Title: Matrix Sold Out Everyhwere
Post by: mergedown on January 27, 2003, 08:53:00 AM
I had initially planned on buying a Matrix chip. I have noticed that spotted-horse.com and Easybuy are out of them. Anyone know where I could get one??

I did my first solder job on my guitar this weekend and it seemed quite simple. I was thinking about maybe getting the X-ecuter 2 Pro or Lite.

I would rather not have to solder so I would like the Matrix. Anyone haveone they wanna sell or know where I can find a place that has them in stock??

Or you can look in the Buy, Sell and Trade section of this forum.
People will probably sell you one for cheap.

I'm installing a cheapmod (same functionality as a matrix), you get cheapmod and installation for the price of the matrix. No need to deal with soldering, or aligning the matrix.

I was in the same boat looking for a matrix I just decided to order a X2 Lite and bought a soldering iron (like 8 bucks at radio shack) it was actually really easy, i've never even seen a soldering iron before and had no idea how to work the thing, i figured it out and even was able to solder a wire into the famous "D0" hole.
Anyway i suggest you get an X2 lite instead, i got mine at www.modchip-source.com they sent it right away, better than waiting till "next week" for your matrix.

I say "next week" because it seems thats the only time they are ever available, even though its been like four weeks since they stopped making em.

Whats the infamous "D0" hole????? I have been practicing my soldering skills and think I could pull it off, but now you have me concerned. I'm (yes, I'm gonna say it) scared to destroy my XBox with a soldering gun. I'm sure you can all understand how devistating it would be!!

And whats the deal with turning it on and off for LIVE use? Is that simple after the install? ANd I keep reading that chips don't come "flashed", is all of this pretty easy to figure out? Please direct me to the best resource for my newbie questions.

The-console-corner.com.  I e-mailed them yesterday asking about availability and found out an interesting tid-bit:  The Chinese New Year is Feb. 1. (year of the Horse, year 4700 in the chinese calendar).    As such, nothing will happen on the matrix front until 2/07.  On a side note, the chinese new year celebration runs for 15 days.  Hope we all learned something today.

its all REALLY easy to figure out wink.gif

but I wouldnt use a soldering gun if I were you.. just get yourself a cheap, small iron. those guns are usually way too big to solder those little holes with.

This guy is not lying.  LOL.  That's how I fucked up my first PSX when I was a young'n.   laugh.gif
