If you buy a pre-ICE then you must burn a CD/DVD to do anything.
During my very first install of a Xenium I had to do so much reading on the burning of CD/DVD media just to get started. I tried numerous burning methods, media, XISO, gdfimage, Quix image, UDF. It was a nightmare. Sure I have it all figured out on my end now.
Sure you may get lucky to find a distributer that will pre-install XOS 2.X for you, but with the ICE version youre sure to know it has 2.X on it already.

Time and money, less of their time, more of your money.
Who wants to sit around reflashing every single chip in their inventory when it works as-is. I sure wouldnt want to. Maybe if all the smaller shops started doing it then it might force the bigger shops to do it also.
But really, when was the last time you've seen a shop go above and beyond the call of duty. They'll only want to do as minimal as possible to get your money.

The solderless will be on the page tomorrow.
If you're interested right now, simply order the normal xenium+solderless adapter for the moment and specify you would like the Xenium ICE in the comments field and we will process your order for that once its available.
It will be the same price.

1. Can you use the external LED adapter thing with the normal Xenium?
2. Will OzXodus eventually come out with a solderless adapter for 1.6 (i heard soldering a 1.6 is gonna be a bitch)
3. I thought I read that the OS2 is still in beta and not Stable, if they are releasing Xenium ICE with the OS2 then it must be stable correct?
I'm just gonna pull out my Xenium and Paint it white for an ICE look =P jk

The exact reason I never posted a ETA... OzXodus never declaired one, and I don't feel the need to give a false date just to mislead potential customers.

Just because it wasn't fully implimented in the public BETA (key word here) doesn't mean it won't be in the final.

It's still beta jackass. World of Warcraft is in BETA stage. They probably have a stable release ready for the public too, but it wont come out until the official release date. The same goes for OS2 They probably have it stable enough to be released but are waiting for their official release date, which is when the Xenium ICE rolls out. I'm not saying that the Ice pre-orders wil get OS2 before they release OS2 publicly, but that they will release OS2 by the time the people who pre-ordered their Ice start receiving them. If for instance they would have finished OS2 yesterday and release it today, they would probably need 2 days to flash their entire stock of Ice's. Then it would take another day to package them all and send them to their retailers worldwide. Delivery would take about 3 days depending on where they have to go and how they are delivered. Add another day for the retailers to repack the Ice's and send them out. Then another 3 days for the ice's to be delivered to your doormat. By now 10 days have passed with at least 1 sunday, so let''s make it 11. If OS2 was released 11 days ago, how would you think the buyers would react if they stil didn't have their Ice? They would probably cancel their order and buy something else. But if they would wait for their Ice's to at least get to the retailers, nobody would complain. "Now in stock, Xenium Ice.
