Does this happen to be a 1.6?

Verify you are using the original video cord and not the HD pack for your video cable as Cromwell requires the standard cables. If this doesn't help try another chip on that pin header and verify the LPC pin by pin. Defective chips show up but are rare.

Then borrow a MS standard AV cable to install the BIOS from a buddy. You only need it until you install a hacked bios.
Or you might even be able just do the bios flash blind if the box is actually working.

thanks guys, it was the video cable. I simply switched the video to standard connector from s-video and BAM!
