Title: No Video Or Sound With Blue Duox2 On V1.6b
Post by: Supersmi on December 25, 2007, 03:14:00 AM
Hi all, let me wish you a merry Christmas to start this day.
I wanted to give a modded xbox to my sister for her Christmas, unfortunately I came across a problem which I am unable to solve and I would like some help.

I bought myself a second hand xbox v1.6b and wanted to install the blue DUOX2 chip in it. So that's what I did.
The problem is that when I boot the thing with chip enabled (boot with power button) it gives me a blank screen and no sound.
When I boot with the eject button the screen is just fine

Here is what I already tried to solve this problem:

- I tested the soldering points by doing them again, 3 times (because that's what I was reading everwhere)
- I tested the  soldering points with a "multimeter" to see if the contact points were in contact
- I tested the chip on my other xbox (1.6) and it worked fine
- I flashed the chip with another BIOS (the one that is on the HACKDABOX flash CD and also with the M8plus_16.bin and the generic flash cd from eurasia)
=> the flashing was done by putting the chip in my 1.6 xbox, then flash it, and then return it to the 1.6b

All those steps to come to the same result => blank screen and no audio.

Does anyone has an idea on what I could do next to test it out?

Are you using the original AV cable came with the XBOX? You should use the with with composite video connection. Once you have Evox/XBMC installed, you can switch to a HD cable.

You also need to original MS gamepad. A after market pad won't work either.

Everythin is as it should be, the disk is spinning, the light is green, I am using an original gamepad.
it's just like I didn't turn on the TV (which I did :-) )

what bios are you using?

have you tried to re-flash?

also, try flashing a retail bios and see if it boots that off the chip.

Chip boots ok in another box so both the chip and the bios are fine.
the problem is you damaged something during installation. You will have to clean up the install with braid and get a strong magnifier out, using good light, to find the problem.
You have proved the chip and it's bios work fine.
If you remove the chip and boot the original bios does it do the same?
If the retail boot does not work either then you certainly splashed some solder somewhere or cut   a trace.
