Title: Duo X2 Cromwell On V1.6
Post by: nortnil on August 19, 2006, 09:24:00 PM
When I initially installed the chip it would work but only if I pressed down on the left side of the chip.  I did this to load it and get it flashed.  It worked so long as I applied light pressure on it to get the light on the modchip to work.  Since this obviously isn't acceptable i assumed it was my soldering that was messed up so I went back and checked everything including the instillation of the female pinheaded on the chip.  Everything seemed to be in order and now the chip's light will flash but now it won't load the flash.  The OEM bios works when I press the eject button to disable the chip.  I've checked the pin 9 has 5v running to it and that pin 6 has 3.3v going to it.  Does anyone know what the other pin outs are so I can check to make sure they are working?  Anyone have any thoughts as to where my problems could be.  I've checked my soldering about 20 times now and don't see a problem and I have installed countless chips in the past with no problems.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have replaced the female header for a new one and know the soldering is ok then its possible that you have a bad connection on the SMD ICs on the chip itself (Not done by you) If you can rework them then I would reflow the components on the chip itself. The component count is low so it should not take long

I know this thread is old, but I am having the exact same problem.

I gotta hold the corner of the chip down for it to boot. Its so annoying.

im really not sure where to go from here.
