Title: Using X-lite, Going Crazy, Need Major Help!
Post by: rasstar on January 17, 2006, 08:53:00 AM
I have been using the Xlite for some time and never had a problem. You cannot use slayers or any auto installer while in cromwell so forget about that. You can flash the bios from the xbox drive or via http. When you go to DHCP you should be able to load the bios from there. Remember it has to be a 4mb bios...use the M8 bios for xchip...you can get it from the usual place...after you flash the M8 4mb bios you can use the M8 setup screen to load any bios you like. You can read the instructions located on the website.

You should get the blue cable I am sure you can get it from any electronic store or radioshack. You will need it to return to bios in case you do something wrong which is unlikely if you know what you are doing.

First of all thanks a TON for responding, i appreciate it.

I didn't know that i couldn't use the autoinstaller from cromwell, thanks for that.  But, i should be able to go to to the bank, then to flash, then select the rom to use from the cd, right?  Because no matter what i do it says it can't read disc after i go to the disc drive in the flash rom dealy.

And, i'd love to flash it via http, the thing is no matter what i do the page will not show up in my browsers.  Just sits there trying to for ever, then it never shows up.

Also, thanks for letting me i dont "need" the blue wire, unless i crap things up.

If anyone could help me out, i know that there isn't much to help with seeing as i think i'm doing everything right, it's just that my drive doens't want to read anything, and the http feature isn't working at all.  I just need to flash this freaking thing, then i'm in business.

Try a different media. The xbox does not read much CDrs so maybe you should try a DVD. Are you connected via a router or from your pc? IF the Xbox is connected via a second NIC in your PC you will need crossover cable. If through a router diable your firewall and antivirus and see if that works.
