I seemed to finally suss it out.. although I haven't out it all back together yet... and tested it. But it isn't resetting anymore.


The trick is to push on the back of the matrix chip (opposite side from the gsopt..) then tighten it.

I was pushing on the G-sopt bit. Even though it said it was alligned, it would reset. After pushing on the back and tightening it.. it doesn't reset anymore.

Give it a try !

just tested it, and it works like a charm !!!

I seriously think this should be added to guides etc.. I've seen alot with this problem...

Mine did the same thing this weekend. I power off then back on and it went crazy. I could hear the drives starting to spin up, but then it stopped. I took the case off to look at it and it started woking again. loose connection i'm guessin.

I had the exact same problem today.  I've been using my xbox with a matrix for the last few weeks in mode 4.  Today when i tried to play a backup of splinter cell it tried to load and froze.  Then when i restarted my xbox it beeped and tried to start three times and then had the blinking red and green lights.  I pulled the plug back out, and my xbox started with my flashed color bios, but it would not play any of my backups.

Sounds like it needs to be realigned.  Clean the contact points and use a longer screw.  See my Matrix tutorial for more info.

I cleaned my 9 LPc points with alcohol on my first installation so I wouldnt have this issue .

It seems that flux and solder corrosion causes this (from MS factory)

Alcohol does the trick

well, i tried cleaning the points with alcohol, but its a no go still. I'm gonna try reflashing with the programmer...this is a royal pain in the ass

Solved. Cleaned points with alcohol, flashed on the PC, realligned   , and it works fine. Man, the matrix is a screwy chip.

dang, this isn't fair, had mine for about 3 weeks now and still can't get it working, tryed everything, flashes fine, lines up fine, get reboot 3x red/green error, tryed cleaning (3x), reflashing with 2309432480923 bios(s), and nothing, check xodus site for tech, chip matches up completly with theres.

yea, forgot to say that, used longer screw, tryed with and without tape, even tryed it without a screw and still nothing, i noticed today that there is a slight depression in the last bottom right, could this effect it? when i install it it still touches.

I had the same probelm as you did and the only way that I could get my matrix chip to work in my 1.1 xbox was to turn the moboard upsidedown and solder a flying lead to the contacts on the back (you can see the G spot, follow the tracks to a solder point ) then remoce the G spot pin on the matrix and solder the lead to this spot, And gess what, worked first time....................?????????????????

Although this is just like the executer mod?????

Dimples in the solder contact points could prevent a good connection.  You can try touching these up with solder or lightly sanding with a fine grit sandpaper.  I used a little sandpaper to even my connections back out, but you have to be very careful if you try this; you don't want to sand into the mobo.

                                    tryed sanding it too, thinking about soldering.

maybe, i send for RMA like a week and a half-ago, but didn't send it in, was gonna wait for them (them = xodus team) to release their test bios, and oh wow look what they put there,  "All RMA numbers issued by Easybuy2000.com are valid for ten (10) days. I have installed an Xtender chip and everything was working fine till one day i got the same three shut offs with the beeps and the red/green blinking light. It did it for a day or two then went back to normal.  Now its doing it again and I can't fix it.  I tried resoldering every point on my chip and no go.  Anyone have any ideas?
