i have no clue whats wrong. I dont what to sound like a total noob, but i think i did a good soldering job. I solder the circuit board that came with the duox 2 chip. I turn the box on and it boots 2 times and on the third starts to christmas lights. I did softmod this box and it effed up and got error 7.
Help me plz. i do know that the board and chip do work.

Everything worked before you did the hard mod correct? Check for solder splash/castoff.
-
yes and no it had error 7. Because of softmod, i dont see any splashes of solder
-
anyone have a clue wht to do. ehh?
-
You need a new HDD. Error 7 means the one in at the moment is stuffed.
You also need to re-do the soldering to the LPC on your chip install.

i have a blank hard drive (not xbox) 100 gb WD.i tried that same thing, i also resoldered the lpc holes again. Same thing happened Fragged. I have a 1.0 with a hyperX i flashed the wrong bank so the chip is effed but when its off it can reformat a drive when a drive is inserted. can i format the drive and put it in the 1.6

if you are getting 3-FRAG, you damaged the motherboard, or you have a 1/2-ass LPC install.
another possibility is an incompatable bios. also, give it a few tries at booting. i've seen a new chip install frag a couple times before working correctly. when this happens, the frag problem should go away for good on the first good boot. if it doesn't, check your connections.
check your points, and get your motherboard working again.
you can worry about your HD after that.
first things first.

the duox2 just flashes like that, thats normal

the best way to do the LPC rebuild board (in my opinion)....
(by tin, i meant coat with solder..)
tin the connection points on your rebuild board.
don't go apeshit with it, or it won't lie down correctly.
tin your points on the MoBo.
once again....don't go ape fucking it, or .....
you see that tricky point on the inside corner of the rebuild board?
do that one first. you have enough solder already, so put that shit away.
as you press down on the point with your iron, you will fill the board sink into place.
keep finger pressure applied until the solder sets.
if it doesn't line up, just heat that one point, and rotate the rebuild board until it lines up.
now repeat the steps for the other points. you should feel them sink into place.
use a needle to try and lightly pry on the rebuild board near your points to make sure they are all welded together.
now, gently insert pinheader (the male one dummy) and solder it to the rebuild board.
if this is a white chip, you may not be able to use the flash utility with v1.6.
if this is the case, do it with linux or an older xbox.

VERY nice post litspliff. I have never seen it spelled out so clearly before.
The tinning is the trick for sure.

thanks, jim.
that means a lot.
maybe a mod can clean up the graffiti and pin it!
it's the method that has never failed for me.
i hope it works for everyone else.
