Title: Duox2 Gs Problem, Please Help!
Post by: Chancer on April 11, 2008, 02:44:00 AM
Does the box still boot the original MS bios?
I assume with D0 grounded and BT linked you get the FRAG every boot. If so then there is almost certainly a bad connection to the LPC or some damage to the LPC. As the box is a V1 did you have to remove the solder from the LPC to fit the Pinheader? This is when damage occurs. You need to very carefully and using goodlight and  a strong magnifier, check the LPC and reflow/repair the connections as needed.

with the chip removed, the box still boots original bios. yeah i get frag everyboot, i did have to remove the solder. thanks for your help. if there are any damages to the traces or in the lpc, is it fixable?

sometimes you can bypass a trace using a jumper wire. it depends on the extent of the damage.

what method did you use to remove the solder?

have you checked connectivity on all of your seperate LPC points?

one of them is almost certainly bad.

if you can narrow it down, it will make the fix quite a bit easier.

your D0 is good.

for convenience, just keep BT jumped on the chip until you sort the mess out.

also, any DUOX2 bios bank should work on a 1.0.

the white chips come with cromwell/flashbios.

the blue ones come with x2/m8.

don't use the m8 unless you have a 1.6 (it will still boot a 1.0, though).
