Title: Can't Flash Matrix Chip H-e-l-p!

Seems it is programmer problem, not BIOS. I use the DOS version flash utility called wmilk(?), maybe you can try it.

Did you put a battery in it? Is it brand new?

Also make sure that the Matrix is firmly into the programmer.  Some people reported that they actually have to squeeze the programmer and the Matrix chip together while programming.
