Easiest way is got to the eb2k product page and look at the 1.6 quick install guide. If your xbox looks like that its 100% certain it is a 1.6. If not its a basic 1.4, and solderless adapter will work
I have installed a few xchips on mine and some freinds boxes and enjoy it very much, I suggest you load Evox 1.1 to take advantage of all the features of the xchip.
Also, if you have a 1.6 make sure you load a 1.6 capable bios on chip!!! |
100% correct.
also.. when did u get your xbox around?
where should I get Evox 1.1? I checked the xbins and didn't see it there... also, should I install the "X-Control Updated DLL (September 2, 2004)" on the eb2k's website if I get Eovx 1.1? Thanks much guys...
Its on xbins, when you FTP you will need to select XBox, then Bios, the X-Chip.
Yes update .dll , as newer drivers are usually better and fix some bugs.
SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.5 released.... what about that? know anything about it? is it better, or the same thing, just a newer version for the "auto install"?
I think you mean, 2.6 and its newer then 2.5 obviously.
Has newer versions of applications of time of creation. Most application support LBA48 drives now ( G )
But its still straight forward installation CD to get started, a must for newbies.
ok just got my x-chip today (yay)! A few quick guestions... should (can) it be upgraded before you install it in your XBOX? Also, what is the difference from the 3 files from the x-bins, and the files from the EBY2K site? do I use both of them? I have every file from the EBY2K site and from the /bios/x-chip from Xbins through MIRC. the x_control_install...? and I hear people say I need a special file since my xbox is 1.6 Well I haven't seen any option where I would pick the 1.6 file?? Help - I am alittle overwhelmed.. LOL

Just did mine. Got chip today as well. No, you can flash the xchip outside of the xbox uninstalled. if you open the .rar file you got from the /xbox/bios/x-chip directory, you'll see there's TWO .bin files, you want to use the one that says blahblahblah-1.6only.bin
after you install x-chip control, then you'll extract the xusb.dll (I think that was the name) from the 'updated dll' file, and then copy that into your x-chip control install directory overwriting the xusb.dll that is already there. Then plug the usb cable in, and windows will say 'new device found' and ask for drivers, the drivers are located in the x-chip control install directory under /usbdrivers. after the drivers installed, then run x-chip control and then pic file/load raw
then pic write from the second option, wait for the % counter to finish at the top of the program. then install your chip.
That's where I was when I left work. At the install of the chip part. I to have a 1.6 xbox and will try to reply again tomarrow after I do the soldering.
