You have to ellaborate on "sometimes works"  Does the box frag when it doesn't work?  Just go to Xbox dash?  Does nothing?  You need to be more specific.
If it just acts lke there is no chip then I would suggest checking out your D0 connection.

If it is fragging, then I would bet it is your solder job that is the problem.  Check ALL of your soldering work to be safe.

the problem is likely the female header on the chip itself or the bank switch.
put up a picture of your soldering on the LPC someone may spot something you did not.
I have to say my instinct is with Julius Pleaser on this one and that soldering is the problem.
Ignore some of my post. this is what happens when someone hiJacks the thread. (I have edited it out)
I am now going to make the posts invisible

If you take it all apart you may want to try the wire method. I heard that the wire method is easier, thats what I am going to do when I get my DUOX2

get some photos of your work for us to examine, that way we can suggest what you need to improve on rather than just saying "Try again".

And I would suggest not listening to dan_plus_o.  He is confused.  On anything other than a 1.0 or 1.1 that is solder filled, no one uses the wire install.  What he might be referring to is the LPC rebuild on a version 1.6 that all of the advanced people do wire rebuilds versus the junk rebuild boards.  Both of which don't apply to you.
