Title: Remove Shield For Rca Connectors?
Post by: Panter on November 01, 2007, 05:26:00 PM
I will add components, coax and audio output, like this
http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=213487

Do I have to remove the metal shielding thats around the case where I will drill holes for the RCA connectors? If not they will share the same ground I guess.

If I do not remove the shield I can still solder the ground to each connector, but maybe they should be isolated from eachother?

Thanks.

I would suggest removing the shielding only if its getting in your way. Less work means less things can go wrong  wink.gif

I don't see why you couldn't share the ground, I believe most grounds are shared anyway. The only thing I would suggest that should improve the interference problem (if you run into it) is wrapping the ground around the positive wire.
