Title: Hackdabox Talks About Spiderchips !

=======================================
  A brief overview of the Spiderchip family by HackDaBox !
=======================================

The spiderchips have been very popular right from the first day the spiderchip v1.0 came out mostly with noobs becuase of the claims like

Solderless and easy installation !
Works on all xbox versions!
Easy Bios Flashing !

But then there were hundreds of posts on the forums like these ...

Stupid spider just wont boot ???
How do i open the vias ?
BIOS update not found...halting!

and many many more. It seems for most people the chip promised the world but delivered frustration is large doses !

I have created install and flashing guides and tutorials for the spiderchip ( not because i like the chips but becuase i feel sorry for their owners ) !

The problems that were present in the fist spiderchip (V1.0) remained in the next release ( V1.1 ) and even the New Spider GX

The 3 main problems with all spiderchips are ...

Poor design of the spiderchip makes it dificult for the chip to make a good contact with the LPC bus and without this the chip cannot work reliably!

On V1.6 consoles the spiders legs must be pushed into vias (very small holes ) in the motherboard. Some V1.6 motherboards vias are filled laquer and it's near impossible to clear the laquer from the holes without causing damage to the motherboard and it also prevents the leg from making a 100% connection which greatly reduces the chances of a good install.

Lack of support from the spiderchip team. emails are not returned in a lot of cases( mine never ! ) manuals are almost never updated and never cover problems like the vias filled with laquer !

Ofcourse there are other problems but these 3 factors make the chip not worth purchasing in my opinion.

If you have already purchased a spider but not installed it i would try to return the chip and order a Xenium Spice if you want a reliable solderless chip.

If you are going to install the chip or you have already attempted to install the chip then you are best to follow the instructions on my website HackDaBox's lair ! and use a sqeeze guide if you can't solder.

If you can solder then please solder a pinheader onto your motherboard and plug your spiderchip V1.0 / V1.1 onto it as this is the best and most reliable method. V1.6 owners should solder a LPC rebuild the same way as you would any other lpc modchip. This defeats the purpose of a solderless chip i know but it does turn a useless purchase into a working solution !

Spider GX owners i am sorry to inform you but the Spider team have removed the female pinheader from the new Spider GX which means you cannot solder a pinheader in and plug the chip in. You will have to screw the chip down after aligning the chip perfectly. You need to tighten the screw untill it's firm but do not overtighten ! then you need to twist the chip ever so slightly and keep retesting by powering off and on untill the led lights up and the chip works then use one of the squeeze methods shown on my website !

To hardest install will be with a Spider GX and a V1.6 becuase it can't be soldered using a headerpin which means problems aligning and your via's may be filled with laquer preventing the legs being pushed in.

You will need lots of time and patience to install a spider GX in a V1.6 because you won't know which connection is not making contact ! And fixing one connection can break another !

www.HackDaBox.com can help install and flash your spiderchip but it is still sometimes a long and trying experience !
