Try pushing down on chip while applying power and see if that helps.
Also, do you have it inserted correctly.
Also, are there holes in your LPC port? If not try cleaning with rubbing alcohol, if you do are you usng teh supplied rivits.
Do you see red power light on xchip when powered?

THanks for the quick reply!, I have tried pushing down while booting and didn't change anything, it doesnt have the holes like the newer versions do, I did clean it with alchol but that didnt' help either, and yet I get a red/orange light on the x-chip when I power the box, but my xbox light itself is green.
Any suggestions?

hmmm red/oranage on xchip??? are you sure

Yes, to make sure I'm clear, its NOT switching between those colors at all but is a redish orangeish color, guess some would call it red, but looks more orange to me.

Make sure your adapter is seated directly in the middle, sometimes when you screw it down the adapter will shift. So try reseating your adapter. If your chip rocks a little bit try bending the pins on the adapter but be VERY careful as these pins break very easily (i've done it myself). If all else fails you can use the pinheader and solder it in if you think you can do it.

I've made sure over and over that its seated correctly, anything else?

Ok lets bring it down to shipping state,. load the raw image full.bin and perform a xchip - write changes, now perform a read all and save image. COmpare saved fiel to full.bin should be identical.
Now try in xbox with d0 not inserted, so we knwo system FRAGS. Now seat D0 and see what happens. IS the adapter flush with motherbaord?

Cravavr3, I did all asked, for the files they are identical.
Strange result when I removed the D0, it did nothing different, do fragging, well as far as I know, I'm assuming that fragging is it flashing between red and green on the xbox from what I've read, which its not doing, its solid green and boots like a normal xbox. Doesnt seem to effect the boot with the D0 in or out, but it is connect very well with the D0 and I've made sure over and over that the adapter is sitting correct no the LPC and I've cleaned everything also.
Any thing you can think of to try?

If no D0 and no fargging occurs indicates modchip not connecting with LPC properly to cause xbox to see a device attached and frag.
Since you describe the LED as flahing ( red and to you orange ) I can assure the not connected securely or properly as RED light is for power ( +5V and GRD ) only so it either getting power or not from pin #6 and ground from screw and since you say flashing.......something is loose or dirty or shorting.
Since you can read/write and verify data 100% we can assume the code and bios chip are working properly. And no short on chip itself otherwise woudl nor read/write contents.
lets 1st verify you have proper adapter ( 2 wires ontop ) and looks like embedded washer ontop and bottom where washer screws in.
Now are you inserting xchip as shown in solderless guide?
Sorry to get back to basics, but best to diagnose.

well to make clear, IT IS NOT flashing, it is solid a solid orange-ish color on the mod chip itself. as for the way it looks, it does have two wires on it and looks like it as the built in washers on the top and bottom as well. And I followed the guide to the T and still am having these issues, and can't get the cromwell to come up at all.

So now after cleaning my D0 Port some more and reseating everything, it only frags on boot with the D0 in or out, any suggestions?

I think I have the same problem is you, but I haven't tried cleaning the LPC holes with alchol yet. and when we mean alochol can we use like whiskey?

I also had a problems getting my x chip to install on the v1.6 mobo. Used install method from easybuy2000. Chip worked on my older xbox but no go on the v1.6 mobo. I had to install my old chameleon on the new 1.6 mobo to get it to chip.
Maybe Xenium is a better choice?

Use alternative D0 under the motherbaord, top D0 is very tricky and for skilled solders.

Well folks, after trying every possible fix to get the modchip working, I ended up doing a exchange with easybuy2000.com, got the new one in today and tried it out, it didn't work right off the bat but after spreading out the pins just a little to make it a nice and snug fit it works perfect, I flashed with Evox M8 bios and am ready to go.
