Flashbios you're supposed to use the stock video cable and controller, I believe.
You can always hotswap flash it

it seems that you might have v1.6b.
the flashbios sometimes work with the v1.6 (no video, orange leds).
I just recently came across that with my first v1.6b
I just used the other bank and just before flashing, switched it to the bank not working and flashed it with a 1.6 bios and now that bank is fine.
Your option would be to flash using eurasia and then putting it on bank1 so that will work.
have u tried dvd+r, cuz i've read that some have trouble with -r
-
You can't have been using eurasia correctly. The bit about does it come witha 1.6 bios puzzled me.
Burn the eurasia iso using nero image burn or similar. Burn the bios disc with the raincoat.cfg X25032 512k bios named as bios.bin and a dummy file. Burn this as a data disc.
After you insert the Eurasia disc there is quite a wait. the lEDs on the 1.6 turn orange (orange and yellow if its a crystal). the bank 0 and Eurasia should defo work with this model, you can even boot with the flash disc in from a hacked bios and it will run up Linux and flash the chip again.
The other alternative is to use the chip in the 1.5 and boot the bank 1 flashbios bank . The video will show up in that version for you to flash that way

Unfortunately no programmer for the Duo

Hey HackDaBox
I gave the old network flash a run out this evening. It is way quicker and easier than all this bios disc stuff.
On the subject of Eurasia i was messing about with that too as people had been struggling.
I stuck it on 2 of the crappiest CDr disks I could find used X2 5032 booted up with the Eurasia disc in the drive and it booted linux and flashed no problems. Its not quick but its straight forward.

It doesn't load. I tried the etherboot option but it just sits there trying to find the DHCP server. I tried to connect straight thru with a crossover cable. Same problem. I connected the xbox and a PC thru a Linksys Cable/DSL router but still can't find the DHCP.
A newer flashbios 3 will not just sit there it will time out dhcp and then assign an ip.

The LED on the front of the xbox starts up green but after several reboots and about 20 to 30 seconds
This means HAL timed out... the screen is blank and you have the wrong bios. Dual bios chips need 3.0.3 and 3.0.1 to insure a pleasant flashbios experience for 1.0 - 1.6B. Hal checks every 18 seconds if I remember right.
Flash bios is the way to go. You do need the latest ones and 2 of them (potentually).

sorry double post

@cam_cow88
Your problem is most definately with how you are making the flash bios disk.
I dont know if the eurasia disk is compatible with flashbios, however making your own is quite a simple task.
Follow the xecuter guide for making the flashbios cd - make sure you size the bios.bin file correctly for your banks (i tihnk you mentioned you have a duox2 - so you'll need to use a 512kb bios - you can use the "copy /B bios.bin + bios.bin newbios.bin" command from a command prompt to make a 512kb bios file from one 256kb file - xbtool will also resize bioses if you are unfamiliar with command line operations, or find one that's already resized).
http://www.teamxecut...lashbios/cd.htm
As per your difficulties wit getting only one bank to work - i suppose that when your TV gets no video signal it turns the solid 'blue' color you described. When this occurs booting off one of the banks - the bios on that particular bank is not compatible with your xbox version (maybe you have a 1.6?). Flash from chip from the bank that is booting.
It sounds like you have the chip installed and working properly - all you need is to get a good bios image on there now.

I'm using compatible CD-Rs because I tried putting music on them and using them with the MS Dash, and it worke
That means nothing really. it certainly does not ensure compatibility of a different structure on the disc. You need to use CDRW or DVD-R. CDR gives very sketchy results unless you have a really good drive.
Make sure also you are using the standard controller. In other words when you push A the box is actually responding.
If it says Insert disc then the disc is burned completely wrong, which is unlikely as the flash disc for eurasia is in iso format already or the drive is not reading the media.

Nero burning rom , close wizzard , recorder , burn image , cdrw , 4x speed , no multisession
or
Nero express , Disc Image or Saved Project , change file types to all , click on iso file , 4x speed , no multisession

Well, I just tried it with the CD-RW, and still no luck. I can guarantee I am following all the directions exactly, but still nothing happens. I choose the "CD" option and the tray ejects and the screen says "please insert disc and push button A", so I insert the Eurasia disc but nothing happens, it just continues to say "please insert disc and bush button A". I'm using Imation CD-RWs and Nero to burn the disc. Any help is appreciated.
-
Have you tried following the directions i previously posted?
Also i would suggest using DVD media - it's never given me a problem. I believe Philips drives (what you have if i remember correctly) can read DVD-R's

Ok, I got it flashed, although it was a pain. Thanks for all you help guys, especially hackdabox (your tutorials are so simple). I put the evox bios and dash on my box, thanks for all the help.

And the reason it would not flash to start with was? And how did you overcome the porblem?
This info you missed off is quite important as anyone else searching through can see you got it working but do not know how. that vital bit of info may help them get their machine up and running so please share it.

T0kEnHeRb ,
How are you going now ? did you get it flashed ?
I have just updated my flashing guides for all chips so check them out and report back here ok.

Question for Chancer or HackDaBox or anybody who could help me.
Right now I have (4) Duo X2 Cromwell/flashbios Clones - they came preflashed with hacked bioses. After some experimenting I managed to screw three of those mods up. with my last remaining mod I managed to flash one the chips using the hotswap method and the slayers.26 disc. Now I connected the BT point to pin 9 and soldered D0 to ground near the LPC as described in previous tuts. by Chancer and HackDaBox. Now like I said I managed to save one but the other two are giving me problems.
I tried to flash one of them (which was working fine) with the X2 5035 bios and cant get it to do anything now no blinking red Led. I tried using the Hotswap method but I got the Not Flash writable message or something. Afterwards I did read the HackDaBox post about not flashing the clone Duo X2 with any X2 50xx bios. Too late for that. Could this chip still be salvaged? Or should I throw it away?
Now the other chip, I managed to successfully flash it using the hotswap method but when I tried to boot I got the 3on/3off flashing green/red frag. I tried both banks to no avail. The red led turns on when I hotswap it. What could be the problem?

So try hotswaping after booting the good chip and use evox my HackDaBox Reflash Cd to do the flashing.
HackDaBox !

Thanks for responding, I tried your reflash DVD and it didn't work.
Here's my problem again,
one chip says "Flash not writable". I dont get the red flashing LED anymore. This all started when I tried to flash the chip with the latest X2 Bios -5035.
The other chip during hotswapping flashes the RED LED. I flash and get the three on/off red/green FRAG anyways.
-
OK.
Do you have a wire soldered from d0 on motherboard to ground ( like the metal circle around a screw hole ) and another wire soldered on the chip from BT to pin 9 ( pictured as G in the duomodchip.com diagrams ) ???
if not then you need to fit these link wires and make sure you fir the BT to G wire on both duox2's The good one that you boot on and the bad one also.
Then try flashing again. If you have allready got these link wires in place theni am afraid you may have damaged the chips.
Maybe you would want to send them on to me or chancer for testing purpose. I can't really understand how a new bios could kill a chip but i have seen a few weird things from this bios posted now.

Yeah I already have the D0 grounded to the screw round metal piece on the motherboard and connected BT to pin 9 on the good and bad chips. I'll send to you guys if you want to check them.
PM me a mailing address.
