You can leave Cromwell in place and button assign a bios of your choice.
When you power up the Xbox just hold down that button and the bios will start up.
-
Also, there is a known error on v1.0 box's:
Default the XCHIP OS (not cromwell) sets the Eject Button to boot the Onboard BIOS(tsop)
This does not work correct on 1.0 box's.
Solution is to just assign another button to boot Onboard BIOS or No button. (all this is done in X-Control)

If you by anychance press eject whiel, powering up it will cause by default you modified bios not to load and default to xbox bios making it appear you need to reflash.
I suggest using xcontrol, loading the full.bin again then load your M7 to any bank and then give it a name M7 LBA48 and then make it boot and also goto the botton left where says eject and right click and select A and perform a write changes.
Now use the box as usual, if it craps out an dont loads M7 again do a X-Chip read settings and see if yoiur bank name is there " M7 LBA48" if so we can assume you modchip is loose if it isn't defective modchip.
