Title: Having To Hold A/v Cable In Sweet Spot To Get Picture
Post by: BabyBenz84 on August 18, 2009, 03:06:00 PM
Anybody have any idea?

To me this kinda seems like a problem with the av connector not being properly connected to the motherboard but I find it odd that composite will work but component won't. I have the official Microsoft component cables and I have noticed that the plug end seems a little fatter than the composite end so maybe its just enough of a difference to prevent it from seating properly in the socket.

I really need to get this resolved. I hate using composite lol.

Now I can't get either cable to work. I can hear sound but I get no picture. If I pull up on the cable I get just a little bit of blue fuzz on the screen.

I took the system completely apart and carefully examine the av port on the motherboard. I can't see anything that looks loose or damaged. When I plug in a cable it does feel a little loose inside though. I can jiggle it up and down a little bit but the plug stays in the socket.

I notice that the metal sheet is not making contact with the actual metal part of the av socket. Does this matter? Do they need to make contact for a ground?

Btw this is a softmodded system.
