Title: Duox2 Problems
Post by: ChuckBales on July 06, 2005, 03:12:00 PM
I installed it all up, the d0 gave me problems but i thought i might have had it. Plugged everything in and turned it on via power button. The xbox turns on, off, on, off, then stays on with no video or sound, frags and the led on the chip is blinking red. It does the same thing when turning on with the eject button.

I then tried the BT to G wire to have it always on to troubleshoot, it did the same thing, using either power button or eject button.

My dad has a client that owns a PCB factory/shop so I am going to have him do the d0 point for me, so I untaped the d0 wire I tried with, took BT off of everything (PCB eject and point G on the chip), so only the LPC points are connected to the chip, and all those points seems solidly soldered.  The xbox still does the 3 boot-frag-no video/sound thing,  should it be booting to the MS dash when BT and d0 are not connected?

Edit:forgot to say the DVD drive does not open when powering on with either button.

yes with the do wire removed the xbox should indeed boot to the m$ dash , sounds like you have damaged the d0 trace pics would maybe help , but id say thats what the problem is

You seem to have multiple crappy connections. BT is suspect because you can't get the LED to not flash red on the chip via eject. Also it's not communicating on the LPC or wrong bank/bios etc. You are getting power and ground. It could be a duff chip but that's the last resort.

Just got back from the PCB place where I had the chip professionally soldered in, got him home, soldered the BT myself, hooked everything, power on via power button and up comes the FlashBios screen! So now i guess I flash with the new bios, FTP to it, get the stuff, etc.

However, when powering on via eject button, it turns on then turns off immediately, then turns back on with the chip, and the tray ejects, but no MS dash. Is the BT line likely causing this or does that do something else?

UPDATE: Just booted with power buton, got to FlashBios, inserted the FlashBios CD-RW, it came up with the yellow bar then green bar then shut down. I booted up again with power button, the Xbox logo comes up in red with yellow yext, then Xecuter 2 underneath that logo, but then goes straight to the MS Dash.  The chip is blinking red.

Using the eject button it still turns on then off, then on again to the Xecuter xbox logo screen, then straight to MS dash.  uhh.gif

Also, the Cromwell Bios loads when I switch to the other bank, should I use the Eurasia disc for that now or wait until the Flashbios bank is up and running?

Well its a wire install, so cant really remove it. And I dont think its working when its enabled because it boots to the MS dash after giving the Xecuter 2 logo, unless its supposed to and Im missing something, this is my first mod.

If you didn't install a hacked Dash like Evox or Avalaunch then it will always go into MS Dash with the chip On or Off. You can play backups with the chip On though and boot an Auto installer to install your dah and any other apps you want.

The eject Button should not boot the Xecuter Bipson the chip so there is still something wrong on the install (D0? maybe).

Ahh yes, so now I need to make some boot disc with EvoX on it or something? I just need to be able to FTP to the stock HD so I can pull all my gamesaves and whatnot off, then put the new HD, Slayers, etc.

I read here that to go straight from my laptop to xbox, i need a straight through cable, ie the same kind that would hook up multiple things to a router/hub?

Here is a basic guide on networking your xbox:

http://evox.xboxhack...networking.html

Basically if you are not using a router then all you need is a crossover cable, if you are using a router then a regular ethernet cable connected to the router will work.

Also, I ran the Slayers 2.6 install on my laptop, used Nero to burn the image located in the Slayers folder to a CD-RW, nothing shows on the CD in my laptop though I read this is normal since their xbox files or something, but when I insert it into the xbox, shut down, reboot via power button,  it boots to the xecuter2 xbox logo, then MS dash saying the disc cant be read.

If you are sure you are burning the disk right then try a different media (DVD-R) or a different brand of CD-RW.

you need to create an .xiso then burn that to a CD-RW. I have never used slayers but im guessing it dont come already as an xiso. It is easy enough to make your own boot disc instead of downloading slayers.

I erased the old slayers cd, redid double checking i had all the correct options checked off and it worked, im now looking at the slayers menu, stock hard drive installed

I think its a crossover cable (the colored wires in the ends are jumbled around) connected from laptop to xbox, i boot up slayers and the ip is 0.0.0.0. I did the "Save BIOS/EEPROM" option, am I supposed to be able to FTP to it while the Slayers menu is up, or do I need to install EvoX from the disc first. I went to that option but it said to make sure I have a backup of the C:, which I cant get yet....

If you are using crossover cable you might need to edit the Evox.ini file before burning it to CDRW since I beleive its set to DHCP...So use Quix to extract the Slayers's ISO and then inside the folder extracted there is a file called Evox.INI, open it with notepad and scroll down to the network section, should look something like this:

[Network]
SetupNetwork   = Yes
StaticIP   = No
Ip      = 192.168.0.10
Subnetmask   = 255.255.255.0
Defaultgateway   = 192.168.0.1
DNS1      = 0.0.0.0
DNS2      = 0.0.0.0
SetupDelay   = 0
SkipIfNoLink   = No

Where it says "StaticIP" make sure it says Yes and make sure your computer's IP matches the xbo's IP. So if your xbox is 192.168.0.10 then make sure Laptops IP 192.168.0.11.

Then create another ISO file of the edited Slayers and reburn it.

I set both the laptop and evox.ini ip to 192.168.1.200, the gateway to 255.255.255.0, booted with the cd, windows told me there was a IP conflict with another machine on the network.

In FlashFXP i put the 192.168.1.200 in for the server/url box? And is the password/user both "xbox"? I thought i read that somewhere

No..Last digits need to be different so just make your laptop 192.168.1.201 or something other then .200

Yes server/url is IP number of the xbox..Username and password are "xbox" and leave the default port to 21

Thank you very much, Im able to FTP in now, backing up everything now.

So once I get the C: backup, I dont need the retail hd anymore and could pop the new hd in, Slayer it, etc?

Yes...Put the Stock hard drive on a safe place..Sitck the new big hard drive and bot with slayers and choose the option to rebuild new large hard drive.

I got the new HD, i went to FTP to it but no connection could be made, so I went to the Network settings in Slayers EvoX and Static IP is set to NO again, which I had to change to Yes in order to FTP via crossover. When I change it to Yes it automatcially changes back to No.

Sorry Im asking so many questions about this.

When choosing Full Install/Rebuild Large HD, should I choose Standard C or Stealth F?

Everytthing with the new hd seems to work, however I still have the problem when using the Eject button to power on.  It turns on for half a second then shuts down then reboots with the chip on to EvoX.  Could BT or d0 be causing this? The d0 looks very good and was soldered professionaly this morning.

Also, there is stuff in the TDATA and UDATA folders on my new hd, do I copy over these with the backups I made to get my gamesaves back?

I got the gamesaves back to the xbox, working fine, still have the problem with the eject button, cant get to the MS dash w/o going through EvoX

Ive been reading up and it appears that if the bottom d0 is damaged than the xbox cant boot with the chip off, which is exactly my problem. I just dont know how to fix the bottom d0, would I solder a connecting wire to the traces on either side of the point?

to repair a broken trace, you'll need to solder in a wire that connects the points/traces around the area which is damaged.

so in short, yes
