I've put many different bioses onto the matrix using winLPC and once even tried MSDos. No problems were reported while I flashed the new bioses. I've tried mainly different X-ecutor versions and Evox 2.5. I aligned the Matrix with no problem and the led Lights did exactly as it was described for a perfectly working Matrix and bios, except. . . it just boots the regular bios on the xbox. I don't have a new hdd in yet mainly because I ordered a 120gb one and its still in the mail. I thought I could at least get the new bios to load before installing the new hdd is this true? Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong? I'm using a Xbox v1.0 and programming it via the programmer in WindowsXP (and I've already installed the IO driver needed in XP) with any bios that I can get to work!!!
Thanks for any advice in advance.

How do you know the MS bios is loading? Have you tried to load backups?
-
Well I think the MS bios is loading because currently I have a EvolutionX 2.5 colormod bios on the Matrix and the xbox logo is still green and its not saying "matrix inside" underneath the symbol like others describe. Also I have tried booting backup copies of games that work perfectly on my friends modded xbox. All I ever get is a dirty disc error. I also get the same when trying to boot up my Evolution-X dashboard cdrw. Got any ideas still?

just realing the chip just cause the lights green dosent mean its connected right

what mode is the matrix in when you are trying to boot from it?
the matrix will flash green when aligned in mode 1
once you have that, switch it to mode 2 or 3. It should now
light a constant green and boot to your colormod bios.
It sounds like it is being flashed correctly through the PC
from what you have said.

Here's an update.. . or some more info on my problem. I've been aligning it in mode 1 just like the guides say and I noticed something else strange. When I have the 3 alignment holes lined up perfectly with the 3 holes on the modchip the light will blink red, yet when I turn the modchip counter-clockwise a little. . . the green light will start blinking. I've noticed that none of the alignment holes are matched up while my green light is blinking. But no matter what I do. . .the green led light never comes on when the holes are aligned. Any more suggestions?
And I have been trying to boot from mode 2 and sometimes 3 whenever I do have the green light blinking in mode 1. Any more suggestions?

I have had this problem before with pogos, and i think i sorted it by VERY CAREFULLY scraping off a small amount of the varnish that covers the mother board, allowing the pins to get proper connections. I scraped the board with a scalpel and magnifying glass, and the chip worked straight away

I just finished installing my matrix a couple days ago. I had some problems aligning the thing and was about to give up. Try this, instead of putting the d0 points in the middle of the alignment holes, put them at different spots. Like in the upper right hand corner, or and the bottom the the alignment hole. Here is a pic to help you under stand. Hope this helps!

.
I still to this point don't really understand what my problem was but i changed alot. First if you're having problems installing. .. .scrap the d0 point with something softly. I think there was a thin clear plastic over it. Plus I cleaned all pogo pins and contact points with alcohol again. And finally I took away the washer underneath the Matrix. I think that is what really made it work. I think my chip wasn't close enough to the d0 point so try all of this and I hope it works for you like it did for me. Good luck.
And thanks to everyone for advice earlier. . . you helped alot!
