Title: Duo X 2gs Blue
Post by: Julius Pleaser on April 20, 2006, 02:04:00 PM
The blue one comes preflashed.  That is the difference between the white and blue.  White (legal bios), Blue (Hacked Bios).  So you are good to go with the blue one.

Howdy,

I know next to nothing about hardware mods but I got a DuoX 2 GS (blue) and set the switch to bank 0 for the Xecuter2 BIOS (since I have a 1.0 box) and have been VERY pleased with it.  It does all you asked about out of the package.  I also like the ability to boot up to the normal MS BIOS by pressing the eject button as well.

If you want some videos detailing the installation process search for posts by Ghost.  It is a very simple install but seeing someone do it helps.  Also look at Chancer's signiature files.  He has links to pages on his site that  show good info also.

From what I see there probably is no real reason to flash the chip, since it comes with a 1.6 and a 1.0-15 BIOS, but if you want to flash it what I found that made it VERY easy was some of the auto installer CDs you can download.  Auto Installer Deluxe has a BIOS add on that has about every BIOS you could want and will flash them straight from the CD or DVD boot.  Also Slayers and XBox-Board.de auto installers also have BIOS flashers in them.

Also another simple way to flash is to get the Evox dashboard installed and put whatever BIOSes you want into a BIOS  sub directory (create it if it does not exist).  That way you can just launch the Evox dashboard and flash away to your hearts content.  I used this method when I was experimenting with colormods using XBTool.  I would tinker with the BIOS on my PC then FTP it into the Evox\Bios directory, then just go to the BIOS flashing menu in the dash.

Hope this helps,

Hoyt

Use an auto installer like Slayers or AID to install a dashoard.
