Hi all.
I have a matrix chip and a xbox version 1.6. I was wondering if i do the X2 LPC rebuild and then solder wires from the chip to the lpc and D0 will the chip function properly? Or is the chip not compatible with the new boards.
-
i doubt the preflashed bios are compatible
-
i had a friend that tried the same thing with a x2.3 lite+ to a 1.1 motherboard. it didn't turn out so well. kept fragging. not to discourage you, but i just wanted to let you know what happened with it.
btw, the reason he tried it was the xbox was constantly being carried everywhere and the chip eventually became misaligned. Other than the misalignment, it was working perfectly before the mod attempt.
take some pics if it works out

Matrix will work on a 1.6 but you will need to do a trace cut and ground lfram on the xbox 1.6 and not connect pin 7 to the matrix. 1.6 does not have a d0 to speak of but it wil boot up the lpc port when lfram is grounded.
-
I also have a 1.6 and an old matrix. I have been waiting for a good tutorial be for i try this. Does any one have and pic of a soldered matrix? What pogo's do i need to remove? Thanks. Yes I have search btw. So you someone feels the need to say "try teh search n00b!" don't. or atleast give a link.
-
you will need to rebuild the lpc port or get the x3 lpc rebuild kit. I am guessing here now but I think it will work. I think I remember it saying it will work with any mod chip.

I have a 1.0 box and and X3 mod (recent upgrade). My friend just bought one of the new crystal clear xboxes that comes with Fable and some other game. He wants me to install my old Matrix mod in his new box. I have the box apart and its a 1.6b (xbox video & hynix)
Will the Matrix work in this box? I am able and willing to try anything. I have all the tools I could need. What do I need to to?
Thanks.
Found some reading after posting. It seems I need to rebuild the LPC. From the LPC rebuild tutorials I've so far read the rebuild seems different for each mod. How do I rebuild the LPC on a v1.6b xbox to work with a Matrix mod?

Check this out for a lpc rebuild.
-
EDIT.. Sorry missed a post... Anyway, So the lpc rebuild, remove D0(from matrix), Ground lframe and fire up the xbox? Sounds simple, that scares me

Thanks everyone for the info! This is why X-S ROCKS!
-
ground lfram on the xbox and remove pin 7 also. then you can solderless install it.
-
Sorry to ask but.. Which pin 7? Pin 7 from the flsh goes to pin3 on the pogo. Or do i need to cut the pin7 trace? Or did you mean remove pin 7 from the pogo?
-
Yes you cut the trace on the xbox motherboard and then before the trace you ground that point. This will effectively ground out the xbox lfram so then it will be forced to boot off of the lpc. The matrix will have to have the lfram not connected becuase the xbox will have it grounded so there will not be a lfram signal at pin 7. once the pogo is removed and the matrix in inserted on the lpc it will be the bios the xbox will be booting off of. the d0 pogo should be removed just incase something get shored out with it.

Ok I think i can, i think i can! I will give this a shot. If all is good then I will try to do a write up with pics to help others like me. Exzir thanks for your help!

OK, just want to make sure i have the steps right.
1). Make sure the Matrix is flashed with a BIOS that supports v1.6(B) Mainboard.
2). Perfrom the v1.6(B) LPC Rebuild.
3). Cut the trace and Solder the LFRAME to the Bottom lead of the trace.
4). Remove the D0 Pin and the LFRAME Pin from the matrix.
5). Matrix is now ready to be installed solderless.
Is that it? If so i will try it this week and write up a tutorial.
-
#3 is wrong
3). Cut the trace and Solder the LFRAME to any ground

READ FIRST
Here is a Pic for another mod chip install it does say to goto p[in 7 but you can not do this with the matrix becuase the matrix does not have the correct type of lfram for a 1.6 xbox. once you ground lfram on a 1.6 xbox it will boot of the lpc. If you connect lfram to the matric ehter pin 7 or the trace the matrix will be disabled. So remove the pin 7 pogo and ground lfram wire. In the pic when it say to goto pin 7 goto ground.
Check my next post for the pic.

Hey Exzir, can you check to see if this file is good to go. I wasn't sure on the numbering of the pins in the matrix and I wanted to make sure before uploading it to the scene.

The only differance is that i was going to the r8r1 for the 3 volt connection. Aslong as that point has the proper voltage then it should be a good little pdf file you can distribute.
-
Hi,
I looked at your PDF, but it seems like the matrix pin you say to remove on fig. 3 looks like it corresponds to pin 3 on the LPC not pin 7...
also, does your chip go solid green when you turn it on ? (ping 1 on pin 2 off?) mine keeps flashing red/green and when i have it in pin 1 and pin2 on (to find the right spot)
-
Well the pin 7 is not the lpc pin number sorry for the confusion. You are correct it is pin 3 and not pin 7.
Just make it enabled all the time. I don't remember what the jumbers for that are. Also I made mine writeable or both pins on I think. that will make the xbox always boot the matrix chip and your good to go.

Would this also work for an xecuter 2.0 on a 1.6?
-
More than likely not. If so you might want to check out or ask the question in a excuter forum.
