You need the rivets for XBOX version 1.3, or to be more specific... you need rivets in any XBOX that does not already have solder in the LPC holes.
-
ok... thing is i lost 1 of the damn rivets i only have 7 of them.. .so cant i just solder them all on.
-
Don't solder in the rivits, just add solder to all the holes and make sure flat with top of board, not bubled so will make good contact with solderless adapter.
-
ok.. what i did was i pulled out the mother board. and i held on the solderless adap and my frined tryed to soder on the bottem "of the board so the chip was solderd from the bottem" and the soder bubbles and dont stick.. so what should i do?
ps. so like do u mean soder from the top?!? how?!
lol dammit... do u mean put soder in the holes?
-
Put solder in holes then use solderless adapter as usual, do not solder it directly.
-
ok, thanks alot wish me luck
-
ok... now i did what you said and........ well . here ill say it like this... when i put the soderless adap down i screwed it on and the hole side that the screw "isnt" on was liftd a lil bit connecting but lifted.. so i use a drop of krazy glue and it fucked it all up it cloesd the pins in the adaptor so now there not out ther inside the adapotr "the spring is not pushing it back out cuz its glued..... and i strepd the damn plastic thats under the board that holdes the adaptor down so what i did ..so i figred id "bridge" a wire to the cloest other screw to make a ground and that works... so iv ordered a new adap and it should be in on monday.. so sould i do that again but use hot glue in stead?
nice story huh..
not to menten lol this is the scound fu$$ing xbox iv been trying to get to work.. lol
and does ANYONE know what i can use to get the krazy glue off the board? i scraped it a lil to make a contant but if thers anything? can u let me new asap please?
ps and the wire bridge thing ... it holds it down enough but NOT enogh to make a GOOD ground so i did that and it works.
-
WOW. dazed and confused.
But not sure if yo have working xbox or not???
To remove krazy glue, lightly heat with a soldering iron and use a exacto knife to slightly scrap it off then remove teh excess on blade on a cloth, repeat till all gone. Soldering iron heat not needed but sometimes makes it gummy so you can remove quicker then scrapping.
I would suggest forgetting the solderless in your case and soldering in the pin header.
-
i dont think i need to . i alredy ordered it and i told them to send me the sodering one to.. i have soder in the lpc holes and my soldering tip dont fit in there and its starting to brun the board.
im just going to hot glue the new one down.
that will work wont it?
yes XBOX runs great.
no problem i can use it normaly and all.
-
Hot glue can be used but need to hold it down then glue and wait about 30 seconds fo rit to harden then release it.
I have never glued one down, but if you feel you must, do so.
If your burning the board your tip is too hot.

yea your soldering iron probably has a switch for 30w - 15w use the 15w or your board will burn. I would suggest just using the pinheader the soldering adapters are just a headache if you ask me. Also to make your soldering iron tip smaller to fit into the small lpc holes and just be more exact with solder get a pair of needle nose pliars and just pinch the tip into a point. I did this and it makes it much easier to solder the lpc holes and the D0.
