Okay, I was exhausted this morning and the stuff I did last night was a blur.
I just got his HD to boot in my good xbox. from Slayer's 2.6 disk I reformatted the Hard drive to the MS default.
I took his HD out of my machine and put it back in his.
If I boot it with no Mod Chip, I get an Error 21. Video and audio are fine
If I boot it with the Slayer disk in the Drive or off the Hard Drive, the Green Blob happens, X, then Microsoft shows up, then it reboots itself. Video and Audio are fine.
if I boot with the Bank0 selected, (I have flashed Bank0 with FlashBios 303) it comes up in black and white and flickering.
That is what I have happening right now. I can't get it to boot off the HDD or the DVD drive. - with Mod Chip it reboots- witout the Mod Chip it throws the error.
Any help is always good help and of course I appreciate it.

Okay, I have reflashed both banks of this mod chip. Both had BiosFlash 303 on them. On either side the video is black and white and scrolling. If I hit A and grab an IP address and go to the xbox through my network and load a new bios file, it works fine. When i power back up to that bank (the freshly flashed with a 512 M8 Plus) it loads with the Evo X triange and hangs. however the video is clear.
My question is..when you boot to the Flashbios 303 is it looking at the MS system bios? Like...if the REAL xbox's bios is set somehow to PAL could that cause the black and white scrolling issue?
and once I flash the mod chip with a REAL bios (the 512m8plus) is it then still using the TSOP at all? like...is it an inconsistancy between the 2 bios that could be my problem?
help please!

alright solved my own problem, here's documentation on the resolution:
As well as I can understand it- here's what happened.
The guy set the EEPROM on the Xbox to PAL.
Here's how I figured it out.
When the mod chip comes by default it can not legally have an xbox game running capable bios on it. So it comes with flashbios (bank1) and Cromwell Linux (on bank 0). Those (my guess is) have no setting (PAL or NTSC) so they go by whatever the M$ EEPROM says. in my case it said PAL so it came up all black and white and flickery. When I'd flash it with Evox M8Plus it would take on it's own setting (presumably NTSC) and it would not agree with the PAL on the M$ EEPROM. so it would go to boot and it would either lock up reboot over and over.
Eventually (after a whole LOT of searching) I finally found out that the Gentoox ShALLaX Loader v6.0.5, resized the one rom and put that on. It allowed me to browse to the eeprom and then go to to the video settings. Sure enough, it's set to PAL. I changed it to NTSC and voila! I flashed it with Evox M8Plus and bang! Dashboard.
I hope this helps someone take less than the week it took me to figure out this problem.
