How fast is the FTP ?
I hear its slow as hell - X3 claims to be over 11,000 kb/sec
OS2 Booted up fine, but after I tried to refresh my network it hung, so I turned off my xbox and now it FRAGS. Reboots 3 times then frags. I'll try the recovery mode by flipping the switch.
I hope I can recover my xenium or thats $50 down the drain.
wow, it fixed like alot of sutff, thanks xenium!
I think I'll wait another 2 months, its prolly how long its gonna take for OZX to weed through the bugs the guinee pigs find.
Thanks to team OzXodus for releasing the XOS 2.0 beta
... good work!
any1 have this problem,
i goto launch menu to add a bios then enter a menu and click flash, now flash is suppose to be to pick a bios flashed on the chip but mine brings up a dir. of drives which is suppose to be the bios from Harddrive?

| Okay, can anyone clarify this for me? I remember OzXodus saying that it was a multitasking OS. I assumed that this meant it would still be running in the background after the BIOS loaded up. It now appears that is not the case but it would be so cool, being able to ftp files over to your box while playing a game or running some other app. |
No, that's not what multitasking means and it will never happen for the simple reason that it would be almost impossible to maintain any sort of compatibility with retail games if you tried to keep the FTP server resident after boot.
Multitasking means that the OS is designed to handle multiple threads at once - in other words do multiple things simultaneously when your in the XeniumOS.

No,
Because you have a new OS you need to reflash the 4 banks.
It will take care of the bank modes for you.
Now its on step insted of 3.
i am gonna wait till the official, I don't like taking risks for shit I don't need this second.

Can someone review the OS with screenshots/speed tests etc? |
Yes, that would be interesting.
Maybe start a separate clean thread containing reviews and screenshots!
Well, it didn't take me long to put 1.1 back on the but the potential of 2 is pretty sweet. I had problems when I turned telnet off and I had a hard time getting it to actually update in recovery mode. It said it was doing it, then shutdown. Turn the box back on and your back to 1.1 After several tries it upgraded but after a few freeze ups I decided to put 1.1 back on. Can't wait to see the final version though!!!
OS 2.0 IS SWEET!
| QUOTE (Master-Chief @ Jun 15 2004, 02:01 PM) |
I used to have an issue with my chip being soldered poorly because of a cold/dry LPC point. I was too lazy to fix it and I was wondering if maybe the new OS could fix it. My Xbox would frag after like an hour of inactivity upon loading the instant boot default BIOS, but it would load Xenium OS 1.1 without a problem. Would I would have to do is let it frag for like 3 seconds, turn it off and wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on and it would work. When I upgraded to OS 2.0 last night, and turned on my Xbox in the morning expecting it to frag and it DIDNT!
OS 2.0 IS SWEET! |
Cool !
The OS 2.0 resoldered it for you, lol
What kind of soldering iron did OS 2.0 use, 15 watt?
lol just kidding!

XOS2 ftp server will not accept this file from xbox media center türkish.ini
i tried with a few ftp clients just to be sure it was the problem. |
probably the ü
Put that in another file name and see if thats it.
I have had some really strange problems with the ftp server reporting strange filenames to any client i use to connect to the xbox. Usually, it puts a space in front of the file/folder name. I suspect I'll have to re-format my drive. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
using ftp a 200 mb file transferred about 5,300 kbps. Max was 6,121 kbps.
tried it one more time and got a max of 7,505 kbps in 29 sec. (200mb file)

Well that sucks, hope ozxodus get thier act together to compete with X3!
Don't want to be stuck with an inferior chip |
yeah, i tried the same file using unleashx and got about 23,000 kbps! but like i said earlier, at least its there in case our xboxs get screwed.

only 1,000 kbps

this also appears in Avalaunch... you can't transfer the turkish file....
The FTP didn't impress me too much. Though I can connect, all the HD partitions show up as blank when I know I got loads of data on each partition. Perhaps I did something wrong..
Oh well.. another 5 months before the final code is released...

Are you guys using SmartFTP?
| QUOTE (bucko @ Jun 16 2004, 08:06 AM) |
| Are you guys using SmartFTP? |
I'm using SmartFTP and having the problems others are mentioning. You get a blank directory listing unless you instruct SmartFTP to just use the LIST command, as opposed to the default "LIST -a -L" (or something like that), which is frustrating because I've never come across any other site where I had that problem before. However, even when I get the directory listing, there is a space in front of each folder's name, so you still can't navigate.
It's good but I didn't like the red skin they used. And at first it confused me. Didn't know where the bios banks were. I can't wait for the final version.

You want OzXodus to compete with a chip thats been in development for 18 months and is still not on the market? Pretty hard to compete against a product thats does not exist if you ask me.
Are you sure its not Xecuter that needs to get their act together?? Maybe they should stop wasting time with dumbass videos and get in gear before OzXodus woops their ass...
oops.. I forgot OzXodus already has...
