Title: Sp2 Issues With X-control
Post by: NghtShd on September 30, 2004, 06:35:00 PM
System 1:
===================================================================
Using XP Pro US (SP1 integrated). Upgraded via the big-ass 272 MB WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe installer.

Via KT133a Chipset
Athlon Thunderbird 1.33GHz.

Installed X-Control before SP2
===================================================================
System 2:
Using XP Pro US (SP1 integrated). Upgraded via the big-ass 272 MB WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe installer.

(I think ALi chipset)
HP Athlon XP-M 2500+

Installed X-Control before SP2
===================================================================

I use a USB mouse, keyboard, printer cameras with both systems (when the laptop is at how I use a real keyboard and mouse). No other software or drivers broke under SP2.

I'd also be happy to test for them if they want. Maybe they could do a build with some logging output.

I beleive Team X-Chip is working on a new build release. However knowing them they won't release to public untill alot of testing is done.

I'll let them know you want to be a beta tester.

pine: I beleive beta tester is for SP2 issue, and I have not seen you post you have that issue.

Surprisingly enough, I have tried many PC's with X-Control loaded prior and after SP2 and still no famous error 0xC00000005   ..... Damn..........

I will be picking up new laptop this after noon and hopefully encounter issue, otherwise..........I don't know.

I just recieved my X-chip, raw loaded the evo-1.1 file for my first gen xbox, and everything was fine untill I selected for the chip to write, then the program just sat there not displaying any progress meter.

No matter how long I let it stay open, nothing would write to the chip, I'm having the same trouble (writing to the chip) with a chameleon.

I tried with XP-sp2, then formatted and installed XP without SP2 or SP1, and still get the same problem.

I have USB 2.0 enabled, tried different usb ports, restarting, updating driver, still nothing.

This sucks, now I have 2 chips that don't work and a LOT of wasted money, I'm not happy at all.

Check and verify the molex( blue cable ) is snuggly connected at both ends.

Also, when you connect xchip does the X on top left of xcontrol turn green?

Have you also checked device manager after connection adn verify no conflicts.

Check your connections. It could be an issue with the X-chip itself or drivers not installed correctly.

As Crav said does the red X turn GREEN after you connect the X-chip to the PC and start the X-Control client.

Ok, I checked the connections (unplugged - then replugged back in), the drivers recognise the chip fine (green X is lit up), it even checks out in device manager.

And I still have the problem of it not writing to the chip.

I don't understand why it wont write to the chip, I've flashed and installed several matrix and chameleon chips in the past for friends who fiend for M.A.M.E. on a TV.

Would it help if I loaded Windows 2000  on my PC and try it, or should it write fine under Xp (SP1 & SP2 not installed, with updates OFF) ?

I'm at a total loss of what it could be at this point sad.gif

Proud to anounce the 1.05 version of X-control that Cra Vavr3 sent me today appears to be working. Looks like I am still using the ezusb.dll driver, however I can read from the chip. (Have not tried to write to yet...Scared..LOL).
No application errors and able to run as a XP home admin and limited user.

I hope it works for others.

There will be a new release soon, I'm sure. It wouldn't help you anyway. This is to address an SP2 issue, which you don't have (you posted your problem to the wrong thread).

Now I just need a working x-serial and I'll be happy.

DJSl4m: Try xchip on a different PC and see if it writes, if it doesn't your chip coudl be defective, why beat around bush when can determine quickly.

Just remember, drivers need to be loaded on your freinds PC as well.

Ironic,   Nothing works out for ourselves.

I should have known the site would take the "not responsible for lost pachages" onsidering the bad reputation it's gotten in the last 2 years.

I've modded several xbox's in the past, all with matrix chips and never had a problem, untill now.

It's been almost 5 months since I sent it back to Easybuy2000, and since it's quite obvious they'll never send me another, all I can do is hopefully warn as many people as to their current scam and bad products/policies.

Ive bought several chips from easybuy2000 for myself and a few freinds.
Ive had to return 2 of them after finding that they were faulty, done as requested by easybuy RMA, also sent an email to the RMA officer Sue Y to confirm i had sent the returns.
Never had a problem recieved the x-chips within 3 days of me contacting Sue Y by phone.
Considering i live in Australia and they shipped it from Canada i was pretty happy with it all.
Easybuy2000 has supplied my freinds and myself with a great product for a reasonable price, There after purchase help with both product support and RMA has been quick and efficient and freindly.
I wouldnt have any problem recommending a purchase of a X-CHIP from easybuy2000 to any of my freinds or family, let alone any person wishing to buy a chip for there xbox.
Xbox modding is a fun hobby and still very experimental, with the constant changes M$ try to implement to stop xbox owners from using there xbox to its full potential.
As easybuy claim on there website they are selling a chip with a bios (cromwell) for the xbox (this is due to not being able to ship a chip with any M$ code).
Even as shipped it has potential, but with the right bios and the endless homebrew programs that other modders share and the wealth of assistance on xbox forums for nearly every problem that comes up, this chip kicks ass!
Regards PaulY^
