Title: Error 06 With A Duox2 Installed?
Post by: ikecomp on April 08, 2006, 11:11:00 PM
Same problem here except I don't have mod chip. I tried updating the eeprom on a 1.0 softmod xbox and now it boots to an error 6. Can anyone help  sad.gif

Error 6 the drive is locked with the wrong key for that eeprom/mobo.
Unless you have the correct key its a paperweight.
There supposedly is a method for unlocking WD drives with a master password and the seagate can be done. But I can't vouch for this working

I have a backup of the eeprom.bin and all the other files that evox makes a backup of. So could I just use xboxhdm to properly lock the drive?

The drive is already locked. In order to relock it with the correct key you need to unlock it first. There lies the problem. Hotswap will not work with an error 6 drive and as stated XBHDM needs the drive to be unlocked first

when I used configmagic to lock the drive it said it set the master password to TEAMASSEMBLY. I think I can use atapwd to unlock it. My question is, when I used configmagic to update the eeprom on my xbox did it actually update the eeprom on my xbox and then locked my hard drive with the wrong key or did it not update the eeprom on my xbox at all and then lock my hard drive with the wrong key.
