Title: Intermittent Xchip -- V 1.1
Post by: cravavr3 on October 05, 2004, 07:29:00 AM
Loose connection, verify solderless adapter is snug and flush with motherboard and D0 is setted correctly, now snug the screw while holding down.

What you describe is called FRAGGING and is usually caused by loose LPC connections.

Thanks for the reply -- Do you think soldering everything would be much of a help?  I tried reseating everything and the problem persists.  Perhaps the problem is between the solderless adapter and the xchip itself...

If you are good at soldering, why not???? go ahead.

Some people have reported using a bigger screw having better result securing the solderless design better and more snugger to motherboard.

Thanks, I think I'll try that -- I'm not to sure the solderless adapter is the best solution to the xbox mod...

Soldering is more stable solution, but many individuals are not up to soldering there home electronics, so solderless is there solution.

I soldered my adapter in and the box is still fragging.  I've reflashed my chip several times and I can't seem to get it to work.  Every time I boot is just turns off again in like 2 seconds.  I'm sure all of my connections are fine -- I've soldered a number of things....  Any Ideas-- or should I just rma the chip?

Does Xbox work without xchip installed?

Are you sure using proper D0?

What method you used to flash xchip ( procedure you used) ?

My xbox does work fine without the x-chip installed... I am totally sure of the D0 connection.  I just received the chip about 2 weeks ago... It worked for about a week and now the thing keeps fragging.  I've checked all my connections -- I even soldered in the solderless adapter... still nothing.  I flashed the chip using the usb connnection -- EvoX 1.1 bios for xchip... I've reflashed multiple times with no problems.

I'm beginning to think this chip isn't all that stable.

I've had no issues with mine so far, but would suggest you contact eb2k regarding RMA.

I ended up returning the chip -- Thanks for the reply though.  I'm not a firm believer in the solderless adapter.  I'm going to go with the wire install in the Xecuter 3.  Best of luck.
