You can flash the Xodus chip of course with a disc, which is a plus sometimes...

Ok now im gonna make a little tutorial for you right now.
1st, get Xflash, from somewhere, its a flashing tool, and it works with all the xbox.
Then burn xflash with ur bios(es).
solder those two jumpers you see in those 2 pictures.
start xflash on ur xbox
disconnect chip
flash.
Now ur onboard is flashed, and do not need a chip anymore, and u can flash it as many times as you want thru xflash, without even opening ur xbox again.
If you wonder y people dont love this is because:
they think "supposedly "x-live" problems"
and if u fash it wrong somehow, u mess up your xbox chip and need to use modchip.
Some 2 things that is the usual. But i wouldnt care. You will never fuk it up unless you do something really strange u know what i mean.

Xbox with any modchip installed (you need a classic (29/11 wire modchip) , you can NOT flash the onboard modchip when you have a LPC modchip (openxbox , x-ecuter , xodus , ...) installed).

Allright the first thing you may ask why?
Well if you have a modchip currently installed, and want to use a bigger harddrive, your only option is to remove the mod, reflash the eeprom with the evo2.2 bios, then reinstall it.
Untill now,
This way will show you how to flash the xboxs onboard tsop with the evo2.2 bios, allowing you to remove your mod completely.
Notice how this says you can't do it w/ an lpc mod....that's what the matrix is. besides I already asked eb2k and they said no.

Either a goddamn LPC mod is on...or it is off!
When it is on...unassigned code works. When off....no go..nada.
The question was whether or not it was possible to flash the ONBOARD bios with a Xodus...the answer is a resounding NO. The Xodus is a full bios replacement, the 29/11 wire mods are partial replacements meaning they interject data during the bus cycle to authenticate unassigned code.

you can't flash the on-board TSOP with _any_ modchip that utilizes the LPC header (OpenXBox, Xodus, CheapMod, etc). Even switching the modchip off or physically disabling wires (clipping or with a switch) will not remedy this; it is not possible. In order to flash the onboard chip, you need to use one of the 'original' 29 wire modchips and either install a switch or clip the correct wires (don't know which ones offhand).
Gtac, get some manners. You do _not_ flame the shit out of anyone that disagrees with you. A heated debate is fine; calling people dumbasses or assholes is out of line.

Simple reason why it won't work. When you boot from an LPC mod the address space usually reserved for the TSOP bios chip is used by the LPC mod. There is no way two chips can reside in the same address space. Even if you were to disable the LPC mod the original would not be seen until you rebooted and of course once you reboot you would be running off of the original bios and it wouldn't let you run unsigned code. Any LPC mod made so far has this limitation. So to review, if it is LPC you cannot flash the onboard BIOS, sorry!

The general consesus goes against what I know about a PC BIOS. Which is, the BIOS is only used at boot time. I've flashed a broken BIOS by replacing it with a working one after the PC has booted.
Using this knowledge, it should be possible to flash an xbox BIOS in the same way.
So, now I'll try and add something to this discussion
When this topic started (again) I took my xbox apart, and bridged the motherboard areas that are required to flash a BIOS. Not an easy task, I may add. If you guys think (deep voice) POINT 9 is bad these make it look like a dime. Trying to get a blob of solder to bridge them would be very difficult
After failing to get any electrically conductive paint on a quick trip out;
I ended up tinning a short piece of wire and placing it over the points and applying a little heat. I can't see the points now, they're under the wire, so I can't be 100% they are bridged. I'll get some paint later in the week to make sure.
I booted up with my openxbox running evox 2.5.
I unplugged the cable to the mod.
I confirmed the xbox was still working.
I ftped over my copy of the BIOS
I went to raw command typed flashbios c:\rom\rom.bin
The Flash BIOS message appeared onthe screen along with
"Manufacturers ID ff Device ID ff"
There is what I assume is a status bar on the bottom.
The status bar didn't move.
The BIOS did not get flashed, nor did it get changed in any way.
So to summarize, with some experience of the subject, no you can't flash the onboard BIOS with an openxbox mod.

Basically the PC caches the bios on boot (if told to!). It copies it into memory and then runs from the cached copy so that it is faster. That is why you can remove the bios chip after the system boots because it isn't really using it. I am not 100% sure what the X-Box does with its bios on boot.
