Title: Duox2 Dashboard Loading-help
Post by: notdumb on August 28, 2005, 02:03:00 PM
I have installed a DUOX2 (not cromwell vers - the cheap blue one)  in my vers 1.0 XB  - one bank has the EVOX shield when I boot, but it goes to the MS dashboard.

The other bank boots and has "Xecuter" where M$ is usually displayed ...but NEITHER will boot to a dahboard.

I have DL'ed Evox / UnleashX / auto installers, etc  and tried about 20 times to get a dash loaded...it never reads the discs.  (I now have a huge pile of discs and could have bought another chip with the money I have "wasted" trying to get this going)

I am not retarded, nor am I slow - I have read MANY tuts on how to do this, but CAN"t get it to work. (If I could get this going I could finallt FTP to my XB - which was the whole purpose of going with a hardware mod)

The chip seller is not any help at all...I understood the chip to be preflashed...not I am left to fend for myself....

I will be eternally grateful to the soul who can help me with this.

what dvd drive do you have?
since it's a 1.0 i'm assuming it's a thomson.
if it is, you're going to be better off with buring to a dvd+r or dvd-r
that drive has some difficulty with cdrw

and to double check, you are renaming the dashboard in your boot disc "default.xbe" right?
burning to an iso?

Also make sure you are burning as an xiso, the xbox wont read iso9660.  More than likely you are using crappy media and not burning properly.  Go get a copy of slayers 2.6 and burn it to a dvd-r, it is all set up to run and install everything for you.

Why would he be any help he sold you a chip that is clearly working the rest is up to you.
Here is the check list
Use the bank with the X2 bios for your version bank 0
Put all the evox files in a folder together
Inside that folder re-name the evoxdash.xbe to default.xbe.
make an XISO of the whole folder using qwix or whatever
Burn it to DVD-R (Ritek or similar brand) if poss or CDRW.
Boot the box with the disc in the drive.
If it does not recognise the disc then try different media.
You could also consider just obtaining a ready made installer to put on the dash like Slayers 2.6 or AID 2.11, but obvioulsy the same advice regarding media applies.
