Well i got my matrix mod for xmas, and it hassled me all day, and i stripped the bolt inside of it.  eventually i got it installed.

I flashed the chip using winlcp and loaded evox 2.3 on it.

i set the chip to mode 2 so i can always override the bios, but whenever i put in the evox disk burnt on cd, i get teh same old message that its' not an xbox disk, what did i do?

get the latest x2 bios and see if your modchip is even working. You should see an XECUTER2 symbol on bootup if the modchip is working
