first of all just because you run the dash at 1080i does not mean your videos play at that resolution
and it looks better on a progressive scan dvd player because.....well it has progressive scan.

did you even read my reply?
the original xbox isnt even capable of video playback at that resolution, your dash is being displayed at 1080i, your video is playing at 480i

How does the xbox compare if it's running at 480p aswell?
I run mine at 720p and reckon it looks better than my old 576i Pioneer dvd player. Having said that I was never impressed with the Pioneer, especially considering the cost of it
Are the componant leads on the xbox good quality or the cheapo crappy ebay ones? I had a 3rd party VGA lead for my 360 that was far worse quality picture wise than the official rgb scart lead.

I don't know then really, I'm using pretty much standard settings for 720p bar adjusting screen size, contrast, gamma etc. As I said, in my case it looks better but then I'm not comparing like for like. Hopefully someone else will be able to shed some light, I'm certainly intrigued!

Never really played the xbox other than my CRT tv's but the flicker filter if set at 5 sure does blur the image, maybe it does the same on LCD tv's? Also the video encoder chip on some XBOX's is worse than others.
