When I connect the programmer with the matrix chip attached to my parallel port, the light on the matrix chip is red. the pc will not recognize the chip. i have applied pressure to the chip/programmer connection. I downloaded and installed GiveIO. I even tried another computer. I know when this matrix chip was attached to the xbox mb the light glowed green.

i just bought this modded xbox with the matrix chip already connected. the guy said the chip would be sent without the bios on it. the system fragged when i got it, and i assumed that it was b/c the chip had no bios. i am now starting to wonder if this guy didn't fry this chip.

any suggestions would be great. i am thinking about just getting a xecuter 2 chip or something.

btw: i put a brand new battery in the programmer

also, the system still frags when the matrix chip is out. it doesn't have a stock drive, it has a 40gig hard drive in it. it still frags when i disconnect the ide. does that mean my board is toast or just possibily the tsop needs to be flashed?

Try setting the delay on the programming software higher.

i tried setting the delay at different levels. it didn't help. does the fact that the chip is registering a red light mean anything, or is that standard when connected to the programmer with no bios?

theres a red light on whether it has a bios on it or not. its letting u know its ready to be flashed....

the matrix is in mode 1. the other pc doesn't have an intel board.

what about the xbox mobo. should it frag when the ide cable is disconnected? i think my hd is locked, also.

well, i think i am going to get a new board and a chameleon. do you think the 1.8 is neccesary? is a 1.3 sufficient? btw, thank for the help!!

hey, the programmer for matrix is compatible with the new chameleons, right?

i think the 1.8 is compatible with 1.4 and 1.5 mobo, and the 1.3 cham is not.

ah ha, ic. i dont got 1.4 or 1.5 so it dont matter to me. hehe. anyways, thanks man, i added u to my aim. mines : ixifour20ixi  ttyl man. GL.
