use the ozflash method the program it becasue it needs different bios and you can find them at xbins(do a search on it). x4977 bios

the chameleon is prefalshed w/ cromwell

why would you do ozxflash??? once you install the chameleon properly cromwell will boot and itll ask for a cd with the bios, and this is what you should insert..


a cdrw with a 100mb dummy file named 0dummy and a bios file (either 256k or 512k) named to LINUXBIO.bin, and burn that to a cd like a data cd using recordnow max, DONT MAKE AN ISO

Why the need for the BOOT CD-RW if the Chamelon 1.3 comes pre-flashed?  And is it necessary to use RecordNow MAX?  Would EZ CD Creator Plat. do the job?

Is the LINUXBIOS file obtained from xbins?

Hum not pre-flashed sounds like my problem,  Now I need to find a programmer.

I have a xbox 1.1 and just got my solderless chameleon 1.3. My LPC holes are NOT filled with solder. I've wigled that thing every which away, but could not get the blue led to stay on. So it seems I will either have to fill the holes with solder or just solder the chameleon in.

What do you all think would be the easiest?

BTW what would be the best way to fill those holes with solder? Anyone have a link to the alt location for the d0? The one that is easier to solder to.

Because it comes pre-flashed with the Cromwell BIOS, which lets you install Linux and, well, that's about it. If you want to run Evox, play games from your HDD, ect., you need to flash it with a different BIOS.

Thanks for the reply.  Will the Cromwell BIOS enable one to use "backup" Xbox games/DVDs?

Not as far as I know. I think the Cromwell BIOS is designed for converting you Xbox into a Linux box. And converting it to solely use Linux means no dual booting, running Xbox games (original or backup), or apps like Evox. That's the reason many chips come pre-flashed with Cromwell, because it doesn't let you do things which are in the "grey area" of legality. If you want to use the cool features of you modchip, you'll need a different BIOS.

I just did a Matrix install with the solderless motherboard.  The pogo pins fit perfectly in the holes.  All I did to make it work was flip the motherboard over, add solder into the holes from the bottom of the motherboard while the matrix pins are in the holes.  Made perfect bond.  After that I had to solder the L0 to the point on the newer motherboard since it don't line up with the pogo pin on the matrix chip.  On the matrix I cut off the square that sticks off the board to goto the l0 point since i no longer needed it and this also gives access to do the soldering on the motherboard.  It works perfectly.
