HAPPY NEW YEAR!

OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW

Well it's that time of the year again where we begin to wrap up everything that was 2003, file away the good and execute the bad. It's a time for looking forward to another year full of promise and resolutions that must be made and kept.

EXECUTE THE BAD:

As far as we can see, old third generations mods are now firmly to be left and stored in the old, archaic archives of 2003. The way forward, in our business, is next generation, state-of-the art technological advance, smaller faster and more user friendly devices devoid of 1000 pointless accessories that do very little but add to the confusion and nightmare that has made earlier mod chips painful to use. There is no room for an easy buy with gimmicks and such that really do very little to enhance the consumers ease and experience.

NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS:

If I told you that you will be wowed by the smallest, most potent chip on the market in early 2004 you would probably not believe me. If I told you that Xenium OS featuring XUI (Xenium User Interface) is another ground breaking advance that will revolutionize the industry you would probably not believe me. Gone are days of countless, pointless, cumbersome wires and add-ons, and most of all poorly thought out dip switches that gnaw at your patience while you struggle to poke at them with the edge of your fingernail to set some nonsense combination of switch positions just to boot to a different bios. Welcome XUI! If I told you that in less than three weeks from this first feature announcement Xenium will be in your home and working, you would probably not believe me. Not Bad huh ? We do not make New Year resolutions we do not intend to keep. See it, believe it, breathe it! OzXodus is alive and well and ready to kick in 2004!

(IMG:http://66.111.59.177/pictures/production-pic1.jpg)

(IMG:http://66.111.59.177/pictures/production-pic2.jpg)

Stay tuned for regular unveiling and explanations of the countless new features of our Christmas and New Year gift to you from the team that only knows how to develop and innovate for the future. Welcome to 2004, welcome to the future, welcome to Xenium, the next generation!

We hope you have a great New Year and wish you and yours all the best for 2004.

XANTIUM's FrontPage OzXodus Xenium review

>> Official Xenium website:
http://www.ozxodus.com

What's in the package:
* The Xenium modchip

Pictures (pre-production prototype ... final will probably look a bit different):

(IMG:http://pictures.xbox-scene.com/4/xenium/xs01.jpg)
(IMG:http://pictures.xbox-scene.com/4/xenium/xs02.jpg)
(IMG:http://pictures.xbox-scene.com/4/xenium/xs03.jpg)
(IMG:http://pictures.xbox-scene.com/4/xenium/xs04.jpg)

Install the Modchip:
The Xenium modchip can be installed with all known LPC install methods: with headerpin, with wires (connected to the quicksolder pads) and quicksolder (alias X1-style). This version of the Xenium also has a d0 connector (not compatible with the one used on X2 or XBIT) for easy hot-swap or d0 can be connected to a simple solderpad on the modchip for those who prefer. For v1.5 a wire from the power/ground point can simply be relinked to a working power/ground.
The Chameleon nosolder adaptor can be used with the Xenium.

There will also be a solderless Xenium version (probably using pogopins and springwire for d0 like the chameleon). There will be a connector for alternative power (xbox v1.5).

I will not go deeper into each install method. All known/popular install methods are available, so everyone should be happy :-)

Testing
Let me first say both the hardware and software (XeniumOS) I tested was NOT final. The modchip is a preproduction prototype and the XeniumOS is an alpha/test release.

Now let's take a look at what makes this modchip different from the previous generation.
The modchip contains a great 'operating system', called XeniumOS, included directly on the chip. XeniumOS is based on linux (means that it's legal) and allows you to fully manage your modchip.
The Xenium modchip has a 2MB flash, 1MB is reserved for XeniumOS and 1MB can be used to store your bioses.
The Xenium modchip can only be flashed through XeniumOS so it can't be flashed by any program that doesn't have permission to do so. As you can always boot to XeniumOS, you can always reflash your bios if you have a corrupted bios image. So this is what you could call software-based flash protection.
XeniumOS allows you to select the multi-bios mode (4x256K, 2x512K, 2x256K + 1x512K or 1x1024K) and you can also flash...
(IMG:http://www.xbox-scene.com/imageserver4/xenium/OS4.jpg)
...your banks separately (with a bios file from CD/DVD or HDD).

(IMG:http://www.xbox-scene.com/imageserver4/xenium/OS2.jpg)
The modchip will always boot to XeniumOS first. There you can reboot your xbox with the bios bank you select or boot with the onboard bios (modchip disabled). There are several ways to do this:
* After you assigned controller buttons to bios banks you can select the bios with 1 push on the controller. This is the first time you can actually select your bios with a simple press on one of the button of your xbox controller while your xbox is booting - no need to move switches manually anymore.
* Enter XeniumOS and select bank on screen
(IMG:http://www.xbox-scene.com/imageserver4/xenium/OS1.jpg)
* Press nothing and after a timeout (that you can modify yourself) the Xbox will reboot with the default bios (which u can also set yourself).

(IMG:http://www.xbox-scene.com/imageserver4/xenium/OS3.jpg)
The XeniumOS version I tested also included EEPROM management (see screenshot) where you can modify things like video region, game region and DVD-region. You can even store a backup of your EEPROM on the modchip.
You will ofcourse always be able to upgrade your XeniumOS to the latest version - I'm sure OzXodus will add new cool features later. Now if an upgrade of XeniumOS would fail, or if the OS would get corrupted for some reason, OzXodus included a safe-boot (with switch on PCB or if you solder optional E-wire you can also use power/reset button) so you can always restore the OS (with image from CD/DVD).
The version we had didn't have it yet, but we received information from OzXodus that XeniumOS will soon also include HDD tools like lock/unlock, format, ...

The Xenium also has a bright multi-color led, that can indicate the status of the modchip. The led can for example indicate if modchip is enabled or disabled (boot from tsop) and it will also show from which bank you are booting. The PCB under the led is even made transparent so you can also see the led flashing from the other side.

The Xenium modchip also has a SPI port. I think a lot of people don't realize how great that concept is. Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is a known way for devices to communicate with eachother. While an obvious upgrade would be extra flash chips (extra capacity for bigger bioses if this will ever be needed), lots more *would* be possible with a SPI port (usb, network, ...) . I don't know what OzXodus plans to do with the SPI port (right now it's not used for anything), but it offers the Xenium modchip a lot of flexibility for upgrades.

About the price there's nothing I can say at this moment as the retail/wholesale prices haven't been released yet.
The modchip is expected to be available in stores sometime later this month (Jan 2004).

POSITIVE:
+ Legal Linuxbased software control
+ Software to flash bioses is directly on modchip and thus always available
+ EEPROM control/backup in XeniumOS
+ Muti-bios: 1x1MB, 4x256K, 2x512K, 2x256K 1x512K
+ New features to XeniumOS can be added at any time
+ Failsafe, you can always boot to XeniumOS to reflash your bios. There's even a safe-mode if the XeniumOS is corrupted.
+ 'Quick Assign' buttons ... select bios bank with your gamepad
+ Boottime-out ... Xbox will autoboot with default bios if no button is pressed
+ All install methods are available
+ SPI port ... offers endless possible hardware upgrades

NEGATIVE:
- Only 1MB of the 2MB flashchip available for your bioses ... but again, should be enough and an addon via the SPI port is always possible
- Longer boottime (will always bootup XeniumOS first)

You can always find this review back on http://www.xbox-scene.com/hardware/xenium.php  <

I know some people are eager to see the Xenium boot up.. well.. here's the worlds first videos of the Xenium booting.

http://pictures.xbox-scene.com/hsdemonz/xe...t_zero_wait.mpg
http://pictures.xbox-scene.com/hsdemonz/xe...t_zero_wait.m1v

You'll note that the XeniumOS boots itself prior to the XBLOB animation.

Concerns about the time delay during boot seem moot when you see it in action.  <

Wow.. had the scoop for all of 20 minutes. smile.gif Course.. I still got both vids.. and they are only releasing ONE! smile.gif

Anyways...

http://www.ozxodus.com/

Well my friends, its update time again and we have many things to talk about! We had intended to begin unveiling our many new and exciting features one by one for you but is seems we have been beaten to it!!

It didn’t take long did it? Isn’t it funny how things have been really quiet over the past few months while our friends on the other side of the trenches had it their own way. The minute we announce the launch of yet another groundbreaking, revolutionary new product for you, people start jumping around, guns blazing, rockets firing, in a frenzy of aimless activity and diversionary tactics while they scramble in vain to prepare their artillery.? We love it! We love the attention and the hype our friends are helping to create and we thank them for the incredible marketing job they are doing for us and all for FREE!! To be elevated by our friends to 4th generation pioneers is truly an honour and we thank them.

As I said in my last update. We are back! Wake up Colonel your army is deserting, the general is in town! All we know how to do is create waves and shake up the scene a little. When you are first in innovation and design you don’t really mind the attention, in fact you revel in it while others try to catch up. Remember, my friends there can only be one first place. Everything else is second, or third for that matter.

My friends let me enlighten you with a few facts to put a smile on your faces:
Only four samples of Xenium have been produced and shipped. Is it not funny that comparison tables are being done without ever having seen or used either product?
X3 is as virtual as the Xenium that has not been physically seen or tested.
The side-splitting table we have seen reads more like the X3 wish list than actual reality.
Where exactly is the X3? The only one I know of is made by BMW and that one works wonderfully. The virtual X3 is promising a 400 mhz cpld controller which will only ever be clocked at 33mhz. Imagine your BMW X3 with a 4.2 V8 engine and 200 miles on the clock which is governed at 20 miles per hour!! Would you buy it? We too can create the Xenium VII with features so great and unique, in the land of make believe. (Due for release in 2045).

Attached to this post is a real live actual factual video clip showing Xenium OS at work. As I have said before we do not make promises we do not keep.

Download video http://downloads.ozx...t_zero_wait.rar

We will be posting regular updates on the many and varied ACTUAL features offered on our product for you to see. With less than a weak before the first units start shipping it will not be long before you can try and test these features for yourselves

ANNOUNCING OUR NEW MARKETING TEAM: (BIGGER AND STRONGER AND 3X STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE)

To be elevated by our friends to 4th generation pioneers is truly an honour and we thank them.

Have just had a look at the forums and it seems that the job was done better than we thought. All our friends out there are hoping we will not retaliate. Retaliate to what? Were we attacked? Even fools know that apples need to be compared to apples and not to virtual apples. We are not childish. We will not retaliate. No need for counter tables and stuff. Facts are facts, first is first period. You cannot blame us for a bit of harmless fun. As we said before, trust OzXodus to bring back some life to the scene!

As I said in my last update. We are back! All we know how to do is create waves and shake up the scene a little. When you are first in innovation and design you don’t really mind the attention, in fact you revel in it while others try to catch up. Remember, my friends there can only be one first place. PUT YOUR CARDS ON THE TABLE (IF YOU DARE)

OzXodus posts full introduction to Xenium
>> Team OzXodus released an introduction to their new Xenium modchip (reviewed last week by xbox-scene):

INTRODUCING, THE XENIUM!
The first chip to offer fully software controlled user interface that opens up possibilities and options never dreamed possible before! No longer is a chip limited to hardware controlled switching and countless add-ons and external devices.

FEATURES: HARDWARE
1. NO DIP SWITCHES
2. Multiple install method, Quick-solder, pin header (supplied), wire. (Solder-less Adaptor + D0 wire loom available shortly).
3. Dual SPI port for unlimited future add-on?s
4. Compatible with all known consoles to date (v1.0 ? v1.5)
5. Full colour Status/Bank LED (no more Live banning!)
6. Hardware protected Emergency Recovery System (ERS). (No reason to ever remove chip for bad XeniumOS update)
7. Inbuilt Flash system. No more need for direct connection to computer ( No more troublesome LPT or USB programmers)
8. D0 Control .. SAVE YOUR CONSOLE .. with D0 control we ensure the minimal stress is applied to the D0 line by only pulsing D0 at reset time, all other times the D0 is left free..
9. Small compact design with no complicated forced extras for the unit to function.

FEATURES: SOFTWARE
Undoubtedly, one of the most unique and exciting new developments on the Xenium is the Xenium OS. With features and options too many to mention and many more possibilities still being explored it is no wonder we are branding this the chip of the future! Listed below are merely a few of the major ones for you wet your appetites!

BANKING SYSTEMS
(IMG:http://66.111.59.177/pictures/Banking_systems.jpg)
Choose from : 1MB, 512/512k, 256/256/256/256k, 256/256/512k
Set through XUI, the user can simply configure the bank operation mode of his Xenium through a simple onscreen menu, and the use of the joypad.

BOOT BANK OPTIONS
* Default Boot Bank Quick-start
(IMG:http://66.111.59.177/pictures/Default_Boot_Bank.jpg)
User can choose to set a default boot bank ranging from any one of the banks mentioned in the Banking Systems above, to the stock onboard tssop bios and even the in built Linux derived Cromwell(info).

Once the default bank is set and the optional boot delay time set to 0sec, Xenium OS will boot to preset default bios with in under 4 sec from power up, every subsequent warm reset will not reboot Xenium OS, it will simply restart the preset bios.

Quick Select
(IMG:http://66.111.59.177/pictures/Quick_Select.jpg)
The four color buttons of the joy pad (A , X, Y, B) can be pre programmed. In the comfort and ease of X-UI you can boot into any one of the banks mentioned above ( including fully disabling the chip) , by simply booting the console and holding down any one of these buttons. The Xenium OS will sense your choice and in less than a 1/10th of a second make your selection real !! (try that with a clumsy switch!!)
* Boot to Xenium-UI
To complete our boot selection options, the Xenium can be configured to default boot to XUI, where a boot bank clearly named in plain text can be chosen and booted into.

Bios Naming
(IMG:http://66.111.59.177/pictures/key_board.jpg)
(IMG:http://66.111.59.177/pictures/Bank_Rename.jpg)
(IMG:http://66.111.59.177/pictures/auto_rename.jpg)
In order to offer our customers the ultimate in confort and control, we went into considerable trouble to implement the bios naming and auto-naming features. By using a standardized bios, Xenium?OS has the ability to recognize and automatically name your banks for you. Even where you use a customized bios , you still have the option to manually name the bank through a virtual on-screen keyboard.

Bios Flashing
(IMG:http://66.111.59.177/pictures/eeprom_tools.jpg)
By stretching the bounds of current technology, the Xenium-OS offers you the ease of flashing your bios by either simply browsing through your HDD, or using the CDROM with a specific file( we will have a beta CDROM file browser out very soon). By simply selecting the file you want and then the bank you want to flash to, you are one push of a button away from completing the flash of your bank. Yes it?s that simple !!!

EEPROM TOOLS
(IMG:http://66.111.59.177/pictures/Bios_Flash1.jpg)
The Xenium-OS comes prepacked with an inbuilt set of EEPROM tools. Apart from firstly being able to backup your VERY important eeprom data onto the onboard flash rom of the Xenium, Xenium-OS give you the ability to easily and quickly alter the following factory settings of your console:
1. Pal/Ntsc Video Mode
2. Game Region
3. DVD Region

Of course you can always restore your eeprom data from a previously saved copy ;-)
The Features mentioned above are the starting features of Xenium-OS v1.0 .. by the time the first Xenium chips reach any one of our customers we expect to have released Xenium V1.1 where we would have added some more exciting new features. The joys of having our own OS to play with are only in their infancy .

These are only a few of the major features you can enjoy immediately. Naturally there are a great deal more that we are working on and have planned for release in future Xenium OS updates. These will be available free from our site www.ozXodus.com So stay tuned!

Reply from OzXChip about Xenium-SmartXX link
>> We received this mail from OzXChip about news released by SmartXX earlier today( http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/Ep...ZyugbgMWDhK.php ):
QUOTE

The following statement has been issued by the former team members OzXChip in relation to the development of the Xenium:

Several months ago it was mentioned on the OzXChip forums that we were working on a new design called the OzXChip II that would deliver new levels of control, flexibility and upgradeability.
The relationship that was formed to develop the OzXChip II broke down due to diversities of opinion within the development team and the project was then aborted.
The core members of OzXChip who had originally created the OzXChip II design as far back as February 2003, then formed an alliance with Xodus to implement the technology into Xodus’ hardware and this has lead to the development of the Xenium and the formation of OzXodus.
The disbanding of the OzXChip II development team lead to an alternative device called SmartXX being developed. This group behind this alternative device has made claims on a German website as to the origin of the Xenium claiming it is based on “old sources”.

With the assistance of the Xodus’ development team, OzXChip have completely redesigned the software control system to allow for even greater flexibility and future improvements. With the very talented Xodus guys we have managed to develop a superior design in terms of both the hardware and software in a much shorter timeframe. The efficiency and professionalism of our new relationship as OzXodus is obvious with a ground-up redesign hitting the market so fast it has caused many waves.
We wish these former members of the old OzXChip II development team all the best with their latest project, we just hope that these members will come to realise that a project like the OzXChip II should have been fun, and not the disaster it turned out to be.
It is with great pleasure that OzXChip is able to finally bring our design to the market with our new partners in OzXodus, we are extremely confident that we can finally get down to doing what we do best and that is developing innovative new technology for your favourite console.
If the last month and a half are anything to go by you can be sure that OzXodus will continue to bring you innovation, professionalism and quality products.

The Xenium is here and is out ;-), the OzXChip II is not. The only historical link and parallel that is relevant today is that the name OzX was associated with the original design and that name is also part of our new design. We fail to see how we could “steal” or copy our own concept from ourselves. OzXChipII by OzXChip now OzXodus .. see our simple point ? Would there be a smartxx chip without OzXChipII ? ..hmm I wonder …As we have done, we suggest our friends look to the future and develop better, more innovative products for the consumer.

Update from OzXodus - Xenium shipping!
>> From ozxodus.com:
QUOTE

WE HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!!!
Delivery, Delivery, Delivery
We have delivered and are delivering as we speak!

We promised you that we would have a Xenium chip in your living rooms in less than three weeks from announcing the first features and we are way ahead of schedule. First OFFICIAL feature list posted 13th January 2004. First unofficial feature list (thanks to our marketing friends) posted 9th January 2004. First promise made (New Year resolution) posted December 31st 2003. Here are some facts for you: Official feature list to release date-2days, unofficial feature list to release date-6 days, first promise of release date to release date 15 days. BEAT THAT!!

We are proud, very proud, and have many team members and staff to thank and praise for the outstanding work done and the tireless hours and sleepless nights spent to meet deadlines and targets. With such a large global team at work on this project it is difficult to thank you all individually here but you all know who you are and we have done something, that is yet another first. We have delivered on our promise!! The marriage of our two teams had one major drive and ambition and that was to bring professionalism, quality and service to our trusted and loyal customers and consumers. Obviously, a major component in making these facts real is living up to extremely high standards we set by being leaders in our field and by keeping our promises to all of you. And YES we have done it ahead of schedule!! For those of you that may not have picked up what we are trying to say or are too lazy to read all the credits above, here it is in bold:
XENIUM IS OUT AND IS NOW SHIPPING!!

WE HAVE DONE IT AGAIN (part 2)
It seems that the stunned silence we have created on the scene this past week was too good to be true! Well we have said we like making waves and ….yes…you guessed it…we have done it again. No sooner had our hardware battles subsided to a dull roar than our software battles have begun. I tell you it is tough at the top! Although there will be an official response by our team members OzXChip about the accusations made we would like to officially state that we are a team and that we stand united. (Funny how they chose our scheduled release date to bring this up). But that is all the justification and response that such nonsense deserves so we will not allow anyone one to burst our bubble today!! That would not be too smart would it? ;-) The proof is in the pudding and our pudding is on the table!!!

Finally, we would like to say a special thanks to all of you out there that have overwhelmed us with e-mails to place orders. Your support is fantastic and we are truly grateful for your loyalty and trust in the team and the product. We are really doing our best to keep up with the unexpected demand and to our resellers we ask for a little patience as we are forced to part ship larger orders so as to be more fair to all.

You can order the Xenium now from Divineo or Xbox-Wired

neXgen news: Xenium Support
>> We received this news from Team XoS:
QUOTE

We just thought we would give a quick update on some of the new features we have added to neXgen(info) this week:
* Menu Caching System (improved boot time)
* XML Support
* Xenium Supoort (reboot to Xenium-OS & hopefully more features to come)

Since we are opensource & like to give to the community here is the code used for xenium support:
_outp(0xef, 0x01);
m_xkutils.XBOXReset();

We don't want to ask for much but to be credited for our work & the work OzXodus has put into developing the Xenium.

Warning From OzXodus
>> WARNING:

These are the kinds of posts that we really don’t like making, but we promised quality and service and we feel that it is our duty to warn all our loyal dealers, distributors and of course the end users and fans out there about some really disturbing findings that have recently been brought to our attention.

Certain unscrupulous dealers are offering “Xenium” chips at ridiculously low prices. (see listing below) We have complete control of our own original stock and pricing and therefore know that this pricing structure is impossible to justify legitimately. There can only be one possible answer to this; you are being ripped off!! Scam artists have always been there and have always profited off the backs of others or off the naiveté of misinformed consumers. We will not allow that and will do whatever is necessary to protect the integrity and reputation of our brand. We cannot sit back and watch our brand being associated with complete scam artists out to make a quick buck and blow up your consoles.

We have it on good authority that fake chips are currently being promised for sale through these particular dealers and manufacturers who have lost the battle to innovate and therefore resort to working on this other stuff ;-). (Assuming they even manage to bring them to market in the next two weeks) Our warning to dealers, distributors and retail customers alike is be careful! We WILL NOT guarantee or support anything else but official OzXodus product. Buying fakes will be at your own risk!

We would like to thank all our loyal fans and distributors who have flooded our e-mail with advice and concern about this scam. We will be updating the list below of all scam artists. For accredited customers and distributors please see list on our site. We also invite all of you to report any suspicious dealers and fakes to [email protected]

On a lighter note, the Xenium has truly lived up to its billing as a revolutionary product. This must be some new record for how quickly a chip has made enough impact and noise to be copied, and honestly we take it as a compliment.. However, as we have said time and time again only one team can be first and only one team can be genuine and original, everything else is just second!

Take care and thanks for your loyalty and support.

Your team. The original

Team OzXodus

Video and Features of new XeniumOS v1.1
>> Some people apparently managed to get an early release of the XeniumOS v1.1 beta on the official ozxodus website, but the file has been removed in meantime, probably because it wasn't fully finished yet (it wasn't announced on the news yet either).
MancModder posted a video of the new XeniumOS v1.1 beta on forums.xbox-scene.com. It shows the new 'Instant Boot' feature and also how fast the new XeniumOS boots up. The video refers to the SmartXX movie (by elses) released some time ago (see news).
Download XeniumOS v1.1 video: here (906KB)

Also (some of?) the new features have been posted by oblox on forums.xbox-scene.com (THESE FEATURES ARE NOT CONFIRMED BY OZXODUS!):
QUOTE

1)Configuration
a)Settings Menu
i)Instant Boot ™: (When you power on your X-Box it instantly boots your default OS - press the eject button to boot into the Xenium OS)
NB The 'Display Hardware Info' section will tell you your OS version

b)Bios/Bank Configuration
i)Bank LED Colours
NB Autonaming Banks feature not working (maybe why they removed the update??)

c)Disk Tools

iii)Smart Drive Upgrade
iv)Copy Partitions
v)Format Partitions

- Focus/Component video support: Xenium-OS will now work with component video cables (HDTV) on V1.4 & V1.5 consoles.
- Focus video resolution: Xenium-OS resolution for the focus chipset has been increased to 800x600 so all screens are identical for Conexant & Focus owners.
- Boot without controllers: There is no longer a need for a controller to be present when booting to a default bios from Xenium-OS.
- Controller compatibility: A range of third party controllers, steering wheels, lightguns and IR remotes are now compatible with the Xenium-OS. Please report any further incompatibilities on our message forums at http://www.ozxodus.com
- EEprom Tools LED warning: Console's power LED now changes to RED when saving EEprom data as a safety measure.
- Onscreen keyboard overlap with Focus chipset: Some keys were not visible when using a V1.4 or V1.5 console.
- HDD Browser bug: When exiting the browser without selecting a file, Xenium-OS will not lockup anymore.

NEW FEATURES
- Instant Boot ™: The ability to instantly boot your console using the default bios and skip the Xenium-OS splash page. Once enabled in the Xenium-OS settings menu you can power on your console using the power button and boot to the default bios, otherwise press the Eject button to start your console up in the Xenium-OS. No additional hardware install wires are required for this feature!!
- Onscreen Keyboard Upgrade: Symbols are now available for bios naming.
- Bank LED Colors: Assign a different color of the Xenium's LED to each bios bank. Default colors are Bank 1 = Green, Bank 2 = Red, Bank 3 = Blue, Bank 4 = Amber.

- Format Partitions: Individually format your C,E,F,X,Y and Z partitions.
- Autodetection of X2 4981 series bioses.
- IR Support: You can navigate the Xenium-OS with your IR remote control using the following button mappings.

===============
Up,Down,Left & Right buttons = Controller's D-PAD
Select or 1 buttons = Controller's A button
2 buttons = Controller's B button
3 buttons = Controller's X button
4 buttons = Controller's Y button
Additional QuickStart buttons
=============================
Menu button = Controller's White button
Back button = Controller's B button
0 button = Controller's Black button

KNOWN BUGS
- When two devices are inserted into both memory card slots on a single controller, Xenium-OS navigation is not possible. To resolve this problem simply remove one device. Fault confirmed with 2 x memory cards as well as 1 x memory card and 1 x voice communicator.
- Controller button sensitivity may vary depending on what controller combinations are installed into what ports.
- Failure to boot Original Bios, this bug has been documented on our forums although at this point we have not been able to simulate the fault. We suggest that if you experiance this problem that you use a bios bank to enter the MS Dashboard and confirm your date and time settings are correct, thus far this is the most effective way to rectify the problem.

More about Xenium OS Update V1.1
>> From ozxodus.com:
QUOTE

As promised, we are back again with more details and information for you. As far as we can tell the update has been very well received and has delivered on promises made (once again)
Of course, the main feature that we wanted to scream and shout about was the Instant Boot System which we took a great deal of pride and effort in. Somehow, between the release of the Beta version for testing and our final release hours later, the unofficial version was leaked and got into the wrong hands. Anyway, no use crying over spilt milk, the feature is there and is working beautifully. We have implemented stricter and tighter control methods within our own team and our beta testing friends to ensure that these types of leaks do not happen again.
We are however aware that the need to fully test and verify updates with respected people in the scene is of paramount importance to the quality of our product and to ensure that we keep the high standards we demand for you, the consumer. The guarantee of this quality and properly tested software is far more important than secrecy and protectionism and therefore we will not compromise that at any price. We promised you the best and we will deliver the best no matter what.
We are also very aware that competition and challenge by other teams, (sometimes smartly done and other times not so smart) is to be expected and is part of the business. We welcome competition and challenge as ultimately all that will lead to better products for you. Our major objective though is to support our loyal fans and products with innovation and dedication second to none. After all, any Xenium user does not deserve any less!! We will not be led into slinging matches about who is better, our product is out and is working well. You be the judge.

TO BE OR NOT TO BE?
In conclusion we would like to say that we are working very hard for the betterment and development of a product that we promised would set a new standard in the industry. To the skeptics out there that say we may be arrogant in our attitude we would say that there is a very big difference between arrogance and pride. We do not take promises made to you very lightly and look to back them up with results. All but one of the bugs reported so far by you, the concerned consumer, have been fixed. The major concern of delays at boot up has been addressed and resolved. Exciting new features have also been added to enhance your experience but the innovation does not stop there, tomorrow we will be announcing another exciting new development, to further enhance your product.
Arrogance, maybe? Pride, definitely. The proof is in the pudding!
Thank you to all those that have bought and are using our product. Your support and encouragement is truly appreciated. As long as you have an original bought from an approved site all we can say is enjoy and have fun! Welcome to the family, we are proud to be associated with you and promise you continued support and innovation. Stay tuned tomorrow for more exciting news!

Thank you

Xenium announces LCD support
>> From ozxodus.com:
QUOTE

LCD FOR YOU LCD FOR ME!

It's tomorrow already, and as promised here is some good news for all our Xenium faithful. Xenium owners and potential owners will never be left out in the cold!
For all those of you who were wondering what on earth that little SPI connector was for, here is one really good use.
Announcing our new and improved LCD display feature. With a connector you simply plug in your LCD display and there we go! No mess, no fuss!

user posted image

The beauty of this baby is that it is fully software controlled (no need for difficult to find and in fact impossible to use turn screws at the bottom of the chip!) Contrast control, as well as backlight can be controlled by the push of a button.
Currently we have no firm plans to release our own hardware. What we would like to know is what interest is out there. Currently we have a few commonly found SPI LCD screens supported in the dev version of our software, however, if we find the demand is great enough we will do our best to make up complete hardware kits ( solderless of course :-P ).
Let us know, through our forums.
Enjoy the pics. We had a lot of fun doing the case mod. But beware, it aint all that easy :-) As we have said before, welcome to the fourth generation!!

OzXodus Cromwell sources released
>> From ozxodus.com:
QUOTE

As per the GPL requirements, we are publishing our Cromwell(info) source code. Please find below notes from our programming crew.

These sources are for the Cromwell derivative bootloader only. Cromwell is a bootloader, written under GPL by the xbox-linux team to load linux. We have modified it so that instead of loading and executing a linux kernel, it loads and executes the Xenium OS(info) environment.

The Xenium OS itself, and the XUI Menu system, are separate entities from the Crowmell derived loader. As they contain no GPL code, and are a separate binary, they are not considered a derived work, and are therefore not susceptible to GPL.

LCD or not? Is the raging debate of the moment. Xenium is a premium chip, with premium support and thus it is not only our duty but also our pleasure to bring you more and more fun features to play with. Whether you want an LCD or not is not really the issue. What is important is that once you have one what can you do with it?

FRAUDSTERS EXPOSED ! MODCHIP.CA no longer official Xenium resellers.

It has come to our attention that people are confused as to exactly what is happening regarding certain so called "respectable" sites selling fake chips. We had said earlier that we did not want to start a war with cloners and scam artists and for the main part that is still true BUT, when a supposed official reseller of ours starts to sell fake chips and tries to pass them off as authentic Xeniums we cannot and will not just sit back and keep quiet. It is one thing to openly sell "clones" but when you intentionally pass off fake chips as originals you are not only a blatant thief but a fraud and a downright criminal.

MODCHIP.CA is one such site and is the first that we have verified as a fraud. We can confirm that they did have original stock bought from us officially but they have not since re-ordered from us and are therefore willingly and knowingly selling "fakes" and passing them off as originals. WE WILL NOT ALLOW THIS and are extremely angry and disgusted at the audacity and cheek of such criminals to defraud you. What disgusts us is that these greedy, money hungry, thieves will go so far as to LIE to you and claim total innocence as if they did not know what they were buying. THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE. What really makes us wonder is how many other times this has been done by these thieves or how many other products they are passing off as "originals" to unsuspecting customers? (is anything sold by these guys authentic?) Fraud is a serious and punishable offence and we cannot sit back and let it continue.

We apologise for this long post but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. We urge all of you that have bought any fakes to report to us immediately and we will assist you in any way we can. Claim your money back and refuse any exchange. We will direct you to a proper and professional business. We WILL NOT SUPPLY these guys any more and until WE SAY SO, they will NEVER stock official OzXodus products. We do not and will not support FRAUDSTERS!!

Apologies for the delay in updates but we have really been hard at work supporting our product and developing new and exciting features for you. Contrary to murmurings and speculation on the scene we are now more determined than ever to continue leading and pioneering through our product and providing you with the best and most reliable chip on the market. Read on and you will see that, as stated many times before, WE DO NOT MAKE PROMISES WE DO NOT INTEND TO KEEP!
This update is a short and sweet one just to let you know what we are up to and what we have in store for you in the near future.
Of course, due to the sensitive nature of this business we have to keep actual details of what we are doing close to our chest so we will be updating you regularly with information about projects in progress and new features for your Xenium.

IN THE PIPELINE
* SOLDER LESS

user posted image

Naturally, the move to a complete solder less version of Xenium is something that you have all been asking about and waiting for anxiously. We are pleased to tell you that solder less adaptors are now in production and should be available for sale in a few days time.
We have modified and improved the older Chameleon adaptors and are very proud and excited about our new design. As you will see from the pics below, they are stronger and attach more securely. Rivets are now no longer needed, even though they will be supplied! We have already been in touch with our trusted official resellers and are working on aggressive pricing for the bundled Xenium solder less, or Xenium S as we like to call it.

* SOFTWARE
We have some very exciting news regarding Xenium OS(info) and we advise you to stay tuned in frequently to find out exactly what it is we are planning to do. This news will be BIG! No, in fact, HUGE! Naturally all will be revealed in due course and all we can say at the moment is that our original phrase "Out with the old in with the new" is as much of a hint as we will give at the moment!! Keep watching this space!

* THANKS
We would like to thank the team at XBMC for the efficient (and impressively quick) support work for our LCD. Thanks , great job! We are now working flat out to make this feature available to all of you ASAP.

That is all for now. More exciting news soon. We promise!

New Xenium clones?
>> Maxconsole.com reported that a new version of Xenium fakes/clones are being produced that fix many of the visual differences the first batch of clones had with the orignal/real Xeniums.

I searched for a new easy/fast way to detect the new fake/clone Xenium modchips (there are more diffs if you want ... this is just an example). This is a picture of an ORIGINAL Xenium. Looks in the 2 green circles I made. There's a white spot/point on the board. The new fake/clones don't have these.

As expected, the thieves over at the "fake factory" have been so badly criticized and have had so many come-backs that they have been hard at work revising and revamping their chip to get it closer to the original (in looks mainly). Seriously, even though they are clowns they at least have the common sense to admit failure in their first attempt and will try, try again. Below you will find pics of the 'new and improved' version. Sadly, there are still many obvious mistakes that have been made, which is why we cannot call them clones yet, they are still FAKES. Very rough and raw and badly manufactured fakes. Copying is really easy, replicating and cloning is not that simple and straightforward is it?

We are now issuing our third and final warning. It is not about the few extra bucs saved as many people are thinking. It is about the few extra bucs lost when these chips fail. Many retailers have finally realized their mistake and are scrambling around to recover huge losses in capital outlay. All of a sudden chips are starting to fry without warning and failing in many other ways. What amazes us is how utterly naïve and short sighted some people are in that they try them out initially and assume they will work forever! Genuine Xeniums have been out in the market for over three months and have proven themselves in more ways than one. Fakes have not. WE HAVE NEVER LIED TO YOU AND DO NOT INTEND TO START NOW! FAKES WILL NOT WORK! We will not issue any further warnings after this post. It is now up to you.

Ok, so it's time to start shaking things up a bit. As we have said many times before, we love being first with groundbreaking developments, so here we go...

For obvious reasons, we will be supplying you with small tidbits of information as to what our HUGE news is all about. As is to be expected from a team like ours, (unlike many others) we only begin releasing information days before we are ready to release, so we will be posting regular hints before the start of the new REVOLUTION!
Our developments are so HUGE, and GROUNDBREAKING, that we are forced to jump straight from version 1.1 to version 2.0. Our new core advancements not only provide more stability and flexibility, but will help to expedite our unique development process, and will open up doors and break through boundaries never possible before.
We have been working really hard and as we reveal more and more features in upcoming posts you will be amazed at what has been achieved!

That should be enough to get you guessing for now.
Stay tuned!

P.s. (could not resist one more hint) There are also new developments and improvements to our very own Super Crypt Stealth ACT system, that has been around since version 1.x, and is bigger and better than ever before.

At xboxopensource.com we feel we cannot keep out mouth shut any longer, we have all been in the scene for a while and have seen things develop from 29wire mods to 4th Gen mods (Xenium & SmartXX). We are part of this scene for the fun of it, we do not make money from Hardware mods, banner exchanges or any other source, so we are not making this statement for financial reasons.

Mods have been released to allow people to mod their xbox for free (cheap mod) and the we have never been scared of giving information to the masses (thanks www.xbox-scene.com) but the emergence of clones is a total disgrace, if someone spends time and money in developing hardware mods they should at least be given the chance to re-claim their outlay. And don't forget they have on-going development costs when it comes to OS releases. At the end of the day people selling clones are not only stealing from OzXodus but they are also affecting the future of the Xenium modchip and hence everyone that purchased a legitimate chip.

We need to get rid of this cancer before it starts to take hold, what ever they say about their product being just as good as the original cant be true, yes it may look 99% the same but from what I have seen there are some small but major differences, traces are not to the same standard as the original mods, so what you may think, but when its the trace that provides power to the chip and it cant feed the correct current do you think this will be good?

If someone else made a copy of an xbox with a box that looked the same would you consider buying it? No. Just because it looks the same doesn.t mean it is.
We should make it part of our mission to stamp out this disgrace before it starts to take over the entire scene.

REDEFINING THE WORDS "INTERFACE" AND "USER FRIENDLY"
We have a fully revamped User Interface with specific features never possible before. Ease of use and set up will be a breeze.
In fact, we have redefined the whole x-box to pc communications with different and unique methods, services and interfaces that you could only have dreamed of before!
Ftp support is fully integrated and therefore hassle free. (Unlike some current archaic systems).
Web support will include more power and flexibility than anything available at the moment.
Of course, with us, being us, that would not be enough to WOW you, and competition does not allow us to reveal all, but lets just say that there are one or two more surprises that will make your life even easier and will provide for even more ubiquitous communications between your X-box and PC.
Wish lists from all of you in forums and mails have been answered, will be made possible, and then some!
If that is not enough to excite you and get you drooling there will be more to come!

P.S. Super Crypt Stealth ACT System has caused quite a stir already and we are sure that its inclusion in previous versions of Xenium OS as well as the newly re-boosted version set for Xenium OS2 will be very well received and appreciated.

Looks like the ante in the "competition" stakes has been upped considerably with the usual, "anything you can do I can do better", banter being thrown around. Welcome back! We missed you. Honestly. Not many teams can take our jests and jokes and provide the quality competition this industry deserves. (Once we get these clown fakers dead and buried we can then concentrate on the REAL STUFF) Besides that, fun times have already been here in case you had not noticed! So let's play! Since we have an ACTUAL product to play with, we will go first. (as usual).

Innovation is not that easy, it seems, in our little world of reality. Playing with colors is neither unique nor THAT difficult to do. We must learn to walk before we can run and 4th generation is a privilege that must be EARNED and proven before we can brand ourselves anything we dream up!

With that being said, here are a few more ideas being developed on OUR fourth generation chips, that are out and working (well at least the genuine ones are:-)) Once again, we're not mentioning even half of what is possible under our new system, but it should be more than enough to wet your appetite, and keep those amateur spin video makers busy?

First... We know that some of you have had problems in the past with the fact that our chip offers less flash space than some competitors, and possible future competitors. We can't say too much without giving things away, but we've resolved these concerns with our new Flash Unconstrained Core Kernel Initialization Technology. Combined with our Dynamic Bios Cooking Technology, we're quite confident that you'll never have to worry about flash space again!

Not enough?
We are also pursuing the possibility of Post-Boot Onboard Flash Access which, among other things, will allow certain recovery techniques which were previous only possible with hardware, and involved tricky soldering. It would now be done completely from software!
We must also remember dear friends that our LEGAL OS is... well.....exactly that; legal.
Just to hot things up a bit more. Release date?
Let’s just say that we have a track record for fulfilling promises professionally and efficiently. So, release date for beta? Soon. Very soon!

The time has finally come when all of us here at Team OzXodus, have decided to stop playing games and move to the next level. Accusations by many skeptics out there have been rife and, actually, for a large part, justified. As we have said many times before it has been very difficult to reveal all our secrets and plans and we have taken it all quietly and patiently. Delays in updates, secrecy, childish posts, lack of protection for our product, are just a few of the sentiments we have picked up over the past few months. Despite that, all our loyal supporters have remained loyal and have kept their faith in us and, in fact, sales figures have far surpassed expectations. The news we are about to reveal will explain some of our strategy, will provide clarification and justification for the above statements, and most importantly, will further prove why loyal Xenium supporters will never be let down or deceived.

DEATH TO THE FAKES:
All fake Xenium clones WILL FAIL. It is just a matter of when. There is a reason why our chip is branded 4th generation and that reason is very simple and straightforward. Xenium OS(info).
No O.S; No chip.
Simple enough?

Super Crypt Stealth ACT.
Super = super, Crypt Stealth= secret, A.C.T.= Anti Clone Technology. So, once the shock and horror has sunk in let us assure you of our GUARANTEE! We can, we already have, and we will continue to remove our OS from any fake chip. PERIOD. Many fakes have already started to die and the rest will soon follow. It is just a matter of time.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank co-developers such as k3rn3l from Xecuter for the advice and guidance about ensuring adequate protection early on and would like to say that we do listen! We also know what we are doing and are very sure that true developers will banter and compete fairly and openly for market share but when it comes to low life scum who threaten the betterment and development of the scene we have to pull together. (Don’t know if that is the common view of other teams but that is definitely the view of this team.)
We have warned and warned and even hinted many times, but it seems some retailers and the stupid cloners themselves are so greedy that they chose to ignore us, and in fact continue to arrogantly threaten and gloat. We hope that these people who have promised two for one guarantees now see how utterly pathetic and stupid they really are. Two of anything that does not work is even worse than one that does not work. What sort of guarantee is that?
We hope that customers who have been ripped off and defrauded of their money are determined enough to demand their money back so that they can finally buy a GENUINE working Xenium. Should you need any assistance and advice please get in touch with us and we will gladly help.

Xantium's Review: Xenium Solderless Adaptor
>> I got a 'Xenium Solderless Adaptor' some time ago, I finally got my photocamera back from the store (was broken) ... so here's the review. In meantime the adaptor is released in the retail stores already!

Where to buy::
Divineo.com $19.99 (adaptor alone)
Divineo.com $59.99 (Xenium S (adaptor + Xenium modchip))
XboxChips.com £38.95 (Xenium S (adaptor + Xenium modchip))
Or any other official OzXodus reseller.

Official Website::
http://www.ozxodus.com

What's in the package::
* The Xenium Solderless adaptor
* Special longer screw
* Rivets (optional install)
All packed and protected in a hard plastic box.

Pictures::
http://pictures.xbox.../xeniums/01.jpg
http://pictures.xbox.../xeniums/02.jpg
http://pictures.xbox.../xeniums/03.jpg
http://pictures.xbox.../xeniums/04.jpg

What you need to install it::
* a v1.0-v1.5 Xbox
* a TORX 10 and 20
* clear diagrams of "d0" point for your xbox version
* a Xenium modchip (it will not work with any other modchip, besides the discontinued chameleon)

Install the Modchip::
The 'Xenium solderless adaptor' is a special adaptor that will allow you to install the Xenium modchip solderless.
Well ... they just made the original better. The 'Xenium solderless adaptor' is a renewed/better version of the 'Chameleon Solderless adaptor'. You can easily see the difference between the old and the new: the Chameleon adaptor is black, the new Xenium one is purple/blue. Make sure you buy the new one if you plan to buy this.
The new adaptor does not require any "rivets" (some kinda small pins you can put in the LPC holes so the pogopins make good contact) anymore.
They also made the "spring-wire" (hard wire you can bend into the "D0" point) more solid.
The small "hole" they made in the plastic mold (so the adaptor doesn't touch a capacitor on xbox v1.2+) is now smooth and it doesn't look like it has been cut out manually anymore.

With this all they managed to make the install even easier. Basicly you just open your Xbox (that's what will take you most time), you unscrew the motherboardscrew near the LPC, you 'click' the Xenium solderless adaptor into the LPC points, put in the special (longer) screw, screw till it 'stops', lift up the "spring-wire" and depose it into the "D0" point. After that you just have to put the Xenium modchip on the adaptor's headerpin and close your Xbox again.

I tried this on 3 xbox units, and it never failed, worked each time from the first try ... I never even watched under the adaptor to make sure it was all good aligned or so ... it's 'automatically' correctly aligned. Why? because the adaptor's pogopins and spring-wire go 'in' the points and not 'over' (or 'on top of') the points. Because aligning is no longer required this solderless adaptor can easily beat any 'solder install' speed-wise.
You will still get the 'rivets' with the adaptor as theoretically these will offer better contact - but for the tests I did they were never necessary.

Testing::
I shaked my Xbox a lot ... the adaptor didn't move and contact with all points stayed very stable.

POSITIVE::
+ Ultra easy and fast install.
+ Best solderless method ("spring wire") for "D0"
+ No need for "rivets" anymore
+ LPC and D0 points are very stable.
+ No 'aligning' difficulties what-so-ever, neither for the LPC points nor for "D0".

NEGATIVE::
- The price of the adaptor alone - combined with the Xenium modchip the price is better ... so better buy it together :-)

Xbox goes RTOS in Xenium OS(info) 2.0

We've promised you it was coming. We promised you it would be groundbreaking. We told you it would be 'soon'.... and it's taken longer then even WE expected. We've promised you there was good reason. Now, it's time for us to lay it all on the line.
It is coming... In fact, it is nearly here. Within 2 days, the first round of betas will make their way out of the innermost circle of OzXodus, and into the hands of our friends and supporters.

It is groundbreaking... In fact, it could change the face of the scene forever. We've told you this before.... now let us take a moment to explain what we have done.
Several months ago, the entire OzXodus team sat down together to discuss the future development of XOS. We decided we had 2 options. We could either stay with a Cromwell(info) based "os" or completely re-implement XOS, from the ground up, as an entirely new operating system. We weighed both options very carefully before making our decision.
Cromwell was a great advancement in Xbox development. It's innovators and core supporters (Andy, Milosch, Ed, Oliver, DMP, etc..) brought the first legal firmware replacement, and it will have it's place in both Xbox and open-source history. However, Cromwell, as a basis for an operating system, is severely limited. It was never meant to be anything more then a firmware, and Linux loader. Designing and programming around that fact has proved a difficult and slow process. So, instead of continuing to work in a restricted and inappropriate environment, we instead opted to rewrite XOS, from the ground up, Cromwell free.

As a true, independent, microkernel operating system, XOS2 provides a complete basis for potentially ANY utility, tool, application, or service to be written to run directly on XOS. It provides an extensive set of low level and mid level functionality to any higher level applications and services. It has a full driver subsystem, to support current and future hardware. (Thankfully, this made v1.6 support rather easy!) It has a full graphics API, including UI primitives, a feature rich text rendering engine, a loader for various image formats (jpeg, gif, png, bitmap, etc) and preliminary GPU hardware acceleration. There is a complete Berkeley sockets TCP/IP implementation, including support for BOOTP, RARP, ARP, ICMP, UDP, TCP, and DNS protocols, allowing extensive network applications and services to be created. We've implemented a complete embedded scripting engine based on Lua 5.0 from TecGraf. The list of CORE functionality goes on and on.....
What does this mean for you, the end user? It means that, now, the potential of XOS is LIMITLESS.

Here is a list of just some of the things we've been able to do under our new environment, already, which you will see in the beta:
* Greatly improved user interface, combining crisp graphics with intuitive navigation, utilizing menus, popups, file selectors, alert/information/question dialogs, and task-specific dialogs such as an IP keypad and straightforward onscreen keyboard
* Brand new video drivers, providing a much cleaner, clearer picture
* Built-in FTP server, without relying on launching a second app or OS
* Full client/server SMB (Windows Networking) support, integrated directly with the file system drivers, allowing you to copy files Xbox->pc and pc->Xbox, from either XOS or your PC
* A preliminary telnet server (very much a work in progress, but something we hope will become a valuable tool in the future)
* Full DHCP support, with static IP fallback
* A new "Virtual Bank" system, eliminating the need for selecting bank modes, and greatly simplifying the flashing process
* A straightforward HDD upgrade wizard
* A detailed exception handler, which will generate an error report file to help us diagnose problems and fix bugs more rapidly
* Full no-copy, asynchronous (read: FAST) USB device support, including support for USB keyboard and mouse (UI integration still in progress)
* USB "Pen drive" support, allowing you to flash a bios and copy files from a USB memory stick or other mass storage device
* Improved HDD support, covering a wider range of drives and setups, including LBA48 and multiple hard drives
* UDMA support (disabled for beta) for maximum HDD performance
* File system cache for efficient file operations
* Raw I/O support for HDD operations (potential for utilities such as defrag, scandisk, etc)
* Vastly improved flashing speeds. (Erase, Flash, and Verify 256k in 6 seconds, 1 meg in 25.5 seconds!)
* Fully preemptive, multitasking kernel, supporting threading, semaphores, mailboxes, message passing, critical sections, etc.... with a task switch overhead of under 0.2 microseconds... allowing all services and applications to run concurrently and efficiently, without stability concerns
* DLL support to load add-ins and additional future functionality from HDD or flash
* Flash Unconstrained Core Kernel Initialization Technology, allowing you to load bioses directly from HDD, without flashing them to a bank

And some things which will not be in the beta, but which are being developed currently, and will be in an XOS-dev (unstable/testing) release shortly after:
* Full Web server for flashing and remote operation
* UI Skinning/Scripting (This actually exists in the beta, and is how we do all our UI, but the API will not be exposed at first)
* Screensavers

A couple of things that are "on the drawing board." Initial testing and proof-of-concept implementations have been done:
* Dash-In-Flash, allowing you to use XOS as your dashboard
* Bios Cooking... live bios configuration and extension, done in a way completely unlike anything that's been done or demonstrated before!
* Live update

Finally, we will be developing a series of applications and utilities to run on xos2. One of the most amazing things about XOS2 is that it opens the door to a whole new world of development and distribution methods for legal applications and utilities. For our first application, we're considering a port of a popular emulator..... More on that to come.

I'd like to apologize for the fact that "soon" has become such a long time. That time has passed very quickly for us, as we've been buried under this heap of code for awhile. For you, it must've seemed like an eternity. My only hope is that now you can perhaps see why this amazing feat has taken so long. Now, within the next few days, you'll be able to appreciate the results of all of the time and effort we've put into this, and why we believe it is the best work any of us have ever done.

Stay tuned for some more exciting news, and an extensive video showing some of our favorite features in action, which should be ready in the coming hours.
We will be contacting our initial beta testers individually, starting within the next 24-48 hours, increasing the number of beta testers as results come in, and going to a public beta, and then release, over next week. Please bear with us, as a beta test and release of something this massive is a stressful and time-consuming process.

--Artifex, and the rest of the OzXodus team

P.S. Just a friendly reminder that users with clone chips should use XOS2 only at their own risk. We will not support any "problems" with xos2 running on non-authentic Xeniums.

Here are some videos as promised.

As a point of clarity, the Beta WAS released when we said it would be, but due to the leaks, and obvious security issues from our last Beta fiasco we are only working with a few of our most trusted friends for this one. As we have said many times before, a release this big and groundbreaking will be protected and closely guarded to ensure we do it right. We fully understand the frustrations that many of you have and we do listen. All we ask is for a bit of faith and understanding. Delays have been unavoidable, and as you well know by now, we will not compromise quality and security for speed. Bear with us. Enjoy the vids.

OzXodus recommends that users wishing to try our XOS2 beta are aware that due to the nature of ACT, it is not currently possible to revert to an earlier revision of the OS after applying the 2.0 Public Beta.
This should not be a problem, as all of the basic functionality from previous revisions are present and working properly in Xenium-OS 2.0, but you should be aware that if you run into any major issues, you will not be able to recover to a previous version.
We are working overtime now to bring you new and more stable builds of 2.0 as quickly as possible.

- NO DIP SWITCHES
- Multiple install method, Quick-solder, pin header (supplied), wire. Solder less adaptor kit.
- Dual SPI port for unlimited future add-ons
- Compatible with all known consoles to date (v1.0 - v1.6) * 1.6 requires some soldering, the chip and the Xenium OS are fully 1.6 compatible.
- Full color Status/Bank LED (no more Live banning!)
- Hardware protected Emergency Recovery System (ERS). (No reason to ever remove chip for a bad firmware update)
- Inbuilt Flash system. No more need for direct connection to computer (No more troublesome LPT or USB programmers)
- D0 Control. SAVE YOUR CONSOLE. With D0 control we ensure the minimal stress is applied to the D0 line by only pulsing D0 at reset time, all other times the D0 is left free.
- Small compact design with no complicated forced extras for the unit to function.
- External, dimmable, multifunction, full color, ultra bright LED
- USB adaptor
- Anti Clone Technology

The Solderless Kit package comes in 2 parts, an anti-static bag packed with the Xenium ICE Chip, Pin-Header, D0 connecting wire, USB Adapter and the Multifunction LED module and connecting cable. A second blister pack, contains the Solderless Adapter, Screw, and rivets for a more precise LPC fit and alignment. Note: The rivets are no longer necessary for a precise and stable connection. The rivets are included for installers who simply prefer them.

The ICE chip itself is physically identical to the blue/green Xenium from OzXodus, but has been colored to be more aesthetically pleasing. However these new ICE chips appear to be a cleaner cut as the edges are far cleaner. Virtually no rough edges on these chips. The onboard status LED is software controlled by the OS, and can produce 8 colors, a nice feature as it can be set to reflect the Chips ON or OFF status or whether a certain Bios is loaded. (more on that later)

The new toys for modders are the included multifunction LED module and the USB Adapter. They’ve been included virtually free in the price of every Ice Chip, regardless of the package purchased by the user. (solderless or standard)

user posted image

The LED Module is simple enough to install, simply connect the wire to the appropriate connector on the chip, and the other end to the LED module (connector farthest from the switch on the module). With 30cm of length it is long enough to be place most anywhere needed. The ideal position is under the front edge of the case as this provides an excellent spot to view the status of the chip and xbox. The LED module comes with double sided adhesive tape to quick mount the unit anywhere you wish. The modules are easy daisy chained (to a safe max of 10 units, only tested 2 personally) to increase the aesthetic pleasure of the user. Units don’t produce little or no heat (non I could feel anyways) so no heat concerns there. The unit ships with an ultra bright LED which might be too much for some people to bear especially when mounted in some of the front positions, so OzX added a dimmer switch which in my opinion cuts the brightness in half. (nice to have the option though)

user posted image

The USB Adapter module is the other new addition to the Xenium Product line. While not a chip and not even a chip add-on, it does have a related use. With this small, compact and sturdy adapter you can connect any USB device to any of the Xbox controller ports. Feel free to hook up mice and keyboards using this adapter. However that is not where the beauty and simplicity of this unit shine. The ICE chip (and for that matter previous Xeniums) with OSv2 can be flashed via USB Pen Drives. Any Pen Drive formatted with Fat on a PC, and loaded with 1 or more bios files, can now be connected directly to an xbox and the flashing process can be done without any burning of disks or hooking up messy network connections. Additionally, using the Pen Drive method you can create and assembly line affect by building a profile and backing it to the pen drive and then having each successive xbox flash itself from that profile on the Pen drive. Bios files, color schemes etc are all stored. Pen Drive Flashing is ideal for the Installer doing units daily. I was particularly impressed with how stiff and sturdy the unit was and how well it fit the xbox controller port. It easily supported the weight of a number of Pen Drives and other things I plugged into it without stress to the unit or the xbox controller port.

In fact one could argue it fits too well as it takes some effort to pull it out. Also a minor irritant, but nothing that will stop me from using it is the pins that connect the USB connector to the PCB it sits on. They are sharp and long in my opinion, and I probably come off as being picky for saying so, but personally I’d like to see this enclosed in future versions of this great adapter.

The Solderless Adapter and pin-header are the same units from previous Xenium Chips Solderless Kits, and continue to work well. Previously reviewed by Xantium. (Xenium Solderless Adapter Review - May 10 2004 - http://www.xbox-scen...lkuXELoFpHj.php )

The Adapter can be used with or without the rivets, on all boards from 1.0 to 1.6. (however for 1.6 to work with the Solderless Adapter.. the installer must connect some LPC holes with some points, and must connect LFRAME to D0 as directed by these diagrams. OzXodus.com Pics for 1.6 Install:

These ICE chips were tested on 3 Xbox units, 1.0, 1.1, and a 1.3 board. (sorry no 1.6 yet up here for me to play with) Pin-header install on one, Solderless on a LPC filled board, and the same Solderless was tested on a 1.3 with standard LPC (unfilled) The adapter worked as advertised on both filled and unfilled LPC (no rivets used). Solid contact first time, as in the past a kick test was done and the Adapters did not misalign. (However, I now have a cracked plastic shell I’ll be selling or trashing. Note to self: do NOT use safety shoes for future kick tests) The Pin-header install, which also required the connection of D0, worked flawlessly as well. Holes on the boards with open LPC where pre-cleaned to ensure optimal contact. (not necessary.. but it’s something that has become a good habit for me)

Pros:
- Xenium Ice works every bit as well as previous chips from OzXodus. Many connecting options including quick Solder, pin-header, and solderless options.
- LED multifunction module is simple to install, were easy to adjust, plenty of length on the included wire, daisy-chainable for interesting effects, produces little or no heat and can be programmed to reflect chip or xbox status. (Included FREE in both the standard and solderless packages)
- USB Adapter, equally simply to use and install with a number of uses. (Included free just like the LED module)
- Safe chip to use and operate, with a good recovery system in place. Even better when using the current OS revisions.
- Aethetically pleasing (to me at least)
- Just enough flashable bank space for the average everyday user. More than enough in my opinion

Cons:
- Not much to pick on here, except the USB adapter can be incredibly tough to remove once plugged into the controller port. Also, the points that are exposed on the bottom are sharp. I find no fault with the chip, or the other included accessories. All hardware worked as expected.

Expect the Xenium Ice V2.0 Pre-Release OS review within 24hrs. just putting the finishing touches on it.

The Xenium OS has changed a lot from the 1.0 incarnation that first appeared months ago on the original batch of Xenium Chips. That one was Cromwell(info) based, and showed signs of it’s lineage. (some good, some bad) It was a functional OS, and showed us at the time what the future of modchips had in store for us. It was first to the market, and suffered alittle because of that.

user posted image

OzXodus learned a lot since that initial release. OSv2 Pre-Release shows they’ve learned many of the lessons taught to them by their customers. First thing to go was Cromwell. Cromwell is no longer the basis for the OS, as the OS has been re-written from the bottom up and it shows. Even at this current stage, the Pre-Release already outperforms it’s Cromwell ancestors.

For the purpose of this review (and the linked Hardware review) 3 xbox units were used and 2 new Xenium ICE chips. At various times during the testing process.. I’ve had the following plugged in to see if the xbox would hang at the OS level, or if it would choke moving from OS to Hack Bios to Dashboard.

Hardware tested included:
- 7 Different Controllers (MS – Classic/”s”, Logitech, HipGear, MadMax, and no-names)
- 2 remotes (Stock and third party)
- 3 USB Keyboards (one Wireless Logitech, one Ms Office KB, one third party mini keyboard)
- 4 USB Mice (one wireless Logitech, 2 MS, 1 third party)
- 3 light guns (MadMax, and 2 asian models)
- 2 different retail xbox to USB cable adapters (www.lik-sang.com and www.spotted-horse.com plus one homebrew one.)
- 3 memory cards including MS Stock, and two 3rd party no-name ones)
- 1 Xbox Communicator (stock) (slightly used and abused.. long story – “420”)

At no point was there an undue pause or lock-up due to hardware being connected during the power-on cycle, or while migrating from OS to Hacked Bios to Dashbaord. OSv2-PR didn’t miss a step. Being a Pre-Release there are still features to be added, and a few missing. They should make for some pleasant surprises once it’s ready.

The interface:

user posted image

Right away we see this isn’t the same old interface. Bright colors, fancy backgrounds and a clean and clear font / text display greets use after a second from power-on. Navigation is simple enough, move up and down, and left and right as needed. Hit the A + B Buttons to commit to an action or to back out of menus.

This main menu is the nerve center of the OS and all of it’s functions. Becoming familiar with it came easily enough as it’s quite intuitive. I’ll gloss over the options:
- Launch Menu: Flash Banks, Add and delete bios from the banks.
- Disk Tools: Lock/Unlock HD, Upgrade HD, Copy Drives, and Format them.
- EEprom Tools: Notes Motherboard Version, Switch Video Standards and DVD and Game Regions, and Backup and Restore the Eeprom
- Settings – Submenues for the Xenium, Network, FTP, Telnet, and SMB options.
- Recovery – To be used to fix or replace the OS.
- Reboot and Power Off – self explanatory.

The “Launch Menu”, once you enter it looks empty except for the “Add A New Item” function. The New OS kind of treats the space virtually, and one of the things it does transparently is allow you to flash and organize your bios banks. When ADDing to the Launch Menu you’ll have the option of flashing a bank with the TSOP’s onboard Kernel from the Xbox, flashing from any of the Partitions on the Xbox, flashing from a Pen Drive (h:) and from an SMB share. There a third “option” to add a launch item from the Hard Disk but that is currently disabled in this Pre-Release. (003, 051)

One of the exciting new features of this OS is the ability to flash from USB Pen Drives. Frankly, no one I know has floppy disks anymore but everyone I know has a Pen Drive, whether it’s an 8MB one of a 1/2GB one. I used the supplied Xenium USB Adapter to plug in a 32MB Pen Drive that was FAT formatted, and had a number of files on it including my favourite colormod bioses into any one of the Xbox controller ports. I then fired up the Launch Menu, navigated to the ( H: ) drive and selected my Bios of choice. Flashed in a second, renamed it and booted the xbox to see my colormod bios boot and then boot the dash.(050, 051, 052, 053, 054, 055, 056, 057, 058, 059)

Backing up the TSOP to the Chip makes good sense in case something happens to the onboard TSOP. It doubles the chance that you’ll stay up and running. Many times.. a modchip has been the last chance for life for someone with a flaky tsop.

“Disk Tool Menu” is where you’ll get to play with some of the great functions of this chip and OS combo. If the HD in the unit is still the stock one.. you can unlock it (for migration into another Xbox perhaps.. or a PC). If you have already placed a larger replacement upgrade drive in it you can dynamically lock and unlock it at will.

Altertenatively, you can use the Drive Upgrade Wizard to copy one HD to Another. Copy single partitions from one drive to another with the “Copy Partition” option, and/or “Format Partition” on either a Master or Slave Drive. Keep in mind to do most of this you’ll need to have disconnected the IDE cable from the DVD rom and the power source from the Master HD will need to be connected to the Slave via a “Y” SplitterHD.

OSv2-PR makes it simple and painless. It also goes out of its way to prevent you from accidentally nuking drives and partitions giving you clear messages and plenty of chances to say no to potentially risky actions. I had some fun trying to get it to blow away my partitions and drives. No one will have a problem unless they IGNORE the messages.. and continue the process with each step.

OSv2-PR is Dummy Proof? Well.. it’s smart enough to know not to upgrade a non existent drive (004, 005, 006, 007) The OS is also smart enough to not allow overwriting of the same drive.(008, 009, 010, 011, 012) OS unsuccessful attempt to format the non-existant Slave Drive partition, and it’s successful attempts to format the Master’s Partitions (013, 014, 015, 016, 017, 018, 019)

Everytime an attempt was made by me to do something it shouldn’t be able to do, the Chip/OS combo did one of the 2 desireable actions… warned me like crazy.. or prevented or acknowledged it couldn’t be successfully done.

“EEprom Tools” is the area in which few will enter out of fear of messing up their chip. Most people may never need to enter this area of the interface. However, everyone should enter it once. You’ll be able to make critical changes to the EEProm here.. including chaging the Video Standard from NTSC to PAL. Important for people who love to play imports. Also of interest to them is the ability to switch DVD Rom Regions and Game Regions.(020, 021, 022, 023)

By far the most important part of the EEprom area is the Backup and Restore options. Backing up your EEprom just makes good sense, and is easy to do. You can also take the backed up EEprom and use the Xenium ICE Chip to transfer the EEprom to another Xbox. Imagine, you can backup an EEprom on a 1.1 and migrate to any version of Xbox including a 1.6 (if I had one. I would have tried that, instead I went from a 1.1 to a 1.3 and back with no issues) Alternatively it’s good to know that if something ever happens to the Xbox, you have a backup of the EEprom.

“Settings Menu” (026) All of your various sub-menus live here. Chances are good that if you are new to modding, and the OSv2-PR is going to be your first jump into the scene you’ll be playing in this section to get your modded box up and running in a jiffy.

“Xenium Settings” Menu. (027)
Not a lot to see here currently expec the option to turn on and off Instant boot. Once you are flashed and running the way you need to.. chances are good that you’ll not want to see the Xenium OS interface every boot so you’ll do as I have and turn on Instant Boot.(028, 029)

“Network Settings” Menu (030) Change various characteristics of the Xbox including IP, Gateway and DNS. (031, 032)

“FTP Settings” Menu (033) Turn on and off the OSv2-PR’s FTP Client dynamically, and change Username and Password to add extra protection to the box in case you have your xbox on the lan and in the wild. Setting these right will allow you to simply copy the Bios files from the PC to the XBOX hd of your choice.(034)

“Telnet Settings” Menu (035) Turn on and off the Telnet Server Dynamically.in this menu and change User Name and Password when you feel the need for security.

“SMB Settings” Menu (040) With this menu you can set the OSv2 Client Share Path, Username and Password. You can also set the Server Workgroup name and the server name of the unit. As is the case with the other networking settings.. the server can be turned on and off dynamically.

Being an SMB neophyte, this review and this section had me working for awhile. Once I did a littler reading.. and understood the sheer simplicity of SMB shares, I realized the potential. Drag and Drop across the network is great, but executing and flashing across the netwowk was another altogether. (I never should have put off learning about SMB shares, it’ll change the way I personally use my favourite dashboards and XBMC.)

I changed a few settings in the SMB section, set up a folder on the PC with share privileges, went to the Launch Menu and flashed a red colormod bios from the PC to the Xbox and then booted the xbox to the dashboard. (041, 042, 043)

Review Video Summary: Xenium OSv2 PR – Around the world in 12 minutes -Review Video WMV

Pros:
- Fresh updated new look and interface, and even that will change shortly.
- Makes the Xenium Flashable via new methods like SMB and USB Pen Drives, on-top of the old standards like flashing from drives.
- EEprom Backup and Restore work without a hitch
- Plethora of EEprom tools for the import or overseas game junkies including Region changers and video mode switchers
- HD Wizards for upgrading, copying, and formatting simplify adding, upgrading, or duplicating Hd’s
- SMB Shares. Chuck your old FTP program. Once you try this you won’t need it anymore.
- Burning Bios disks with archaic programs, odd fats and dummy buffer files is now officially retired. (but still possible) Save your blank media for backups.
- OS is more or less dummy proof. (at least until a better?!? Dummy comes along)
- Cromwell is Dead (in this OS anyways)

Cons:
- Red Backdrop in the interface. This will piss off the designer of it but’s it’s ugly as sin. (where is MomDad when you need him to produce a slick background)
- Now that I think of it, so is that Xenium Logo/banner at the top. (why’d they change it?
- The HD feature from the Launch/Add Item menu was disabled in this release. I would have love to seen it in action.
- Waiting for other features rumored to be in the final release but were disabled or removed form this Review Sample.
- Something not mentioned above in the review, keyboards currently do not function in the OS. They don’t lock up or prevent the OS from functioning, but at the same time it would be nice to connect and use my keyboards during all those settings screens in the Settings menus. For that matter, it would be nice to have mouse support in there as well.

Overall, OSv2-PR works well, runs fast, and is feature rich. It puts to bed many old and archaic methods of flashing chips and managing resources, and introduces some new tricks. Gone are the days of dummy files on media. OSv2-PR is a leap forward for Xenium owners, new and old.

It is with regret and great sadness that we announce our decision to dissolve the partnership formed between OzXChip and TeamXodus. In any business arrangement and partnership, alliances are made and formed for the betterment of the two parties with the express purpose of producing better quality products and service to customers. The birth of the first 4th generation chip, the Xenium, was a major achievement of which we are extremely proud.

In recent times we have found that too much time has been spent negotiating plans, arguing over proposed developments and reconciling differences in opinion, as such we feel that the project has suffered and that we have reached an impass. We believe that the alliance has outlived its usefulness and rather than benefiting our customers it is now severely hampering our ability to move quickly and efficiently toward betterment of the product.

We realise that there will be much speculation as to the fate of the Xenium. We would like to assure you that the Xenium is alive and well and that the whole purpose of this decision is to move forward to fulfil the promises made for the product.

Both groups would like to thank the community for the support and encouragement that has been offered to OzXodus.

A Special Message from Team Xodus

Contrary to speculation and hopeful thinking by critics and competitors, we would like to let you know that Team Xodus, is 100% committed and dedicated to the betterment and development of our premier product, the Xenium. We would like to assure all those sceptics out there that we have absolutely no intention of slowing down or relaxing in any way whatsoever. On the contrary, we are now more focused and determined and would like to invite all of you to visit us at our new domain TeamXodus where you will be able to find out more. See you there!

In conclusion we would like to thank OzXChip and wish them the all the best in their future. You can visit them at www.OzXChip.com

Welcome to our new site. We would like to tell all our critics and faithful supporters alike that we are back, stronger and more united than ever before!
Of course, we realise that we have taken quite a beating over the past few weeks due to our silence and our inability to explain exactly what was going on during our negotiations but it is not in our nature to compromise our integrity and respect for partners no matter the consequences. We appreciate that there have been some serious consequences and we would like to take this opportunity to apologise to loyal customers and supporters alike (especially the Australian market) for delays in supply and lack of timeous response to your requests and questions. We hope that this brief explanation at least goes some way toward enlightening you on the reasons for our recent silence.
Enough of that.
What is more important now is where we are going and what plans we have for the Xenium and other projects already in the pipeline. Now that we have found our voice again you can be sure that information and updates will be flowing more frequently, especially concerning new developments like XOS 2.0, ACT2 which is better and deadlier than before, as well as some exciting new product developments we have in store for you. Naturally, it is now quite clear as to why the much awaited XOS 2.O release has been delayed and why we could not fully explain to disgruntled fans. The good news though, is that the final release of XOS 2.0 will be out straight after current tests are complete with fixes and improvements on our initial beta version, such as the implementation of Quick Boot, date/time bug fix and (hopefully if we can get it stable enough), a small surprise! Due to popular opinion, the backdrop has also been changed to a more sedate scheme.
Our support channel on Efnet, #TeamXodus is up and running. Please join us there.
As far as our competition is concerned, we are sure that their short lived sighs of relief have now turned to gasps of horror and panic as it will soon become painfully obvious that Xenium and TeamXodus are not only here to stay but that we are more determined, positive and confident. If certain products of theirs ever get off their wish lists and finally join us in the real world, they will have a whole lot to live up to, we promise that!!

We have just released a Beta for Xenium OS(info) 2.
Apologies for our silence and delays are naturally in order but we hope that recent announcements and developments can at least offer some justification and explanation. Your involvement and contributions with bug reports has been overwhelming and much appreciated. We have worked through all of them as thoroughly and diligently as possible and now feel we are confident for this public release. With your help, we believe that we have now drastically improved the overall stability of the kernel, and are nearing a "final" 2.0 release. The only reason we are not deeming this revision "2.0 final" is that we still have a few kinks to work out with some of our newer features. As we wanted this release to be as rock-solid as possible, those features are currently still disabled. Once we get the last few bugs worked out of these components, we will release "RC1," and if no major issues are reported, will deem the image "Final".

A quick word about where we'll be going from here:
When 2.0 "Final" is released, it will actually be released as XeniumOS 2.0.0 as we will be moving to a new method of versioning. From there, when we release minor updates, bugfixes, and small feature changes, we will increase the subminor version number. So, the first release after 2.0.0 will be 2.0.1, and will be primarily minor changes. When we release a new version with several new, major features, we will increase the minor version number, going to 2.1.0. When drastic changes have occurred to the OS, we will increase the major version number, bringing us to 3.0.0.
We believe that this new system will help to drive more frequent revisions, and create a clear distinction between minor and major version changes. We hope that you will realize how serious we now are in acheiving targeted goals and in responding to consumer reports quickly.

Changelog for Beta 2:
+ Preliminary Quickboot support (press button AFTER power-on)
+ Added remote gamepad emulation via telnet

The build is stable, a large number of the bug reports you have so vigilantly submitted have been fixed, and new features have now been fully implemented. With the complete integration of Webserver, FTP, SMB and USB interfaces, we have proven that we mean what we say and that we will continue to lead and to set the standard in this industry. Our objective, right from the onset, was to make the best, most functional, most efficient, most reliable, and most user friendly chip on the market, and we have done that! It is no surprise that we have been dubbed "The creators of the easiest Xbox modification.."

We are extremely happy that our decisions to take the risk of starting over from scratch and to make the bold move of developing our own fully legal OS have paid off. It has been a lot of work, but now that we have a firm and stable foundation in place to build upon, the OS will really begin to expand and grow. We are confident that our developments have created the pathway for a wealth of limitless possibilities. We are already working on some great new features for you!

On a side note, we recently did a count of the lines of code in our CVS repository for Xenium OS(info), and were surprised to find that the current count is over 1.35 million lines of code! As much as we would love to say we wrote all of that from scratch, much of it is library code. Regardless, this should show you how much technology and complexity we have put into this product.

We are sure you will like this release, and we always encourage suggestions and feedback.

Enjoy!
Team Xodus

This update is being released to address several minor/moderate bugs, and 2 potentially serius bugs.

It is reccomended that all users upgrade to this version of Xenium OS(info).

A few notes:
This update comes with 2 recovery.bin files. The standard recovery.bin will no longer erase bioses, settings, or eeprom backup. recovery-ResetToFactoryDefaults.bin behaves like previous updates, and will restore the chip to a factory default state.

The 2.0.0 release of XeniumOS would allow the user to use the "Recover from BIN" option in the EEprom tools with a .bin file which was not an EEprom backup, resulting in a corrupted system EEprom. Also, when the system EEprom was corrupted by this action, or any other means, XeniumOS would fail to boot properly. We would like to point out, once again, that improper and uninformed use of the EEprom tools can have destructive results, and users should proceed with caution.

In the case of a corrupted EEprom, XeniumOS will now enter a special boot mode, and will prompt you to press a button when you can read some text on a blue background. This is done so that the video can be properly initialized independant of eeprom settings.

If you have a corrupted EEprom currently, and XeniumOS will not boot, upgrading to this version of XeniumOS should allow you to recover. If this is the case, it is reccomended that you update using the CD upgrade method, and disconnect your harddrive if you had previously used the harddrive upgrade method.

Changelog:
+Added some diagnostics reporting to filesystem drivers, in preperation for performance profiling
+Added monitoring of PIO/UDMA switching, in preperation for performance profiling
+Added "EEpromless video region" screen

*Other minor changes in filesystem drivers, shouldn't make any difference
*Substantial changes to usb subsystem, should be a bit more stable now
*Better integration of usb flash drive and filesystem drivers
*Fixed issue with third party controller compatability
*Finishing/Improving usb keyboard and mouse drivers in preperation for integrating with UI
*Minor internal change to hashing library
*Replaced one of the Xbox hw version detection routines. May still report some boxes as 1.0, when they are not, and vice versa, but this is not confirmed yet
*Some IP stack changes, nothing that should have major impact
*Several improvements to ARP handling
*Several internal kernel additions

-Fixed a very minor bug with drive mounting
-Small change in ftp protocol handling and ftp->filesystem path translation
-Fixed bug that caused "Restore from BIN" to not appear if the system EEprom was invalid
-Fixed some SMB file ID handling bugs (should now properly close files opened over smb)
-Fixed a minor problem with interrupt servicing in usb subsystem
-Fixed a minor dhcp error handling bug
-Fixed a minor problem with handling ICMP pings
-Fixed a double free bug in ip stack
-Fixed a critical bug with EEprom restore-from-bin which could render a box unbootable if used improperly
-Fixed a critical bug which caused Kernel Panic on boot when EEprom was invalid, when attempting to set video mode

WARNING: FRAUDSTERS ARE BACK
We thought we had rid ourselves of bad rubbish but it seems that the thieving animals that tried to rip you all off a few months ago are back. We have received several reports that the Fakesters are trying their luck again and we are issuing as stern a warning as we possibly can. THEY WILL FAIL AGAIN. DO NOT BUY THEM!!

ACT (Anti Clone Technology) worked 100% effectively against fake Xeniums before and ACT2 will be as effective this time.

We are also told that these fakes are NOT being shipped with the standard Ice Accessories that are supplied with genuine Xenium Ice chips. Should you receive a Xenium Ice chip without a wire loom, external led or USB adaptor, you have been defrauded and you need to make a Credit Card charge back. Fake chips will be rendered useless by our OS, leaving you with no recourse and no compensation at all.
We will be highlighting the many mistakes made by these fools in due course. For now it is really simple to tell which is the real deal and which is not. Please take a look at the pictures below.

Phase one of Xtender/Xenium competition is now officially over and we are overwhelmed at the tremendous amount of entries that have come in. We would like to thank you for your participation and are really flattered by your enthusiasm and response, which makes our decision to involve all of you, a definite winner! Short-listing and judging has already begun with results expected in the next few days.

Once a final name is picked we will announce phase two of our competition series, "Design the logo".
Thank you once again and also a very big thanks to Xbox-Scene for hosting such a successful competition. Good luck!

After developing an innovative but legally questionable Xbox mod chip called Matrix and a follow-up called the Chameleon, the hardware-savvy group of hackers known as Team Xodus went to work on a new chip called Xenium.. includes its own apparently legal software full of cool features.

Until now, it was fair to assume that a mod chip's maker or purchaser had questonable intentions. With Xenium's useful and feature-rich OS software, Team Xodus is taking the first steps toward changing that perception. We're betting it won't be the last to try.

1.6b COMPATIBILITY, NO PROBLEM FOR XENIUM OS
We have recently picked up some malicious rumors regarding Xenium compatibility with Xbox version 1.6b and we thought we would update all of you with a clear and concise statement.

Xenium OS has absolutely no problem with 1.6b.
There is no need to re-program or recall our chips at all. We have done extensive testing of both Xenium OS and the recovery system and have found no issues specific to 1.6b. Unlike other more outdated systems, Xenium OS has once again proven to be that much more advanced and that much more versatile, which makes us wonder how claims by others for top spot in this industry (no, in fact, on this whole planet) can be so arrogantly made without the backing and results to prove these claims.

Over the past year, our product has stood tall and proud as the genuine market leader and has proven itself time and again. Reliability, flexibility and stability are as important, (if not more so), than features and features that are yet to be proven. Remember that fourth generation chips are advanced, feature full SOFTWARE DRIVEN devices. If the software is not capable or flexible enough to adapt and change with the environment in which we currently find ourselves then even a claim to second place would be difficult to justify.

Our policy is simple. “If it aint broke don’t fix it” One year of tried and tested products that work seamlessly, without hiccups no matter what is thrown at them, should count for quite a bit in our book. Xenium has more than proved itself and there is very good reason why our chip and our Xenium OS are receiving the praise and accolades they are, and why we are changing perceptions and expectations in the industry, as seen in yet another flattering article in Xbox Nation Magazine. Whether that justifies a top rating is really up to you to decide.

We have sifted through the thousands of entries and have chosen the finalists and winners. It has really been a terrific contest and we would like to thank all of you once again for taking part. We are sure that this overwhelming enthusiasm is an indication of the excitement and anticipation for this unique co-operation agreement between Team Xodus and Team Xtender.

Both Teams had just as much fun reading your submissions, as you did coming up with them.
Before announcing the finalists we would like to explain a few rules that were used.
We looked for something that was unique, that would best describe the new product.
Finalists were chosen by a panel from Team Xodus, Team Xtender and Xbox-Scene.
From the names and phrases chosen as finalists, whenever a selection was chosen as a finalist, but was submitted by more than one candidate, the earliest posted submission was the one considered.

We will need to verify the name and identity of the chosen winners so please logon to the forums and PM message HSDEMONZ the following info:

- Your full name, address, country etc.
- Your email, IM and/or ICQ info
- Your Xbox-Scene forums account.

We will contact you via your XS forums account to verify your identity.

We have chosen five finalists and two winners. One winner for the name and a separate winner for the phrase. (this was not easy to do.. but we managed to get the list of fantastic entries down to a select few we could all agree on.)

Each finalist will receive an Xtender Kit and a Xenium ICE.

The two winners will receive an Xtender Kit, a Xenium ICE and a cash prize of USD $500 each. (Originally, we were only going to award one grand prize of the 500$ US but we decided that the enthusiasm shown by the scene, and it's members for Xodus and Xtender, and the amount of submissions, warranted 2 grand prizes for this contest.

So here are the five finalists:

Finalist/Product Name
Thaylock "X-pack"
Pseudo99 "Xfusion"
blinx "Xmach3"
Finalist/Marketing Phrase
Audiodox rewrite the rules
RUNTIME unlock the potential

The winners are:
Product Name:
"Xfusion" by Pseudo99
Product Phrase:
"Rewrite the rules" by Audiodox.

We had a lot of fun with this contest. Keep a lookout for the Xfusion Logo contest which will be announced in a few days!
Congratulations!

Recent mails from some consumers and retailers asking questions regarding our Xenium OS have prompted us to put together a series of quick, informative facts for all of you regarding key features in Xenium OS. We have decided to hold a twelve days of Xmas series which will feature updates, competitions and key facts for all of our loyal Xenium OS owners and those that are still to become part of our elite group. The purpose is to enlighten both dedicated users and “newbies” on why our product is in a class of its own and is the best product on the market today.

Just yesterday a retailer wrote to us and was amazed that Xenium can do Web Flashing! Our answer was simple, proud and confident. “Of course it can. Xenium does it all and a whole lot more!”

HARD FACT NUMBER 1.

XENIUM DRIVES YOU HOME THIS CHRISTMAS

First of all, a clear and distinct difference between Xenium and other lesser chips is that Xenium has a proprietary dedicated OS and is therefore not subject to illegal and extremely cumbersome and time consuming downloads, flashes and cd burning, which are required to make the chip work in the first place. With a dedicated OS, Xenium installs in seconds and works immediately, unlike others that scam the public into believing they are buying a fully functional and working unit straight out the box. For the many newbies out there this is a very important fact that needs to be highlighted. Let us paint it a little more clearly for you. Would you buy a BMW X3 with no engine? You can put all the fancy accessories you want in and around the vehicle to try and sell it but no engine is no engine. Got it? Not yet? Ok a little more clearly.

OTHERS:(Just to get started)
Install, search through underground scene for an OS after learning the ins and outs of IRC, get into illegal sites and choose a hidden OS (one that is not a virus), download to PC, burn a cd (if you have no CDRW go out and get one), transfer to Xbox and pray like hell it accepts the file, flash the OS without destroying the chip. MAYBE NOW YOUR CHIP MIGHT WORK

XENIUM:
Install, it works. Done.

We are proud that we deliver what we promise, “the complete package”. All our features are onboard and fully functional immediately. No mess. No fuss.

Stay tuned for more in our series.

- Bug fix

Go to our Download section (Stable Releases) for this update.

KEY FACT NUMBER 2

Our primary commitment is to reliability and stability, (hence the bug fix updates above). As we have stated time and again, proven and tested results and a year long track history cannot be understated or ignored. The stability and reliability of a 4th generation chip can be measured ONLY by the stability and reliability of its firmware. Teams that do not feel a need to update, while ignoring the many bugs and problems that popped up in their OS, cannot possibly claim to be stable. Naturally, with the positive history and reputation our team has achieved, there is a definite pride and a certain confidence that comes with such results.

We have invested a great deal of time, money and effort in our OS for good reason. For both proud Xenium owners and those new to the scene, it is becoming abundantly clear that reliability, stability and flexibility are key factors that consumers are looking for. A recent spate of revision after revision of one inadequate version after another, coupled with recalls and frantic re-flashes are not what consumers want, or should be subject to with any premium chip.

GO PREMIUM. GO XENIUM!

ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS…

TEAM XODUS GAVE TO ME...

2 COOL NEW FEATURES...

And lots of bug fixes in the source tree

Now that we have the bug fixes out of the way, we can concentrate on offering you real fun and tangible stuff that you will enjoy. We are proud to present Xenium XOS 2.1.0.

Although we are starting small and building up to bigger and bigger things we really want you to try these features and tell us what you think. Unlike others who are doing away with features and giving you half the value at half the price we are continually adding to our product to give you double and triple the value at the same great price. Xenium is Premium, simple as that.

Password Lockout:

This is by far our most requested feature since shortly after we first released the concept of an operating system controlled chip onto the world. When both the Password and InstantBoot options are enabled, XeniumOS will not allow you (or little siblings, troublesome cousins, or anyone else) to enter the XeniumOS configuration menus without first entering a system password. There are 2 passwords to start, "XWAY", and the classic Konami code, "UUDDLRLRBAS." This will keep uninformed users away from sensitive configuration menus and utilities.

QuickRegion ™

The second feature was only requested by one person, but we thought it was an excellent suggestion, and very much in keeping with the philosophies of our legal OS. QuickRegion™, when enabled, allows you to select a game region at the touch of a button. ("A" for US/Canada, "X" for Japan, "Y" for Europe/Australia, "B" to keep current setting) An excellent feature if you have a respectable import collection, and are using the chip to allow you to play your legitimately aquired titles from lands afar. With QuickRegion™ you can make your Xbox play any region game in a flash. This cool feature now brings instantaneous power to your fingertips!

AND …

WAIT…..

THERE’S MORE!!

ANNOUNCING THE “SECRET PASSWORD” COMPETITION

For the initial five “easy” words found we will reward each first correct entry with a $100 cash prize.

The last two “difficult” words will attract a prize of $300 for each winner.

For the more difficult words we will be giving hints along the way smile.gif

And a lot of bug fixes in the source tree.

ANNOUNCING THE THREE FRENCH PEN PR COMPETITION

Since the beginning of our much loved Xenium project it has been made quite clear that many fans and critics alike feel that our PR SUCKS!! If I had the time, I would go through posts and logs and mails and threads and messages and dig up ALL the various names and insults given (with love I am sure) to our PR. So we thought that we would give all the armchair critics out there who have said time and again “I could do better”, the chance to prove it.

The task is simple. Do a write-up of at least 500 words titled.

Be arrogant
Take no prisoners.

ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS

TEAM XODUS GAVE TO ME…

4 MORE FEATURES….

Three French pens…

Two cool features….

And a lot of bug fixes in the source tree.

Today we have decided to go all out and offer you four more great features for you to try. Our key feature is, of course, skinning, a much anticipated and requested feature that will allow you to personalize your Xenium OS in your own unique style.
Installers, you will absolutely love this new feature. Just think of the possibilities as it now allows you to throw in your own exclusive logos, adverts and information each time the Xenium boots up. Talk about IN YOUR FACE ADVERTISING!!

Without further ado here are the features and notes for you from our very tired but very proud head coder. Thanks Artifex.smile.gif

1. Skinning!

That's right, XeniumOS now supports a dynamic skinning system. What we have in place so far is just the beginning of what's planned to increase the flexibility of the user interface, and there has even been some talk of a complete re-implementation of the UI, so expect even more great advances soon.

The skinning system works as follows: The directory E:\XeniumOS\Skins\ is scanned for subdirectories, the names of which will appear under the "Choose Skin..." menu item in the Xenium Settings. Each of these subdirectories contains 2 files, backdrop.jpg (PNG support will be included in the next release) which is the background image to be used, and Skin.cfg which is a simple text file which defines the color and positioning of user interface elements. The Skin.cfg file contains 1 line for each of the following items, in the order specified.

Dialog text color
Dialog background color
Dialog frame color
Dialog highlight color
Menu text color
Menu highlight color
Menu background color
Top Menu X position
Top Menu Y position
Top Menu Width
Top Menu Height
Number of items to display in Top Menus

All colors are specified in hexadecimal RGB format, much like in html. The classic XOS 2.x skin will be available from our downloads page as an example to work from. We will be expanding this configuration file to include per-skin fonts, alpha transparency settings, and much more in the future.
A few talented developers have already been given the specifications for this skinning system, and at least one project is already underway, so expect to see some great supporting applications soon!

2. Save EEPROM to .BIN file

There is a new option under the EEprom Tools menu to allow you to backup your EEprom to the harddrive, allowing for easy redundant EEprom backups, to avoid any potential problems with EEprom corruption.

3. Cache space clearing

This has been a highly requested feature over the past months, so we felt obligated to satisfy our customers and provide it in this update. This item, which can be found under Disk Tools, will clear out your X, Y, and Z partitions, as well as the E:\Cache\ directory, solving many headaches with compatibility.

4. Auto-naming improvements

Some minor tweaks and improvements have been made to the Auto-naming system, allowing you to more easily organize and manage your Xenium's Launch Items. We still have a few additional changes which we will make to this subsystem of the OS, in order for you to keep track of your Launch Items in the most efficient way possible. We have a hunch that this will become an important issue soon.......

UPDATE ON YESTERDAY’S FRENCH PEN PR COMPETITION:

It has been pointed out to us that in our haste to give away my job, we neglected to set a deadline to the French Pen PR Competition. Sorry about that. We have decided that this competition will end at the end of the 12 days of Christmas, to give you enough time to write your masterpieces and hopefully to get more ideas and inspiration over the next few information releases as to why Xenium is the BEST! Judging by the quality of entries already in, new submissions are going to have to be really good and creative to stand any chance of winning. So, the bar has been set.
Good luck!

WOW! The response to new features released yesterday has been terrific. Thank you to all of you for your compliments and we are glad that you like them. We had a few minor bug reports, and so today we are releasing a minor update, XeniumOS 2.2.1, with the following changes:

- Text color entries in config are now properly RGB. (In the previous release they were RBG)
* Added a 3 second delay to notice about unlocking hdd when changing eeprom settings (Requested by beta group)
+ Added support for PNG, GIF, BMP, and XPM (Coincidentally bringing the total number of supported backdrop file formats to FIVE!)

And now to our feature of the day….

FIIIIIVE BRAND NEW SKIIIIINS

We also realized that a skinning feature isn't much fun without some skins to use for it, so we put the artist of our group to work, and then picked out our 5 favorite skins for you to enjoy. You can download XeniumOS Skin Pack 1 here, just extract the rar and place the folders within into E:\XeniumOS\Skins\ on your xbox, and they will appear under the "Choose Skin..." menu in XeniumOS.

BIG 5 SKINNING COMPETITION:

We are trying to get as many people as possible with their different skills involved in our competitions. So, while the writers are writing, the designers will be designing! Design a unique and eye catching skin for XeniumOS and you could be one of our FIVE prize winners, and have your work included in the next XeniumOS skin pack! The four "runners up" will win $ 100 each and the grand prize winner will receive a Usb 12x12 pen tablet valued at approximately 500 dollars or 500 dollars cash in hand.

Entries must be 640 by 480, and can be in any supported file format. A working Skin.cfg must also be included. All skins must be tested under XeniumOS before submission, non-working skins will not be accepted! Email your submissions to [email protected] *remove the .nospam. part* by the end of the 12 days of Christmas.(thankfully we are running a bit behind so you have extra time to get this done)

Skins will be judged by Team Xodus on several factors, including (but not limited to):
-Creativity
-Aesthetic
-Original use of positioning/sizing in the .cfg
-Theme

BE PART OF THE FUN: GO XENIUM!

TEAM XODUS GAVE TO ME...

SIX GREAT A-WARDS

Fiiiiive brand new skiiiiins...

Four more features...

Three French pens...

Two cool features...

And a lot of bug fixes in the source tree.

As Christmas day draws closer, and the festive spirit of giving grips us more and more, we thought that we would get your involvement and contributions to a group of awards and thank yous we would like to make on your behalf and ours. Team Xodus has proved time and again that we really focus, on and are entirely dependant, on the word TEAM. With our premium product, the Xenium, being almost one year old we felt that this would be a perfect time to recognize and reward some of those who have been a part of the whole success story, whether it be direct help either in forums, irc or email, or indirectly via private tutorials of any size either as individual file or as a post in the forums, or any other area that has made an impact on you and enhanced your Xenium experience.

Naturally, we cannot reward everyone, and in an effort to be fair and transparent we thought we would let you, the users, nominate. We welcome your suggestions and nominations for the awards or commendations to individuals or groups that have contributed and given of their time to help. Once all nominations (and the reasons for the nominations) have been sent in, we will collate them into categories to choose the winners and runners up. Nominations must be submitted before the Ninth day of Christmas. Please post your nominations in the forums.

WHAT WE HAVE IN STORE FOR YOU IN THE COMING DAYS

Firstly, we would also like to remind you that both the French Pen PR competition and the Skinning Competition will only close on the twelfth day of Christmas so you still have plenty of time to get those entries in!

Now that we have reached the halfway mark in our series we thought we would give you a bit of a teaser of what you have to look forward to in the coming days. Our Hardware department is not left out in the cold with two new announcements, guaranteed to make some waves, competitions (of course), Xfusion part two, more software updates with cool new features and a host of tips and facts designed to enhance your Xenium experience, so stay tuned!

SEVEN POINTS A-POSTING...

Six great a-wards...

Fiiiiive brand new skiiiiins...

Four more features...

Three French pens...

Two cool features...

And a lot of bug fixes in the source tree.

1. Apologies

Firstly, apologies for the delay in posting, but as many of you quite rightly guessed, holiday season sort of took us away longer than expected. What with family reunions, parties, catch up get togethers, we figured our team deserved their much needed break and family time so we did not push too hard.

2. 12 days part two

Now with that out the way, we’re back, rejuvenated, re-focused and ready to kick some serious butt!! We have a second part of the 12 days of Christmas to unveil plus a whole host of exciting developments for the New Year. Unlike others we like to keep our cards close to our chest and release news and features as they are ready. We would like to end off this year with a bang (or begin the New Year with a bang, whichever you prefer) so we are building up the tempo once again. With the flood of questions, expectation and anticipation we have created we are burning the midnight oil to release the scheduled hardware and software features we have planned for you.

3. Xenium Stars again

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Jonathan Harbour on the recent publication of his new book: The Black Art of Xbox Mods. Our Xenium is proud to have had a leading role in this book, and was featured rather exclusivly in nearly every chapter, with competing products receiving only a brief 1-2 paragraph mention.

Pick up your copy today! Let us know what you think of the book, and stay tuned in the coming days as we will have several autographed copies to give away.

4. Retail News

We welcome the guys over at www.bmmods.com as official retailers. Check out their site's new look.

5. Competition Update

It has been a few days since we last updated you on the status of the competitions in progress. Entries are still flooding in both for the French Pen PR competition and the Skinning competition. Remember you still have time so get those entries in!

6. Hot Air

In the coming days (if all goes well) we have scheduled the much anticipated release of our newest piece of hardware designed to revolutionize the industry. We have heard a lot of hype and hot air about adaptors that will do this and that, bigger, better, etc... etc... Where are they?

7. XFusion
Of course, news about the development and progress of the new XFusion project has been a long time coming. The co-operation is moving along at a rapid rate and we are now ready to launch phase two of our promised promotion.

XFUSION DESIGN A LOGO COMPETITION:
We are so impressed by the number and quality of the skinning competition entries received so far that we thought we would give all you budding artists out there more chances to stretch those creative limits. The contest is simple:
Design a logo for the new Xfusion product.

Hints:
It has to be bold and has to have impact and flair. Be as wild and wacky as possible. You can also use the catch phrase “Re-write the rules” if you like, but it is not essential.
Email your entries to [email protected] *remove the .nospam. part*
All entries must be submitted by January 9th

Prizes:
We will have three finalists from which we will choose a grand prize winner.
Each finalist will receive the brand new Xlight, and a Xenium.
The winner will also receive a grand prize of $500, cash.

Enjoy!

Well it seems we have stirred things up again in various quarters around the scene. Nothing like a bit of hard factual information to get things moving is there? Firstly, a small explanation as to the reasons for our recent silence:

No we were not drunk, bumping into this celeb or that, we were working hard to get promised features out with tangible evidence for you. There are a number of reasons why we have delayed our posts. Other than the one given above, we also realized that the exposure and impact levels over the festive season and New Year were significantly lower than at other times since many of you were celebrating and visiting with family. We therefore decided to hold a little to let everyone get back into the swing of things again. Another major reason for silence was the impact the devastating Tsunamis had on us as a team and the world in general. We felt that light banter and stuff were not exactly what was appropriate at the time. In fact we, as a team, have decided to contribute to the devastated region. Xbox-Scene has a great list of good organizations to donate to, and we encourage all our users, and fans to donate to one of them. Any help you can provide will go along way to helping to stablize and normalize the region once again. Click here to contribute

Now on to our news for today…
2005 has just started, and its already clear that the competition is scurrying around trying to second guess what we are up to. They are obviously rattled by our successes, and by what we’ve managed to achieve yet again.
Our recent Skryer announcement has caused the expected questions, criticism and of course competitive bashing that we expected. Comments in their own forums lead us to believe that they really dont know what we are up to, and would rather guess publicly, and wrongly what our plans are.

We won’t be guessing what they are doing. We dont need to. We have a plan, the people to work that plan, and a great premium product on which to base it.

2004 taught us many lessons, and one of them is our New Years resolution, to not blindly bash and criticize without facts, rather, we have chosen to focus more on delivering tangible results through quality products for our consumers.

More importantly, we learned that we have a premium product that has proven itself time and again, and as such we need to market and deliver premium quality support, PR, service and results. It is as simple as that.

The main question we have been asked over the past few days is:
“What is Skryer?”
It is an add on module that offers support for multiple types of LCD displays…and… Much much more………read on

1. First Graphic LCD for the Xbox:
Skryer, together with our custom screen (as per video preview) offers full graphic support. ie you are now no longer limited to simple 4x20 character displays.

2. Digital Contrast Control:
NO MANUAL POT. No need to open up your box every three weeks to manually change the contrast setting. The FIRST digitally controlled contrast control (and with non volatile memory) Just press a button on your joypad and you are done.

3. Brightness control:
Another first for us. Change the brightness of you LCD. Again, all done through software.(also non volatile)

4. MULTI VIEW (Multi-plexing):
Allows you to daisy chain more than one Skryer at a time. Multi view allows individual control of each graphic or character LCD display. Now you can scroll text (or graphics : -) ) across all multiple screens as well as the ability to display in simultaneous mode on multiple screens of similar type. How cool is that?

5. Custom SPI multi-plexing protocol.
Of course all the above features will be possible by using our newly developed and soon to be published SPI multi-plexing protocol.

6. Fully solderless install: (with graphic and EA DIP units)

7. Dip fit:
Now offers you the option of connecting solderlessly the EA DIP range of units. (Another first I would say.)

8. Customizable full parallel LCD port :
This port is designed to fit the majority of LCD units on the market today, ofcource still making use of our digital contrast and brightness engines. This port is customizable, 3,3 volt or 5v selectable as well as backlight LED current limiting resistor.

9. CPLD based:
So the attacks about speed etc are completely and utterly unfounded and inaccurate. (as usual).

That should clarify things a little for many of you. We are sure you will agree that our dedication to premium products and our desire to innovate and lead has now put us clearly ahead of competition. That is what premium products are all about is it not?

Look into the future. Welcome to Skryer.

COMPETITION UPDATE

With two more days to go in our 12 days of Christmas campaign, the entries to our competitions are flying in, fast and furious. We have received many great entries so far. This is your last chance to get any last minute additions in before we close the competitions. Remember, we have some great prizes to give away! Day 12 will be here before you know it, so hurry and get those entries in!

TEN LED COLOR SEQUENCES:

Today we thought we would give you a bit of fun to try out. We have added a great new feature, which has been requested time and again on forums, which allows for advanced control of the Xenium's full-color LED, as well as the front-panel LEDs. We have made ten different example sequences for you to play with, and to use as a starting point for some ideas of your own. We've put together a short video which demonstrates using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques to perform a few simple tricks. (Note that PWM is only applicable to the on-chip LED, as the front-panel LED can not be updated quickly enough to perform these effects.) Who said Christmas was over? Go ahead and try it out!

The .led files should be placed directly in the E:\XeniumOS\Leds\ directory on your xbox. They will then appear under the "Choose LEDs..." menu under Xenium Setting in XeniumOS. The format of these files is straightforward; each line in the file represents one set of the leds. The first number is the duration for this set, the second number represents the color to set on the chip LED (0-7), and the third number is a standard hexadecimal representation of the front-panel LED.

The buildup to our grand finale has begun. Watch this space.

ELEVEN PIPERS PIPING

The fanfare has begun. Today’s news release is a further illustration of how unique and advanced the Xenium really is. We have absolutely been swamped by enquiries, compliments and of course utter amazement at how far fourth generation can actually go. The hype caused by the news release of our Skryer has prompted us to give more features, facts and general information in both graphic form and also through a video created specifically to show a live example of how far we have taken this concept. We have decided to let the pictures speak for themselves as we think they are pretty amazing. What we will say, however, is that it is now becoming blatantly clear that owning a Xenium is a privilege that those who are not part of the elite group will never understand or experience. Once again, the challenge has been set for the others to follow the pied piper.

Enjoy!

Well for day 12 the drummers will be drumming for another huge announcement

So see you then.

This video demonstration shows 2 Skryers connected up to our Graphics LCD units and working in both Simultaneous Mode (the brightness and contrast of both units is actually adjusted through the joypad ) and Concurrent mode , where the animation is being sent to each unit individually. Both units are connected in series to one Xenium. It is absolutely amazing to see, and there is still more to come ; -)

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the support and participation during our 12 Days of Christmas. Entries to competitions are now closed. Once judging has been done winners will be announced in the coming days. Of course this does not mean that news and new features and innovations are over. Far from it. We still have a few surprises yet, so watch this space for more.

PR Competition Winners Announced

>> From TeamXodus.com:

QUOTE
XODUS ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE FRENCH PEN PR COMPETITION.

We are proud to announce the winners of our French Pen PR competition. Today, there is no hype or banter as the winning entries speak for themselves. All we will say is that the title, “12 (twelve) reasons why Xenium is the Best” seemed to pose no problem at all to the many entrants we judged. It is truly a powerful and positive reflection on our multi-faceted product and our multi talented supporter base that so many quality entries were submitted. Well done! We had debated whether 12 different reasons why our product, team and supporter base were the best, would be manageable and we had thought of asking for only three or five reasons but we are glad we did not do that as that would have been way too simple for Xenium supporters smile.gif

After pouring through the entries we finally settled on three finalists. The overall winner, Rabid 1 takes centre stage today. You can read the other finalist entries by Dimitri and Rigoberto, and we are sure you will agree that our decision was not an easy one. The winners will be contacted individually and given the choice of the antique French Pen or a cash prize of $ 250.

But enough from us, as promised, here is your new PR man Rabid 1 who has the floor. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all those who entered.

WINNING ENTRY:

First a little background for you. I am a 41 year old ex-nightclub bouncer and manager. I have huge fingers and working in the dark for 12 years will certainly screw your eyesight. I got into PC and Network design because it was the only thing that didn’t bore me after I left the business. Since that has been getting a little stale I was interested in modding.

After a year of reading about different chips and being told this chip is better than that chip I came across the Xenium Ice. The descriptions sounded too good to be true and the posts on TeamXodus.com were a little cocky for a newly released product. I like that! I had helped a few people install some of the “other guy’s chips” and after trying to place switches and connect programmers I was really expecting more of the same. So in September I ordered my first Xenium.

user posted image

Most chips talk of ease of installation but leave out the finer points of what is really entailed until you have already paid the price. My Xenium arrived and after having read the tutorials a few times before it showed up it was up and running in 10 to 15 minutes. I was shocked. At first look I was daunted by the small d0 and the LPC. But the adapter sunk right in and the d0 took just second and some common sense to rough it up for better contact, it was solder filled.

The ease of install advertised was exactly what I got. I bragged it up so much I had to put my money where my mouth was and mod a couple of co-workers at the risk of my having to replace the Xbox should I screw up. Needless to say I have not yet had to cough up once. Here it is 3 months later and I just topped 30 installs, which the Xenium Ice has made so easy that I don’t charge for them. I let the word of mouth speak for itself. Almost every install has commented on the overall ease of use and user friendly interface of the OS 2.0, particularly the ex users of the “other guy’s”. They can’t believe a chip can be so easy to setup. From using the Web server to Launch or flash a bios, or flashing from USB, to the ability to play on Xbox Live without turning off or removing the chip. The HD upgrade wizard is simple and clean, being able to backup the eeprom to the chip keeps me safe from my “ooh let’s push this and see what it does” evil little inner voice, and I will put a properly installed Xenium solderless install against any solder job.

Let’s not forget the support forums, where members are actually encouraged to participate and aren’t made to feel like stupid “noobs” (although in the beginning aren’t we all?). Simply asking questions on other forums left me with standard responses about “wait until you have the chip so you know what you are talking about”. Rarely did anyone take the time to try to point me in the right direction.

So let’s break some of it down -

1. Ease of Install
2. Stable and user friendly OS
3. Online Flash and Launch
4. Full networking suite
5. Region control
6. On the fly OS upgrade
7. On the fly OS recovery
8. Eeprom backup and restore
9. Xbox live support
10. Great after sale customer service
11. Seamless compatibility with mainstream bios
12. Cute little multi color LED and USB port( Hey! Even a mod chip needs a little something cute!)

So let the pretenders bring on their bells and whistles, and try to confuse us with finger pointing and blame. An engine has to run right before it’s worth painting and polishing the whole car, and so should the chip work well before it should beep, twinkle and buzz. The Xenium doesn’t just work well, it out performs the competition. I am looking forward to the day when I proudly wear the logo “Xenium Inside” on the monitor to my pacemaker. After all…

Xenium S.P.ICE Now Shipping, S.P.ICE 1.6 Install Manual

>> From TeamXodus.com:

QUOTE
XENIUM SPICE NOW SHIPPING:

We are proud to announce that our much anticipated bundled package including, Xenium, Xsorease and our brand new 1.6 compatible adaptor are now shipping. As expected, with the release of yet another revolutionary product, demand has been overwhelming and we have been working night and day to fulfill back orders. We are glad to announce that we are now on track and that orders are shipping.

IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION

Despite our clear and concise announcements it appears that some retailers have caused confusion in the market by trying to separate the special SPICE bundle pack to sell adaptors separately. This will not work! We would like to make it clear to all that there is a distinct difference between the SPICE adaptor and the Xodus SP adaptor (not yet released).
The SPICE bundle pack has an adaptor that works off 3.3 volts and will work with chips that are 3.3 volts ONLY. It will not work with other chips.
The SP adaptor is the universal one that will work with other chips and it is not yet released. We have individually contacted retailers to clarify these points once again and we are ensuring that confusing text on sites is being rectified immediately. Our specially configured adaptor for the SPICE bundle is just that, specially configured and should not be confused in any way whatsoever with the universal SP adaptor designed for all other chips. We trust that the point is now made and that the difference is now crystal clear to all.

INSTALL MANUALS HERE

Included in this post are the install manuals that many of you have been waiting for. (Manual). Updated manuals for the 1.0 - 1.4 install will follow shortly.

XODUS SP UNIVERSAL ADAPTOR RELEASED

Following hot on the heels of our success with Xenium SPICE, the much anticipated and requested Universal Xodus XP adaptor is out on pre-order now with shipping commencing by the beginning of next week.

Xenium SPICE, has surpassed all expectations and has proven once again that our innovative and unique designs make DIY a breeze. Don’t take our word for it. Here are a few samples of what some satisfied customers had to say:

“I installed a S.P.ICE today. It’s the best invention since velcro! Installation has never been easier, it is pretty much idiot proof. The adapter auto aligns and all the pins fall into place. It was great!”
Thanks to you all for your support. “

“as a first time modder, the sp adapter made my life so much easier. (when i first opened my 1.6 box, i was thinking "sh!t those traces/vias are tiny" that i def. wouldnt have been able to solder it myself). i'm not saying that the sp adapter is totally easy/foolproof either because my install took longer than their little tutorial. the diffculty lies in getting the wires to "snap/click" into place; directly in the center of the vias. this involves shoving the wires trying to get them centered so that you get contact and the led's make it much easier to differentiate”

“I tried the old solderless adapters, and they sucked. I installed a spice on a friends xbox and it was 10 times better. It was a whole lot sturdier than i thought it would be. “

SNEAK PEAK

As a special sneak peak into our rigorous world of quality control and testing we thought we would let you have a look at one of our top secret vids.

A bit extreme you say? We think not. Well at least not for the SPICE smile.gif

A point of clarity for those that may have missed previous posts:

The adaptor shipped with the Xenium in the SPICE bundle package is exclusive to Xenium.

Based on the same technology, the Xodus SP adapter is the first TRULY UNIVERSAL ADAPTER that works on all known Xbox versions to date and compatible with amost all LPC based modchips that have the Xodus system of wiring d0 control to pin 4 of the LPC. OzX and Xodus team up

>> From a ozxchip member..
It is with great pleasure at this festive time of the year that we announce that an alliance has been formed between the two teams of Xodus and OzXChip, this new entity will be known as OzXodus.

Following initial contact between several core members of each team we discovered that the groups shared an uncanny similarity in their philosophy and goals. With recent events changing the operations of both teams, the decision was made to form an alliance that would allow both teams to complement the other's areas of expertise.

The formation of the OzXodus alliance has lead to the development of the XENIUM which we believe to be the neXt generation of upgrade kits for your console. The XENIUM will set new standards in functionality, upgradability and control over your console with a price-tag that will be as amazing as the device itself.

OzXodus will also be introducing a new business model that should offer some great benefits to the end user as well as offering some unique opportunities for retailers of console hardware.

Stay tuned.......

The following is a brief description of the componentry found on the XENIUM as seen in the recently released sneak preview photos.
