Christine is right, the problem at the moment is that no chip actually has a bios onboard the chip that actually support/works with a 1.6 board.
The first piece of hardware that does come with 1.6 support on the chip will be a big seller.
people have claimed and shown that some chips will work with the 1.6 boards after some additional soldering, but we are yet to see how it is done.
at this point in time us 1.6 people have to play games the old way... by buying them |
the smartxx OS that ships on chips work.
With the new Xbox bios released there is full 1.6 support and the new OS adds many advanced features to the X-Chip.
However with the version 1.6 soldering is required meaning that the solder-less adapers can work with versions 1.6 but the Xbox motherboard requires 4 wires to rebuid the LPC port in order for the Xbox to work with a mod chip.
With the X-Chip there is no need to solder Vcc 3.3 volt wire as it is not needed. It requires 1 wire less than using other mod chips. Only 4 wires need to be used to rebuild the LPC port compared to 5 wires for other mod chips.
