Title: New Duox2 Lite
Post by: Jtech|I on June 01, 2005, 02:31:00 AM
http://duomodchip.com/english/main.htm

Know they aren't out yet, but has anyone been able to test the new x2 bios on um? Hopefully the Lite will be compatible with it, unlike the Duox2. Maybe not...

Edit: Out as in being sold.

I've used the new xecuter 2 bios...on DuoX2's...why can't you?

5032 is the latest right?

I flash via network...every single time I flash a duox2 I have to press "upload" then press stop on my browser and then "upload" again...and it flashes like a charm.

I did about 5 xbox's this way last week.  Doing another 5 this weekend.

Hmm I personally haven't tried to flash it on a Duox2, jus hear of people not being able to. Since you guys have been able to flash it with 5032... guess that means all those ppl have clones, like ModdingManiac said. Looks like I have to try it then...

Thanks

The problem I have had is flashing the X2 5032 bios through evoxdash. For some reason the flash halts with this bios being flashed from the bios folder. Other bios files (only tried 256k ones) have resized and flashed no problems.
I used eurasia to flash the X2 5032 in the end and it flashed fine and works fine.
The DuoX 2 chips I tested this on are NOT clones but genuine blue ones.
I put it down to some glitch when using evox.
If anyone wants to know the box versions were a 1.4 and a 1.6

The way to tell is try it. If it works its easy and quick. If not  you still have a back up bank.
personally I don't like the bios anyway. the pause when it comes up loading config live can mean it skips the boot from default.xbe on a disc in the DVD. Not aproblem you might think but it can be in cases of installing a blank drive.
I did tests on 2 new blank drives and came accross this. Odd boot was ok. Flick to M8+.16 and no problems. I did discover errors with AID2 but thats another post
Good thing about the Duo is the 2 banks so you can experiment and have a way out if you ned it

I've also been flashing them with the white cromwell editions smile.gif

I don't mind the newest bios...it does what I need it to do.

Hope somebody will test out the DuoX 2 Lite and report on its compatibility with v1.6a and v1.6b. Can the default Evox, Shepd's FlashBIOS 3.01-3 or 3.03, raincoat flash them?

Nice prices oki, very nice considering what they cost its an amazing offer!
They wholesale $5.50 in bulk and shipping must be $3 USD at least.
You sell $9.50 shipped and that would only leave $1 USD, not taking into account packing costs and then paypal receiving fees around 4% and then paypal withdrawl fees to your bank account 3 - 4%. This seriously is a good price people  Get em while you can people, is too good to pass on

dont worry about this  beerchug.gif

it's the same exact chip as the regular duox2, only the bank is smaller so compatibility soudnt be an issue here.

Aladdin XT or Xenochip screwed up when they messed with the CPLD code to cater for SST 49LF020A flashrom, so I am just cautious that Team Omega didn't screw up their CPLD codes while going from 1MB flashrom (DuoX 2) to 512KB flashrom (DuoX2 Lite). The paranoid is a legacy of the painful experience with original Aladdin XTs and clones sad.gif

I doubt there is any problem since the original Duox2 was one 1mb Flashrom but it was used as two 512kb banks so you can say all they did was take away 1 bank. I still think the original Duox2 is better because of the back-up bank, I mean how many people here have flash the wrong Bios and weer lucky enough to have another bank to correct there mistake. I guess as a modder the Duox Lite would be a better choice but for "noobs" the Duox2 is probably better.

Chip is 100% compatible with X2 50xx bios, flashed it myself today and works fine.  Flashed using slayers, evox dash and euroflash disc.  Also flashed a 256k bios to it no problem.  I am more than happy to offer the DuoX 2 Lite + LPC rebuild for less than anyone on this site, along with free shipping etc smile.gif  PM if interested.

Automatically resized when you do it with evox etc.  No need to manually resize bios files.  And yes looks like this chip will be a good seller.  And yes prices do go down, however sampoman isnt far off the mark on his 1 piece cost/profit estimation smile.gif  I suggest everyone to just buy one piece smile.gif

Have previously chipped boxes w the old DuoX2,
Now I'm gonna chip a few more, so I'm thinking of ordering this chip (from Oki?), but was wondering if it comes preflashed w any BIOS?

It was so convenient w the old that it was preflashed and I didn't need to care about that..

If it's not preflashed then what's needed to flash it?

If it is preflashed, will it work for both 1.0-1.5 AND 1.6?
(Reflash for non 1.6 maybe?)

They seemed to be preflashed with M8Plus_16, you will need to reflash it for 1.0-1.5 xboxes otherwise you are  fine if its a 1.6/

Too bad no eeprom repair and dead xboxes associated with running it on older boxes.

Where did you get that info from ???  There is not a cromwell version that i know of. If they did do a legal bios they would have to ship it with cromwell becuase flashbios doesn't boot on all versions (V1.6a / V1.6b cause issues)

i think the lites are flash witha 1.6bios because i installed one and it kept giving me bad readings for temps (200,170) and it said 1.6 box in avalaunch, this was a 1.4 box
so i reflashed with x2 5035 bios and it gave more down to earth readings (128,109)
use the hackdabox reflash cd
