IMHO the way Xodus *BEAT* the competition with the chameleon was price.
In the UK the Chameleon excelled in this area, the Executor 2.3 Lite was 40% more expensive than a Chameleon. (Executor 2.3 Lite = £25, Chameleon 1.8LE = £15)
Ok, so features wise the P&E connectors ALSO set it infront of the competition with no "unsightly" external switches but they appear to have gone from the Xenium.
(NOTE: Perhaps P&E will be replaced with a software solution?)
Looking at the complexity of the Xenium, the BOM (Bill of Materials) etc. it's not going to be cheaper than the Chameleon to make and keep up quality.
Looking at it's feature set I personally dont see ANYTHING that sets it above the chameleon.
- 2Mbit flash. So what most people dont use 1Mbit to it's full potential
- Removable D0. Cool, but I add these to my Chameleons as per a Tutorial on this website
- Emergency System Recovery. This is the most interesting of the features, but I'd need to know how it works. Where do they store the data, if it's in the flash surely a bad flash can still corrupt the entire chip, even if they tie off an address line to a switch?
Ok, so I will buy these instead of chameleons if they are about the same price, but I dont see them as 4th Gen modchips, IMHO it's an evolution of the Chameleon design. Dump the redundant Matrix programmer port, add the removable D0 connector that people have wanted, and increase the size of the flash.
I'll be pleasantly suprised if I am proved wrong.

The most groundbreaking change was the 137gb limit, and this is already incorporated into the bios & dashboard.

uhhhh....what do u have u xbox bolted down or something or is it soldered in there? ive installed a lot on matrix chips and after awhile most move and have to be re-aligned. they suck ass. they are great for non solder, but they always move. i LOVE the chameleon, the spring loaded D0 thing is absolutely fabulous!! i hope this new chip has that same feature...

Executor 3 vs Xenium...
It appears that Xenium will beat Executor 3 to the consumer. Team Executor announces and then you have the long wait for them to provide the chip. Team Xodux (OzXodus) develops the chip then announces which in turn is a shorter wait for the chip.
Both are definitely 4th generation chips with their expandability.
Now I wonder what EB2K has up their sleeves in terms of their new chip...would it be a 4th generation? Or will it be a new 3rd generation chip?

Your are correct in your statement on the chip beating the competion to the market. I just read that they are already working on shipping prototypes to manufactures to begin production.
