Greengiant, I have contacted you and sent it back, received replacement and it still behaves the same way.  And thanks for the info Andy, good to know I'm not just a fluke when it comes to this problem.

I recently purchased the XIR Remote Mod and installed it last nite. I also integrated the MS DVD Dongle according to this tutorial and I have both the dongle and the XIR using the XIR's IR eye. Everything worked perfectly, the Xbox powered up with a push of the Display button, shutdown when I pushed 0, and when on the DVD dongle works perfectly, and shuts off when a controller is inserted into port 4. Today I try firing up the box with Display, and nothing. I manually turn it on, dongle still works, and it still shuts off with 0. I opened up the box and the power for the XIR hadn't moved. I tried reinserting the power every which way possible, making sure it's contacting the 3.3v standby and the 3.3v lines, and nothing. Somehow I lost the ability to power up the box, but I can still shut it down with the remote. Any help out there?

No dice, neither select nor display work to power up the box.

by the way you worded it, it sounded as tho you are using the XIR and dongle with only the XIR eye.  Is that right?  Didnt think that was possible so i must have misunderstood you.  In other words, do you have both the dongle and Xir eye visible?  Or did you as you say, integrate both by using only the xir eye as a reciever.  Anyway, should work by pressing select, just keep checking the wiring.  I have 3 of them and all work to a T.

I have both the dongle on the XIR using just the XIR's eye. So one IR Eye, 2 IR devices. It worked flawlessly last nite, then this morning it won't boot, but it shuts down. Checked all power wiring and nothing helps.

which 'eye' are you using the one from the DONGLE or the one from the XIR (thats supplied)

if u used the one supplied, did you reomove the exsisting one from the dongle
(and put to one side)

If u used the one from the dongle then im amazed it ever switched on as its a5V IR reciver and standby voltage is 3v ..

either way say which one ya used.. Mick ..

I removed the dongles eye, and am using the XIR's eye to send signal to both the dongle and the XIR.

I have power plugged into the purple (standby) and orange (3.3v) which the XIR's website says to have the power plugged into, yet still nothing. This is very confusing since by all means it should power up but doesn't.
