Title: Problem Flashing Matrix Chip
Post by: GameShopUSA on July 18, 2003, 02:41:00 PM
Your programmer is bad, the red light should always come on when programming or plugged in. You didn't plug the programmer in and then put the chip on it right?

It is a common problem with the matrix and its programmer.

Plug the matrix into the programmer first, then plug the programmer
into the PC LPT port. Squeeze the matrix and the programmer together
at the same time push it into the PC port. you will have to hold and squeeze it thru out the entire time in is being flashed. If it looses
connection while its being flashed you will have to start over agian.
It also helps to remove one nut on the programmer and one on the PC
LPT port on different sides like this pic

This may sound stupid, but is the LPT enable in the PCs bios settings?
You could also try a different PC all together, and see if that helps.

Just had another though, what mode is the matrix in when you have it attach to the programmer. I am not sure it makes a diff, but it has
always been in mode one when I flashed it with the programer. It might
not make any diff, I dont know I never tried it in anyother mode besides mode 1.
