Title: Problems With Matrix After Sparking Psu
Post by: DcMaStAh on August 27, 2004, 02:45:00 PM
Lets start from the start..
All of a sudden my PSU started sparking, and I was told by many people that it was fixable and could not hard my motherboard or chip.. So I tried and it seemed to work but it would frag with my chip on so I took it off completely and it still fragged, so i got worried and took ou that PSU. Well i just got a new power supply and it works fine except i cant seem to allign my matrix again. It seems to flash green when its not actuall yin the right spot, if i apply the right amount of pressure but if i screw it in and switch to mode 2, it just goes to the MS bios still
Im looking for a few options.
1. is there a way for me to tell when its actually in the right spot?
2. If its a connection to the d0, could i just solder the d0 pogo pin to a wire that goes to the d0 and get a connection with all the other points by screwing it in? (since those pins are so much bigger its pretty obvious when its on them?)
3. Is my chip dead?

Well i ended up soldering a wire from the d0 pin on the top of the chip (other side of the pogo pin, flat side) to the alternate d0 point ont he bottom and it still seemed to just go MS bios. But also there are a few things i would like to clear up/am wondering about... On my chip I had a modified xbox symbol so that i could tell if my modchip was on or not, so this is how i am telling if my mod is working or not. And also, I dont think its the actual flashed bios that could be corrupted, because if it was, then it would try read it and frag, and not go to the normal MS bios. And since my chip was always in mode 2, it was write protected so i couldn't. So right now im thinking theres nothing I can do because i cant allign it normally, i cant solder a direct connectiom from just the d0 (would it be worth it to solder all of the points like i had with the d0?), and reflashing im almost positive wont help, and without a working modded bios theres no way to edit anything else. Is there anything anyone can suggest? By the way Exzir I didn't understand what you menat by a small tac for the d0?
Im starting to think the d0 isnt the problem anymore since i got a DIRECT connection.. =/ maybe my chips just dead?
