To answer your question yes you can flash your matrix with a cd-rw or a dvd-r.

Here is the deal.  You will need a program that will make an xiso file or an xbox iso file and download the evox from #xbins get the bios file and add the md5 into the evox.ini rom section.  Burn the iso file and then place the dvd-r into the xbox and flash from the evox on the dvd-r.
