction more time to swap chip than hdd vers anyway)
Edit: actually i wont post results here but in the 'failed os2 upgrade' thread

not sure if this is really the right place for this but the topic does say 'Failed Os2 Update' - so here goes. cupla posts up i asked if i could hotswap from 1 xenium to another to reflash a corrupt recovery.
does anyone know if this will work: Boot box with mates xenium ice with beta2, hotswap to my failing xenium (beta2 to os2 bad hdd upgrade) recover from disc?
I'm going to try it (cos at the moment the chip is useless - so what does it matter). but it will be a cupla days before i can get my hands on that other xenium so in the meantime any advice will be much appreciated as this is a very expensive chip in australia.
thanks |
Yes, you can hotswap a Xenium to repair a corrupted OS.
Check the forum, there was a long thread on this in the last week.
a full recovery takes me about 4 minutes by the time the cd is in to the time the xbox reboots... with about a minute of "fumbling" time...
