I just purchased a DuoX2 Cromwell, it should arrive in a few days. I have a v1.4 Xbox. I don't know whether to use the 4981 X2 BIOS, or the M7 BIOS supplied with EvolutionX. I was told by a friend to use the Evo BIOS, but in all of the tutorials I have read, they say to use the 4981. What do you guys think?

Also, the X2 came with two files, 4981.06_256k.bin and 4981.67_256k.bin.

I would go with x2 4983 (.06 means all the hdd space is on f, .67 means the extra hdd space is on G) Make sure you resize the bios to 512 KB first before flashing.

It came in today. As soon as I got in the house with it, it took maybe 4 minutes to disassemble my Xbox and have the pins pulled out of the pin headers. I am waiting for a friend to show up with his soldering iron. I still don't know which BIOS to flash it with. Between the X2 and the EvoX, which should I go with?

I always go X24981.67

I always use the new x2 5035 bios as I don't buy clone chips. If you are sure that you have a real duox2 cromwell then that is a great bios.

I used my 4981. Wow the install. I will never forget. I am not a good solderer, so at first i got "solder splash" errors, then the chip wasn't getting power. I re-soldered everything twice, still nothing. I take the chip off of the header and guess what? i took out two pins from the top, one from the bottom. As you all know, it is supposed to be the other way around. So i just took one of the pins I did have to take out, and soldered it in. connected everything back, pressed power, VOILA! I connected Pin 9(G) to BT for always on since I don't have XBL.
