Title: What Happens If?
Post by: Fr0s7y on February 06, 2007, 05:46:00 AM
I'm sorry for the noob questions but I want to know what happens if:
1.Solder between pins touches?(short circuit?)
2.I touch the MB with the soldering iron?
3.There are stalactites on the pins?
My chip is DuoX2 GS White just for the record

1. The chip will not work and you run the chance of damage if you power on the box with the short across the pins
2. Nothing unless the box is plugged in or you leave it there so long that it burns some of the board
3. Your soldering iron is not powerful/hot enough and it is pulling the solder away when withdrawing the iron. The connections will be poor and the chip will not boot.

I am using a 30W SI. I have a 60W one. Should I use it instead?

30w should be plenty. Tip size may be too small.

I also think 30W is more than enough , but the soldering iron is really cheap and it might not be powerful enough. I'll just try the 60W one 'cuz it's the same brand  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

First of all sorry for the double post.
Secondly - Whatever I try it just fkks  up. I installed the chip with the D0 and with the BT and all but now when I turn it on it boots up to the XBOX screen and even doesn't show the white M$ logo under it. Where have I gone wrong? Bad soldering or? There are almost no stalactites on the pin header. I spent about 40-50 mins just cleaning them up. Eject-start does the same , so I think it's not the BT or D0
EDIT : Damn it! Now I connected the HD and DVD and it runs normally. So I fux0red up the solder joints. Is there any way you can tell just which I got wrong.
