I have also tried 6 different Batteries. Tried pressing the Chip during the attempt to flash. Also tried 2 week batteries. All come back with the same above error
I also tried WinLPC.exe and it does not detect the chip too. I have gone to my bios and changed all the parallell port settings with even a slight ray of hope.
I would really appreciate if someone could help me flash my matrix chip for me with evo 2.5. Does any one have the Matrix in the New Jersey area.

New battery... I tried to reboot and flash again... no luck. I did get an
'ok' message box the first time... then an error message.
Confused... (and in need of help).

Seems strange that all documents and even the flashpack are setup to use a non-default address, but oh well.. It does work, just use the process of elimination.

So, I threw the flasher under a microscope at work and checked it out. ONE OF THE COMPONENTS WAS WAY THE HELL OFF THE PAD - two leads were hardly making contact and one was not even touching the pad. A really small iron bit and some solder and I was able to flash!

I was having the same problems.
I changed the lpt port setting in XP to use the IRQ & still no go.
I then discarded the cable & it worked fine with WinLPC
Hope this helps someone else

Its been said countless times on xbox-scene.com and here, cables will not work and can damage your programmer if used. So remember NO CABLES!
