I sold my aladdin 64 a few weeks ago because I wanted something with a dual bios. So I bought a duoX2,. I should just be able to plug and chug, RIGHT? I thought so. But all I got was a frag, so I installed the d0 and bt like directed (I originally just had my d0 grounded) All I get is frag, The ms bios boots fine with the eject button, but it frags when I use the pwr button. is it possible that this chip did not come with a bios, or that it came with cromwell, that won't work on my 1.4 xbox.
any info would be great
thanks

OR.....................what software do I use to flash this chip
-
They all come with a bios. does the red LED flash on the chip itself?
Sounds like you disturbed something in the removal and install of this. make sure you used the correct BT point, its different on this chip to an Aladdin
White chip comes with Cromwell
Blue comes with a hacked bios on each bank.

yes the chip flashes, is this normal (the xbox also flashes), my aladdin light stayed on. I did use the correct BT point, and all I did was unplug the aladdin, I installed them both with pin headers so it just unpluggs and plugs back in. I borrowed my old chip, and it plugs in and works right away. will this chip work with just D0 grounded, so it is enabled alll the time. I would rather not use the BT.
I am trying to hook this thing up to an x2 programmer, can I do this?
thanks

to be in "always on " mode , d0 has to be grounded , and bt has to be connected to pin9(g) on the quicksolder area shown here

thanks,I tried forcing it to boot with the bt to pin 9, but unfortunately it didn't work
I have 2 lpt programmers here, can I use one to read and verify this bios. I have tried numerous software and can't get it to read this chip.
one is a miatrix programmer and the other is an x2
Thanks again

The chip won't programme with a programmer. It won't be a bios issue I don't think. Check the bank switch is working with a multimeter.
