Did you upgrade your hdd, if so sounds like an unlocked drive, if you want to boot original bios/dash you have to lock the hdd(check tutorials)
do you get the "xbox needs service" screen?
originally the dash is xboxdash but many peeps backup xboxdash to msxboxdash, so msxboxdash is probly your original dash
original bios boots to xboxdash.xbe
